整体设计思路 本课依据单元主题意义的探究和核心素养活动观有关理念，首先从“culture”入手，探索中国文化在某些方面的内在联系，开展对本课主题----孔子以及儒家文化的教学。随后，深入探究语篇内容，将主题意义与活动观相结合，通过观看视频、分析文章结构、制作思维导图、深层问题探究、分享讨论等引导学生全面理解文章内涵。最后，超越语篇，引导学生生产并合理表达自己的观点，提升其批判性思维及创新运用能力。通过以上环节，本课旨在提升学生阅读理解能力，培养他们的核心素养及人文精神。
教学目标 基于单元主题意义探究及语篇分析，本堂课的教学目标为： 通过识别语篇结构，培养获取核心信息的能力。 通过观看视频讲座，培养听说等交际能力 通过制作思维导图，培养概括思维能力 通过分析孔子学说核心及影响力，提升批判性思维能力 通过理论联系实际，培养培养创新运用能力
教学重难点 教学重点：引导学生利用流程图和思维导图，分析孔子与儒家理论的核心以及其对个人与社会的影响。 教学难点：引导学生分析和讨论儒家学说的核心，并用其理论进行分析现在社会的问题。

Step 1: Lead-in (5 min) Introduce the topic by referring to the traditional Chinese architecture and the theory behind it. Use a guessing game to check Ss’ knowledge about The Analects of Confucius Ss express their understanding about “Ren”---- benevolence. Ss guess the meaning of the sayings and try to express them. 通过中国传统建筑引入本文主题：孔子与儒家文化；并通过对“论语”经典语句的解读激发学生的学习兴趣。(网络视频对论语语句的理解)
Step2: Activity 1 Prediction (2 min) Lead Ss to predict the content of the text. Ss predict the content by reading the title. 通过阅读文章标题对文章内容进行预测，是学生形成主题意义的概念。
Step 3: Activity 2 Read for structure (3 min) Lead Ss to analyze the structure of the text and find out the key words. Go through the text quickly and try to find out the key words for each part. 通过快速浏览文章，获取每段主题词及段落大意，培养学生结构化的阅读能力。
Step 4: Activity 3 Listen for background information (4 min) Play a short video and lead Ss to catch the basic information concerning Confucius. Ss watch a short video and try to fill in the blanks and know some basic information about Confucius. 通过AI人物对孔子进行介绍，激发学生学习兴趣以及训练学生通过听与看获取信息的能力。（利用AI技术制作视频）
Step 5: Activity 4 Read for reasons (2 min) Lead Ss to think about the reason why Confucius travelled to spread his ideas and philosophy. Ss think about the question “Why Confucius failed to receive the recognition he deserved during his lifetime ” 通过对文本信息的剖析，挖掘深层内涵，培养学生批判性阅读能力。
Step 6: Activity 5 Read for details (8 min ) Lead Ss to draw a mind-map for Confucius’ key concepts and their influence. Ss read Para 3-5 and draw a mind-map by themselves and try to introduce it in front of the class. 通过阅读并制作思维导图，并根据图表进行表述，培养学生的总结概括能力及语言表达能力。
Step 7: Activity 6 Read and think (8 min) Lead Ss to think between and beyond the lines by raising some questions. Ss read and think deeply about the Confucianism and its influence as well as the writing techniques of this article. 通过追问的方式，挖掘文本主题意义，并培养学生批判性思维能力以及形成篇章结构阅读能力。
Step 8: Activity 7 Read and Apply (Group work) (10 min) Help Ss to review the key information of this article and try to apply them to solve detailed problems. Ss review what have been learnt and discuss in groups, trying to apply the theory to solve practical problems. 通过总结孔子理论核心要点，以及讨论分析活动，培养学生理论联系实际，跳出文本，运用所学理论解决实际问题的能力。
Step 9: Consolidation (3 min) Lead Ss to review the key concept of Confucianism and the inspiration it brings. Ss try to figure out the key word of Confucius’s concept and express their inspirations after learning this article. 通过总结提炼，找出孔子学说的核心之核心，并引导学生表达本文所带给他们的启发。实现进入文本----跳出文本---回归文本。
Step 10: Homework Write an article about a Chinese historical figure. Ss write a Chinese historical figure according to what they learnt. 通过文章学说，使学说能够用英语讲中国故事，培养学生的阅读写作能力。
