Dear sir,
I'm Li Hua from Sunshine Middle School. I d like to become one of your guides at the Future Science Museum for foreign visitors. Here's why I think I' m a good fit.
I'm good at English as I've been learning English for six years. I always spend a lot of my free time listening to English news and practicing speaking English, so I can communicate with others fluently in English.
I have been interested in science since I was a child. I enjoy reading books on science. And I often come up with some new ideas, which I have turned into small inventions to make my life more comfortable and interesting.
Besides, I feel like making friends with people from different backgrounds and countries. I'm sure that I will get along well with the foreign visitors.
I would be most thankful if you could give me the chance.
Thank you!
Yours,
Li Hua

For years I wanted a flower garden. I would spend hours thinking of different things I could plant that would look nice together. But then we had Matthew, Marvin, Helen, and the twins, Alisa and Alan. I was too busy raising them to grow a garden.
Money was tight ( 拮据的), as well as time. Often when my children were little, one of them
would want something that cost too much, and I'd have to say, “Do you see a money tree in the yard Money doesn't grow on trees, you know."
Finally, all got through high school and college and were off on their own.I started thinking again about having a garden.
Then, one spring morning, on Mother's Day, I was working in my kitchen. Suddenly, I looked out of the window and there was a new tree, planted right in my yard. I thought it must be a
weeping willow ( 垂柳 ), because I saw things blowing around on all its branches. Then I put my
glasses on - and couldn't believe what I saw.
There was a money tree in my yard!
I went to have a look. It was true! There were dollar bills, one hundred of them, taped all over that tree. There was also a note among them, “Thank you for your time, Mom. We love you."
Later, my children bought me tools, a sunflower stepping stone and gardening books.
That was three years ago. My garden's now very pretty, just like I wanted. When I go out and take care of my flowers, I don't seem to miss my children as much as I once did. It feels like they're right there with me.
I live in a city where winters are long and cold, and summers are too short. But every year now,
when winter sets in, I look out of my window and think of the flowers, I'll see next spring in my little garden. I think about what my children did for me, and I get tears in my eyes - every time.
I'm still not sure that money grows on trees. But I know love does!

How cool would it be to have a flying robot What's the first thing you would do with it Drones are remote-controlled flying robots, and they are getting more popular every day. But is this a good thing for society
The popularity of drones has increased in recent years as technology has improved and got cheaper. A civil( 民用的)drone with a high-quality camera and four helicopter propellers( 螺旋桨) now sells online for just a few hundred US dollars. Drones are extremely useful for making videos because their cameras link directly to phones or computers. Nowadays, anyone can get professional-looking fly-by pictures from different angles(角度).
But could this cause problems Because drones are so affordable, it means that anyone can send a robot flying around the neighborhood. People might be surprised to find a camera flying outside their window. This should be a terrible worry for people who care about their privacy.
Many governments also spend a lot of money on drones, but for very different reasons. Some military drones can fly higher than 15,000 meters at over 300 kilometers per hour. And no, they don't just take pretty videos. One military drone can even hold 360 kilograms worth of
bombs( 炸弹) ,enough to completely break down an enemy camp. The man controlling the drone
sits safely away from the action, so it's impossible to know for sure who is getting mon people might be in danger.
