Step 1 T greets students. Then T shows a video about birthday party and asks them a question “What are the people in the video doing ” Ss watch the video and answer the question “ They are having a birthday party.” A video can attract Ss and let them pay more attention to the topic of birthday.

Pre-listening (7)
Step 2 T asks Ss to free talk about these two questions: Do you know your birthday Do you know how to talk about the date of birthday in English Then, T asks Ss to watch a video to find out how to talk about the date of birthday in English Ss free talk about two questions and watch a video to find out how to talk about the date of birthday in English. Watching TV and find the expressions can practice Ss’s ability of viewing and thinking ability.
Step 3 T leads Ss to know the months words from January to December and learn how to pronounce them and write them. T plays a game with Ss to strengthen them. Ss learn the words. Ss plays a game to strengthen them. It can lay a good foundation for the following learning.
Step 4 T teaches the usage of ordinal words and asks Ss to observe cardinals and ordinal words to find out the rule of cardinals changing ordinal words. Ss firstly learn the usage of ordinal words and the rule of cardinals changing ordinal words by observing cardinals and ordinal words Observing and figuring out the rule can improve the ability of observation and discrimination.

While-listening (15’)
Step 5 T plays the recording for the first time to ask Ss to finish 1b. After that, T asks Ss to finish the exercises. Ss listen to the record to finish 1b and then finish the exercises.. It can help Ss improve their ability of listening. Exercises can help Ss advance their learning of the sentence patterns.
Step 6 T plays the recording in 2b for the first time to ask Ss to complete 2b and the second time to complete 2c . After that. T invites some Ss to show their answers. Ss listen to the tape for two times and finish part 2b and 2c. It can help Ss further improve their ability of speaking.
Step 7 T plays the recording in 2c to let Ss to retell the tape. Ss retell the tape It can help Ss further improve their ability of listening.
