Good morning, everyone. It’s my great honor to stand here and share my teaching ideas with you. Today I am going to talk about Unit 6 I’m going to study computer science. Section B (2a-2c) which is from Go for it, Grade 8. My presentation consists of four parts: analysis of the teaching material, teaching methods and learning methods, teaching procedures and teaching reflections. Now I will state them briefly.

1. Status and Function
This unit is the sixth unit of the book. And this period is a reading lesson. The topic is about Resolution. It also makes a preparation for the next unit, So it plays a role in connecting the last unit with the next unit.
2.Teaching Aims
According to the new reformation and the fact of students, I establish the teaching aims from the following three points:
(1) Knowledge objects
① Students learn the words about resolution: doctor, university, promise…
② They learn the new phrases: keep studying, make a promise, a weekly plan ...
(2) Ability objects
① They can make the resolution.
② They can master the ways of reading.
(3) Emotional objects
Students can keep studying hard and make proper resolutions.
3.Key Points and Difficult Points
(1) Key points
According to the teaching aims, the key point is that students can use correct words, phrases and sentences to make resolutions.
(2) Difficult points
They can make proper resolutions and master the ways of reading.

1. Analysis of the Students
⑴ My students are in Grade 8. They have learnt English for several years, so most of them grasp the basic skills of reading.
⑵Most students like to make resolutions. So they read more positively and actively in class. I will use more images to attract their attention. And I will create more opportunities for them to read and express themselves.
⑶However, our school is a rural school. Most students are from the countryside. Due to kinds of reasons, some of them did not form good reading habits. Therefore, I pay more attention to helping them develop better reading habits.
2. Learning Methods
As we all know, students are the main bodies in class. Teachers act as guides to lead them to read. In order to be good language readers, my students use Autonomous Learning and Cooperative Learning.
3. Teaching Methods
In order to increase students’ reading interest and improve their abilities of reading, I try to create a relaxing and pleasant environment for them, so I mainly adopt Fast-reading to make students have a general understanding about resolution and Careful-reading to help students be more interested in the passage.
Ⅲ. Teaching Procedures
In the class, there are six steps in detail.
Step 1 Warming up and lead-in
Step 2 Pre-reading
Step 3 While-reading
Step 4 Post-reading
Step 5 Summary
Step 6 Homework
Step1 Warming up and lead-in
At the beginning of the class, after simple greetings, We watch a video and I ask students a question:
What are they talking about
Most students can answer it rightly.
Purpose of design:
Although students may not answer the question perfectly, the most important is that they can think about it and organize the language.
Step 2 Pre-reading
1. Did you make any resolutions last year
2. Were you able to keep them
3. Why or why not
I show three questions to students. Let’s watch the video to know what the answers are.
From it, we know most of students can say something about resolution.
Purpose of design:
To draw students’ attention and create better English learning surroundings.
Step 3 While-reading
There are Fast reading and careful reading.
First Fast reading.
Read the whole passage and match the main idea.
Paragraph One matches to give the meaning of the resolution.
Paragraph Two matches to discuss different kinds of resolutions.
Paragraph Three matches to question the idea of making resolutions.
Purpose of design:
In this part, students have a general understanding about resolutions. More attract students to read the passage in depth.
Next careful reading.
Students can read the passage carefully twice. The first time, they can put A B C D into the passage. The second time, they can read the passage carefully one paragraph by one paragraph.
Purpose of design:
In this part, students can deeply understand the passage about resolution and learn to make proper resolutions.
Step 4 Post-reading
There are two parts. They are discussion and retelling.
First, Students can discuss about “Should we make resolutions Why or why not ” Let’s watch a video to see what the results are.
From it, we know some students think they should make resolutions, because it can help them what to do. Others think they shouldn’t make resolutions, because if they can’t keep them, maybe it is not useful.
Purpose of design:
To improve the abilities of students’ language expressions.
To make students be more interested in the passage.
Second, retelling. ( Retell the story)
In the part, I show a mind map to make students retell the passage. Students can only retell the first paragraph, they can only retell the second paragraph, they can only retell the third paragraph. Of course, they can retell the whole passage.
Purpose of design:
To consolidate it completely.
Step 5 Summary
In this class, students can make resolutions. As a teacher, I have a resolution. My resolution is to make students more excellent. Look at this person, he is the headteacher in our school. He gives us a goal. It is to be first in the province within 10 years. We all know him very well. He is our chairman, Mr Xi. Our country’s resolution is to achieve Chinese dream.
Purpose of design:
To consolidate the knowledge and improve the emotions.
Step 6 Homework
Retell the whole passage.
Write a short passage about resolution.
Purpose of design:
Though it’s a reading lesson, writing is also important. Proper homework can offer students a chance to consolidate the new knowledge.
Blackboard Design:
This is Blackboard design. It is clear to understand the resolution from it. From it, we know what the resolution is, why we make resolutions, we must keep them. If so, we can succeed.
Ⅳ. Teaching Reflections
From the angle of time control, all the steps can be carried out smoothly.
2. In the teaching process, I mainly adopt fast-reading and careful reading to encourage students.
3. In a relaxing and pleasant environment, they are eager to read the passage. The teaching aims are basically achieved.
4. But it’s a pity that the links between each teaching design are not close and natural enough. I should have spent more time thinking about it and I will do it better in the future..
It’s my dream to make each class perfect. It’s interesting, relaxing, humorous, full of love and so on. But I know, there is still a long way to go. If you have some suggestions, please tell me. It will be valuable treasure for my future teaching. That’s all, thanks for your listening.
