教材分析
本单元的主题是“自然灾害”，本单元Discovering Useful Structures 部分的语法结构是that、which、who、whom、whose 引导的限制性定语从句。要求学生掌握定语从句，并能够将这些定语从句用于对具体事务的描述，以提升自己的语言表达和运用能力。
学情分析
授课对象为高一（3）班学生50人。该班学生整体英语基础薄弱，词汇和语法知识都跟不上表达的需求。虽然学生在初中时对定语从句有了一定的了解，能用个别简短的英语句子简单表达自己的观点；但此前与之相关的知识结构并不系统，对限制性定语从句的用法不够熟练，无法把这个语法知识准确灵活地应用在描述图片或事件中，更不能准确应用到语篇写作中。
教学目标
经过本课的学习，学生能够：
1. 辨认限制性定语从句并理解定语从句对丰富句子内容和描述事务特征、补充信息的功能；
2. 熟练掌握限制性定语从句的结构和关系代词的用法；
3. 运用定语从句补充信息，丰富自己的语言表达。
