A: Good morning, Mr. Green. Nice to meet you again. Is there anything I can do for you
B: Good morning, Mr. Wang. For the coming peak season sales, we wants to place an additional order on CIF basis this time as we think it is simpler for you to have the insurance covered. In this case, once the cargo is shipped, insurance can be covered immediately. Besides, your insurance company enjoys a high prestige in settling claims promptly on the principles of seeking the truth from facts and fairness and reasonableness.
A: You are right. Our insurance company has agents in almost all the big cities of the world. Once there are damages or losses , the insurance agent arranges the claiming according to the survey report on behalf of you within 60 days after the arrival of consignment. They will compensate you for the losses according to the risks insured.
B: It sounds great. Then could you please cover W.P.A. and War Risks
A: Yes, we will glad to do so.
B: By the way, I wonder if you could cover other risks than W.P.A. and War Risks.
A: Surely. Besides the above mentioned risks, we also cover the followings: Fresh or Rainwater Damages, Risk of Leakage, Risk of shortage in Weight, Breakage of Packing, T.P.N.D. (Theft Pilferage and Non-Delivery ) and so on. But generally, we don’t cover them unless you want to do it. And the extra premium involved will be your account.
B: Oh, I see. Thanks. Please take W.P.A. and War Risks for this additional order.
A: As the premium for war risk is increasing greatly due to the increase of war risk, we ask you to cover it for your own account.
B: Is it covered in your offer
A: Yes.
B:How long is the validity term of insurance responsibility
A:It is up to 60 days until the goods are unloaded from ships.

B: Ms. Helen, Insurance Agent
Sample Dialogue
A: Good morning, Ms. Helen. I’d like to talk about the insurance of my goods to New York. Could you tell me the coverage of the insurance clauses
B: Well. Usually, there are three basic types, that is , Free From Particular Average, With Particular Average and All Risks.
A: Then what coverage will you take out for the goods on CIF basis
B: As a rule, we only insure the goods With Particular Average
A: I am a little confused about W.P.A and F.P.A. Could you tell me the details about them
B: Sure. W.P.A. means that goods are covered only against hazards to which all the consignments on the same level are subject. It is the minimum and most restrictive coverage.
A: Do you mean partial loss is not covered here
B: That’s right. Goods are covered against partial loss because of major perils under W.P.A.
A: Oh, I see. W.P.A. is more comprehensive. But what if we want to insure the goods against some additional risks, such as fresh water and rain damage, short weight
B: In that case, we shall arrange for them. But as you know, according to the international practice, we do not insure such risks unless they are called for the buyers. So the charges will be for the buyer’s account.
A: You mean the extra premium will be bought by us. No problem. The premium is smaller than the value of the goods.
B: Yes. The goods may have various risks during the long distance sea voyage. Thus safety will be the top priority for your company even at the expense of some extra premiums.
A: Yes, I agree. Then another thing is that we would like to have goods insured for 130% of the invoice value. Is that ok
B: Sure. We have prepared to provide coverage for 130% of the invoice value although our usual practice is to insure the goods at the invoice value plus 10%. However, an extra premium will have to be charged.
A: Ok.
