读后续写-My dad, a repairman
试题呈现:
What my father wore embarrassed me! I wanted him to dress like a doctor or lawyer, but he always dressed like my father, getting up before dawn every day to make breakfast for my mother and me.
We lived in South Texas, where my father worked as a repairman. He often wore a pair of jeans and a shirt, keeping his pencils, glasses and wrenches (扳手) in his breast pocket. His boots were those with steel toes that made them difficult to pull off his feet, which I sometimes helped him with when he returned from repairing cars - his job that also shamed me.
I blamed the way he dressed. I felt that my classmates laughed at me because they’d seen him mowing lawns (修剪草坪) in cut-off jeans and black boots. My classmates’ families paid men to beautify their lawns, while their fathers travelled in the bay wearing lemon-yellow sweaters and expensive shoes.
He preferred clothes that allowed him the freedom to move under cars. So even when taking part in a school trip with me, he was dressed in his repairman’s suit. On the school bus to the campsite, all students on the bus happily chatted with their parents except me, who lowered the head, avoiding spotting my classmates’ mocking glance (讥笑的眼光) or hearing their jokes, which I thought was about nothing else but what my father wore.
I regretted telling my parents the school trip, and I was very angry why my mother had no spare time while my father happened to have a vacation. But my father failed to read my mind. He was very happy, whistling a tune along the way.
Though my father didn’t sense my bad mood, the school bus seemed as sad as I was. It drove more and more slowly and finally it stopped on the roadside. The driver got out to check the bus but found nothing wrong. Students and parents on the bus began to whisper about what was happening, worried that the delay might spoil the journey.

When others were complaining, my father stood up. Curiously, I looked up, wondering what he was going to do, afraid that he would do something further embarrassing me and making a fool of himself. And the next moment, he was beside the driver, explaining that he was a repairman, who could probably offer some help. Before I could do something to stop him, he had already taken out the wrenches out of his breast pocket, put on his glasses and laid himself under the bus. With so many curious eyes watching him, he checked here and there with his expertise, figured out where the problem lay and instantly had it fixed. Making sure that the bus was back in good condition, he crawled out, rose and dusted his cut-off jeans, with smiles written on his face.
The school bus restarted and everyone cheered. The moment Dad got on the bus, thunderous applause erupted from every corner of the bus, signaling their appreciation for my Dad’s timely assistance and admiration for my Dad’s professional skills. The girl next to me even gave me a thumb-up, his eyes glistening with admiration. At this , I felt a wave of pride in my dad surging through my body. The dirty dots on his jeans somehow became beautiful flowers in my eyes and the man who I had always thought embarrassed me transformed into my pride and superman. More importantly, I learned an important lesson: A person deserves our respect and admiration not because he dresses like a lawyer, a doctor or a repairman, but because he has a willing heart, always ready to reach out.

When others were complaining, my father stood up. "Let me have a go." Before I could stop him, he had approached the driver, explained that he was a repairman and offered to help. Seeing him take out a wrench and crawl under the car, I could feel my face burning with shame and embarrassment. But the following moments witnessed him moving under the bus flexibly and having the bus checked and fixed with evident proficiency and expertise. After what seemed like hours, he stood up with heavy sweats, waving his arm and signaling the driver to start the bus .
The school bus restarted and everyone cheered. Thunderous applause erupted among the students and parents, words of thanks echoing on the bus. "Hey, your father's so cool!" The boy before me turned around and his words gained wide approval from other students, their eyes twinkling with admiration. Dumbfounded, I just sat there, looking at my father coming near with a broad smile. His suit was dotted with dirty stains, but was glowing in the bright sunlight. He looked like a
superman with his cape! Never before had I felt so proud of my father!

When others were complaining, my father stood up. He approached the driver and offered his assistance. I lowered my head, with my face flushed, worrying that he would make a fool of himself. To everyone's surprise, my father inspected the engine, his hands expertly navigating the machinery with the same precision he used to fix cars. He quickly identified the problem - a loose wire that had caused the engine to malfunction. With a few swift movements, he tightened the connection, and then made an OK sign to the driver.
The school bus restarted and everyone cheered. No sooner had my father stepped on the bus than they burst into thunderous applause. Everyone was impressed by his enthusiasm and superb skills, including me. But for my father's help, the journey would have been ruined. I felt a surge of pride welling up inside me, having a new appreciation for both my father and his profession. While my father didn't dress like a doctor or a lawyer, he taught me the profound truth that what really matters is not the way we wear, but the way we act.
读后续写My path to football
试题呈现:
Nowadays people look on YouTube, watch the World Cup and see that I am now a superstar, but they don't know the journey. They don't know about my living room walls turning from white to black. They don't know about my father working under a little roof. They don't know about my mother riding an old yellow bicycle through the rain and the cold and several dangerous areas every day when I was a little boy.
Initially, the walls of our house were supposed to be white. But I never remember them being white. At first, they were grey, then turning black. My father was a coal worker. He made charcoal in our house. Have you ever seen charcoal being made The little bags you buy in the store for barbecue, they come from somewhere, and honestly, it's a very dirty business.
I remember one day I was bagging up the charcoal with my dad, and it was really cold and raining. All we had was the tiny roof over our heads. After a few hours, I got to go to school, where it was warm. My dad stayed out there working, all day. If he didn't sell that day, maybe we wouldn't have enough to eat.
I thought to myself: At some point, everything is going to change. For this, I owe football everything.
I started football early. I played so much football that every two months, my boots would break apart. When I was seven, I must have been pretty good, because I scored 64 goals for my neighborhood team.
That year, my dad got a call from a coach saying they wanted me to play there. My dad asked, “Oh, it’s too far away. Nine kilometers. How will we get him there ” My mom said, “No, no, no! Don’t worry, I’ll take him!”

“Let’s make and sell more charcoal per day to buy a used bike!” my mother said with a determined look. Immediately we sprang into action. My father worked longer hours making as much charcoal as he could, his time occupied mainly by making charcoal, leaving very little time for eating and sleeping. Tired and blacker as he was, smiles could be clearly seen on his face. The moment charcoal was made, my mother would travell every corner of the town and search for all the potential customers, with the resolution to sell all the charcoal. To do my bit, the moment I arrived home back from school, I immediately set down to helping my parents, hoping that my little effort could contribute to buying a secondhand bike. With days wearing on, the money we saved was finally enough for a used bike, one step closer to my football dream.
My mother used the old bicycle to drive me to training every day. Rain or shine, we didn’t even get late for or miss one single training. The nine-kilometer trip to and from the training place witnessed mother’s every devotion to my football practice and our merry laughter all the way. And the training place witnessed my committed training every day in every movement and every strategy. Thankfully, our joint efforts paid off, and I finally made the national team. Better yet, our life improved and everything seemed to be changing for the better. The old bike, though left used, was still in my house, constantly reminding me of my parents’ unconditional love and support and inspiring me to strive towards a more promising future.

“Let’s make and sell more charcoal per day to buy a used bike!” my mother said with a determined look. During the following whole month, in our little black house, my father made charcoal day and night and he nearly had no time to wash his face, which made him look like a moving black coal. My mother began to take responsibility for selling the charcoal. In order to sell all the charcoal, my mother nearly walked every corner of our town in a day. Back from school, I always helped my father fire charcoal or my mother sell charcoal. Ultimately, with the joint efforts of my whole family, we saved sufficient money to buy a used bike.
My mother used the old bicycle to drive me to training every day. My mother biked through town with me on the back and a bag in the basket with my boots. Up hills. Down hills. We would get through some dangerous neighborhoods in the freezing cold rain or in the dangerous dark. The bicycle witnessed me becoming a promising football player. Finally, we bought a comfortable house with pure white wall. My father and mother needn’t work so hard. However, I will never forget the tough journey, always inspiring me to move forward.
犟驴父子世纪大和解
题目
Jeff and I had many conversations during the year, but I will always remember the time he told me about his family. His father, a successful physician, was cold and strict in Jeff’s words. His father had even paved the way for Jeff to attend the same college from which he had graduated.
Jeff was twenty-seven and a successful business planner at a company without a degree. His passion was skiing. When he graduated from high school, he decided to decline his father's offer and, instead, to work with a ski patrol(滑雪巡逻队). With pain in his eyes, Jeff told me he still remembered the day when he told his father he was going to give up college and take a job at a ski resort.
Hearing Jeff’s decision, his father looked off into the distance. Then came the words that still echoed in Jeff’s mind: “You lazy kid. No son of mine is going to work with a ski patrol and does not attend college. I should have known you’d never amount to anything!” The two had not spoken since that conversation.
Later, he was back in the area near where he grew up and he certainly did not want his father to know he was attending college. He was doing this for himself, not for his father. He said it over and over again.
Jeff’s sister had always remained supportive of Jeff’s decisions. She stayed in contact with their father, but Jeff had made her promise that she would not share any information about his life with him.
The day when the graduation ceremony came, I walked around talking to people before it started. I noticed a man with a confused expression.
“Excuse me,” he said as he politely approached me. “What is happening here today ”
“It’s graduation day,” I replied, smiling. “Well, that’s odd,” he said, “my daughter asked me to meet her at this address.” His eyes sparkled and he smiled. “Maybe she completed her associate’s degree and wanted to surprise me!” I helped him find a seat.
Paragraph 1: As I left him, he said, “Thank you. By the way, my name’s Dr. Holstrom.”
Paragraph 2: Jeff was the last person to cross the stage.
范文
As I left him, he said, “Thank you. By the way, my name’s Dr. Holstrom.” The name ringing in my mind, I froze on the spot. Jeff Holstrom! Could this be the cold, stern father who demanded his son attend college or never enter his home again Curiosity and doubt bubbling up, I turned around to get a glimpse of Dr. Holstrom, attempting to find some facial resemblances. Beaming and scanning, Dr. Holstrom seemed to be looking for his daughter. Speeches given, the dean began to read the names of the graduates, inviting them onto the stage one by one to receive their diplomas.(89w)
Jeff was the last person to cross the stage. Having received his diploma, he turned toward the audience, radiant with joy. Suddenly, a lone figure popped into his eyes – Dr. Holstrom. I was not sure how Jeff spotted him in the crowd, but I could tell their eyes met. Dr. Holstrom, gazing at Jeff thoughtfully for a few seconds, opened his arms as if to embrace the air around him. For a moment time seemed to stand still. Jeff came down, smiling with tears in eyes. “My father is here,” he whispered to me, “I think I’m going home.”(90w)
