随着新课程标准的实施，再加上新教材及新高考，英语阅读的重要性越来越重要 ，经常有得阅读者得天下的一说！而我们的课文就是一篇很好的阅读文章，所以对于高一新生，一定要学会阅读课文，并会解决一些阅读问题，还有更深一点，阅读中所包含的一些很好的句型和词组表达法，并且这节课讲了两个我们所爱慕并熟知的郎平和乔丹，所以这节课很重要并且有趣。
【教学目标】
掌握一些郎平和乔丹的伟大事迹，学习他们的优秀品质，理解为什么他（她）们俩个被称为：living legends.

【教学过程】
Step I Revision:
let Ss read the new words and expressions after a short video.
have a dictation of new words and expressions
Step II play a guessing game according to some information about Lang Ping and Michael Jordan.
for example: she is a great athlete and coach in China; she is good at volleyball games
she led women volleyball game to medals .---guess who she is
He is a black player of America; he does well in playing basketball. he is known for his playing basketball; He won many prizes and champions----guess who he is
Step III: Reading
let Ss read the passage quickly and do Exercise 2
let Ss read the passage carefully and do Exercise 3
Language points

根据学生的特点，让学生站起来翻译出课文，再让学生回答相关内容的问题，再让学生去找出知识点，按词组句型分类，条理清晰，最后让学生总结出郎平和乔丹值得我们学习的地方及品质，一节课，全部让学生来做来找来写，充分调动了学生的积极性和动手能力，美中不足的是学生速度慢，调动人不够多。
