The development of China’s space program was first suggested in 1956 by the father of Chinese rocket science, Qian Xuesen (1911-2009). As a result of extensive preparation and planning, the Shenzhou crewed program began in 1992, and the first Chinese astronaut, Yang Liwei, went into space in 2003. Chang’e-1, a lunar orbiter was launched in 2007, while Tiangong-1, an experimental crewed space station was launched in 2011.
In 2019, Chang’e-4 made a soft landing on the far side of the moon. It was mankind’s first successful soft landing on the far side of the moon. A “soft” landing is one where the spacecraft lands in a controlled way, and gets no damage. Twelve hours later, the small Yutu-2 rover12 was released. To understand why Chang’e-4’s soft landing was such an achievement, consider the difficulty of any space mission, especially one to the far side of the moon. While the far side of the moon is often called the dark side of the moon, it is not really dark.
The main problem with landing on the far side of the moon is communication. There is no clear line of sight between the far side of the moon and the Earth. This normally makes radio communication with spacecraft on the far side of the moon impossible. Chinese engineers came up with a unique solution. Before Chang’e-4’s mission (任务), they sent the Queqiao communications satellite into space. When engineers needed to communicate with Chang’e-4 and Yutu-2, they could send radio messages to Queqiao. The messages would then be sent from the satellite down to the Lander and rover. This allowed for contact between Earth and the far side of the moon.
One of the experiments of Chang’e-4’s mission was designed to test a closed ecological (生态的) system that could be extremely important for long-term space missions: The plants produce food and oxygen for the fruit flies, while the fruit flies produce carbon dioxide for the plants. This experiment worked for nine days, but it had to be stopped when the temperatures dropped below -52°C.
8. According to the passage, which of the following statements is true
A. The first Chinese astronaut, Yang Liwei, went into space in 2007.
B. Qian Xuesen is considered the father of the Chinese space program.
C. The development of space program in China started in ancient times.
D. The Chinese space program has been advancing with preparation and planning.
9. Why was Chang’e-4’s landing on the moon such an achievement
A. Because Chang’e-4 landed on the moon successfully.
B. Because Chang’e-4 made a soft landing on the dark side of the moon.
C. Because man had never landed on the moon with the difficulty of space mission.
D Because it was the first time that humans had landed on the moon without any damage.
10. Why was the ecological experiment on Chang’e-4 stopped
A. It got too dark to continue.
B. The Lander no longer had power.
C. It got too cold for the experiment to work.
D. There was not enough oxygen on the moon.
11. Where is this passage probably from
A. A story book B. A textbook
C. A science fiction D. A magazine
D
Research has shown that people tend to get more happiness from spending their money on experiences, such as travel and entertainment, than on things, such as clothes and electronic goods. But are people happier during the purchased (购买的) experience itself Or does the happiness come more from expecting or remembering the experience
A new study, published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, offers an answer. Our experiential purchases bring us greater pleasure in terms of expectation and remembrance than do our material purchases, but they also bring us greater in-the-moment enjoyment, the study found.
For the study, the researchers recruited (招募) 2,635 adults who agreed to receive texts at any time during the day. The texts began with a happiness question, which asked the participants (参与者) to rate how they felt “right now” on a scale from very bad to very good. Half of them were then asked if they had made a material purchase within the past hour, such as clothing or electronic goods. The others were asked if they had made an experiential purchase within the past hour, such as eating in a restaurant or attending a concert.
The researchers found that the purchasers of the experiences express higher levels of happiness than the purchasers of the material goods, no matter how much the purchases cost.
To address possible differences in types of purchasers, the researchers conducted a second study in which they researched more than 5, 000 adults. “We still observed the same result,” said Amit Kumar, the study’s lead author.
The researchers said a possible explanation is the endurance (持久) of experiences in people’s memories, while the observed value of material goods weakens over time.
“If you want to be happier, it might be wise to shift (转变) some of your spending away from material goods and a bit more toward experiences,” Kumar said. “That would likely lead to greater happiness.”
12. Why does the author put forward two questions in paragraph 1
A. To introduce a new study. B. To make a fact clear.
C. To compare different research. D. To doubt the opinion presented.
13. Why did the researchers text the participants
A. To ask them about their spending plans.
B. To monitor their purchasing behavior and emotions.
C. To understand their needs and spending habits.
D. To find out the change in their purchasing choices.
14. What do the underlined words “the same result” in paragraph 5 refer to
A. The desire to purchase things weakens over time.
B. People are more willing to spend money on things.
C. Experiential purchases bring more happiness than material ones.
D. People will get more pleasure from spending money than making it.
15. What did Kumar think people should do in the last paragraph
A. Spend more on experiences.
B. Make future spending decisions.
C. Be happy with what they have bought.
D. Consider its value when buying a product.

One morning in the autumn when I was nine, Mom asked me to do some yard work with her. She had grown some potatoes in our yard that spring. It was time to harvest (收获). She wanted me to help her dig the potatoes. “Do I have to ” I said unhappily.
“Yes,you do,” Mom gave an answer. Then she added, “Change your attitude and it'll be easier.” “That's what you think,” I thought to myself. I sat on the sofa watch TV. Soon Mom wouldn't wait any longer and ordered me to follow her.
Worried that she'd be angry, I walked slowly out. I was unwillingly to move my feet—almost as though there were magnets (磁铁) fixed to them and the ground was metal. Or it felt like my socks were filled with wet sand. Or maybe my feet just stuck to the ground.
Following Mom's instructions, I picked up a shovel and started to work. I needed to be careful when digging up potatoes, otherwise I would damage them. The damaged potatoes would easily rot (腐烂). I pushed the shovel into the earth slowly and lifted the earth onto one side. When that was done, potatoes came out. Then I had to use my hands to free the potatoes from below. After that I placed them into a basket. It was really dirty and boring.
注意:1. 续写词数应为100左右;
I was about to give up the work when Mom's words came to my mind.

A. The first Chinese astronaut Yang Liwei, went into space in 2007.
D. Because it was the first time that humans had landed on the moon without any damage.
A textbook

A 13. B 14. C 15. A
文章第二段讲到“A new study, published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, offers an answer. (发表在《实验社会心理学杂志》上的一项新研究给出了答案。)”可知,作者在第一段中提出两个问题是为了介绍一项新研究。故选A。
文章第三段讲到“The texts began with a happiness question, which asked the participants (参与者) to rate how they felt “right now” on a scale from very bad to very good. Half of them were then asked if they had made a material purchase within the past hour, such as clothing or electronic goods. (文本以一个幸福问题开始,该问题要求参与者从非常糟糕到非常好对他们“现在”的感觉进行评分。其中一半被问及是否在过去一小时内购买了材料,如服装或电子产品。)”可知,研究人员给参与者每天不定时发消息是为了监控他们的购买行为和情绪。故选B。
【14题详解】
词语猜测题。文章第四段讲到“The researchers found that the purchasers of the experiences express higher levels of happiness than the purchasers of the material goods, no matter how much the purchases cost. (研究人员发现,无论购买成本如何,体验的购买者都比物质商品的购买者表现出更高的幸福感。)”以及第五段讲到“To address possible differences in types of purchasers, the researchers conducted a second study in which they researched more than 5, 000 adults (为了解决购买者类型的可能差异,研究人员进行了第二项研究,对5000多名成年人进行了研究。两次研究的结论相同)”可知,因此划线部分所在句子的意思是:我们仍然观察到相同的结果。所以划线部分的意思是“与购买物品相比,把钱花在生活体验上能让人更快乐”。故选C。
【15题详解】
细节理解题。文章最后一段讲到“If you want to be happier, it might be wise to shift some of your spending away from material goods and a bit more toward experiences (如果你想更快乐,明智的做法可能是将部分支出从物质上转移,更多地用于体验)”可知,Kumar认为人们应该在体验上多花点钱。故选A。
How to Avoid Identity Theft
Every year, a large quantity of personal information is leaked into the wrong hands.
Millions of people suffer the identity theft. Maybe there’s spyware on their computer, or a service they use has a security problem, leaving customers at risk of exposure. But there is no need to fear. It’s a lot easier than you might think to set up proper defenses.____16____
Here’s how.
Clean your computer and smart-phone
___17___before you put new security measures into place. This means fixing a good anti-virus program and taking the time to clear out any spyware that may have already infected your system.
Ensure your Wi-Fi safety
Now that your computer is clean, you should plug any holes in your home network. It’s fairly easy for potential criminals to gain access to your information if they’re able to share your connection. ___18___. Different routers (路由器) will have different setup pages, so the actual step-by-step will vary, but the end result will be the same. Here’s what to do: Enable basic password protection. You also need to change the password that allows you to access your router’s settings to begin with. Then change the original name of your wireless network. Don’t use any personal information here.
___19___
Everything you just finished could be for nothing if a thief has your existing passwords, so you need to change them for every service you use. What you’ve heard is true: Passwords should use a variety of special characters, numbers, letters, and cases when possible. ___20___, and there should be a different one for each website you use.
Doing this or keeping track of it all is pain, which is why people don’t do it and wind up with stolen identities. Try it, and there’s no need to worry about all those problems.
A. Dig deep with your passwords
B. They should be close to random
C. Use the passwords in the same way
D. In fact you can easily do it all in a weekend
E. However, it is a challenge to set up a defense
F. Make sure your devices are as spotless as possible
G. That’s why you want to be careful when using public Wi-Fi
D 17. F 18. G 19. A 20. B
根据上文“It’s a lot easier than you might think to set up proper defenses”(建立适当防御比你想象的要容易得多。) D.“In fact, you can easily do it all in a weekend”(事实上,你可以很容易地在一个周末做到这一切),说明做好防御是不需要花费太多时间的,即方法很容易。
2. 根据下文“This means fixing a good anti-virus program and taking the time to clear out any spyware that may have already infected your system.”(这意味着修复一个好的反病毒程序,并花时间清除任何可能已经感染你的系统的间谍软件。) F.“Make sure your devices are as spotless as possible”( 确保你的设备尽可能的干净),符合题意,故选F。
3. 根据本段标题“Ensure your Wi-Fi safety”(确保你的无线网络安全)及设空前“It’s fairly easy for potential criminals to gain access to your information if they’re able to share your connection.”(如果潜在的罪犯能够分享你的连接,他们很容易获取你的信息。) G.“That’s why you want to be careful when using public Wi-Fi”(这就是为什么你在使用公共无线网时要小心),选项中“Wi-Fi”和标题关键词一致,符合题意,故选G。
根据下文“Everything you just finished could be for nothing if a thief has your existing passwords, so you need to change them for every service you use. ”(如果一个小偷有你现有的密码,你刚刚完成的一切可能都是徒劳,所以你需要为你使用的每个服务更改密码。)可知,要对自己用的密码进行修改,选项A.“Dig deep with your passwords”(深入挖掘你的密码)。
5. 根据上文“ Passwords should use a variety of special characters, numbers, letters, and cases when possible.”(密码应尽可能使用各种特殊字符、数字、字母和大小写。) B.“They should be close to random.”(它们应该是随机的。)

The dirt on my hands began to drop as if it was trying to take away my bad attitude. I went all out to work, singing and admiring each potato I dug up. Amazingly, I began to find harvesting potatoes interesting and meaningful. I said to Mom, “You were right. The work is easier.” She smiled and looked at me with approval. That day it really made sense for me and I carry those words in my mind until today. After all, work makes people happy.
