①We usually think that garbage is dirty and useless. However, an art exhibition(展览) in 2022 proves that "useless" things can actually be helpful.
②Dear Pretty Rubbish, an art event organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWFN) and digital media art company Blackbow, was held in Beijing. It asked questions about the relationship between our lifestyles and our garbage.
③"We hope that everyone who visited the show can think about how 'useless things' are produced, why they are tossed out and whether 'useless things' are really useless." said Cao Yujia, the design director at Blackbow.
④The organizers said that all the raw materials for the exhibition were collected from community garbage cans.
⑤Artists Zhou Yuxuan and Liu Yifan collected nylon cable ties (尼龙扎带), LED lights and drink bottles from designers' workshops to create a work where plastics, in the shape of cells, "grow" in a corner. There, the lights blink (闪烁) to imitate (模仿) "breathing". When people walk near it, the work forms light patterns, as if communicating with the visitors. Speaking about the work, Zhou said, "It's like some kind of communication between humans and plastics."

September is usually the start of a new season-but what you call that season depends on where you are and whom you ask. In the UK, people will tell you it's "autumn". However, cross the Atlantic and you'll find that people use "fall" and "autumn" when talking about this time of year. In the English language, the season has two widely accepted names. Why does it have to be so confusing(令人迷惑的)
Before either of the two words appeared in the dictionary, the seasons dividing the cold and warm months didn't have common names. The main thing people did during the pre-winter time was gathering crops, so it was called "harvest" in Old English.
Then, in the 1600s, more and more people left farms and moved into cities. Without farming, the word "harvest" became less useful to people in cities. Some English speakers needed a different name for the season. They knew leaves fell from trees during that season, so people called the season "the fall of the leaf". or "fall" for short. But by the end of the 1600s, "autumn", from the French word "autompne" and the Latin word "autumnus", was introduced in England and took the place of the word "fall" as the expression for the harvesting season.
At the same time, British people were making their first trips to North America. They brought the words "fall" and "autumn" with them. Today, using both words to describe the season is a very American thing.

A US high school with only 200 students is producing some of the world's best technology.
Students at this school made cars with improved fuel efficiency(燃油效率) and other inventions, too. And now, the students are designing a washing machine for outer space. They hope it will be accepted by NASA or us.
NASA asked for ideas through ifs HUNCH program, which is short for "High School United with NASA to Create Hardware". Braham Area High School is one of the 100 schools in the program.
The challenge is to come up with a good way to wash clothes on long-time space tasks, where air and water don't mix and soap can't be used. On shorter space tasks, astronauts simply throw away their dirty clothes. For longer tasks, a different solution is needed.
The team has already built a system using a series of pumps(泵) and vacuum chambers(真空室)，but NASA were afraid that it might not be durable(耐用的).
The washing machine isn't the only NASA project Brahma students are working on. They're also designing and building a track system to hold equipment. NASA said it plans to use their system.
They're also designing an automated(自动化的) feeding system for space mice. NASA regularly takes mice into space as test subjects.
"To get a kid to do something that they never thought they could do, that's really great! " said Luke Becker, the school's technology teacher. "There are kids who never planned to do anything in technology until they had these chances."
