形容词最主要的功能是修饰名词，充当定语。其实，
形容词作状语的用法也是不少见的，多用来表达人物
的心理状态。

读后续写技巧——巧用形容词作状语
句型一: 主谓……,+形容词（短语）
Jane rose at the break of day, hungry and thirsty.
2. Bernard was greatly encouraged by John and other boys, full of confidence in his plan.
3. At the end of the day, he came home with the money he earned, quite happy.
4. To his mother's relief, the little boy came back from the dangerous situation, safe and sound.
5. Then, Jane stood there still, ready to give Tom a huge hug.
句型二: 形容词短语, +主谓……
1. Deep in thought, Mary had sat still against the door for more than 20 minutes.
2. Depressed and helpless, Eric couldn't control his emotion any longer and burst into tears.
3. Curious to know what was happening inside, Eric pushed the door open and slipped into the house.
［发现规律］形容词(短语)作伴随状语时，
既可以在主谓结构的前面，也可以在后面，即
两种句型都可以。作原因状语时，在前面，用
句型二。作结果状语时，在后面，用句型一。
［拓展知识］请记住形容词作状语结构中常用的表示情感类的形容词。
高兴的/开心的：delighted, happy, cheerful, joyful, pleased, overjoyed；
激动的：excited, thrilled；
满意的：content, satisfied；
担心的： worried, anxious；
沮丧的/失望的/绝望的：depressed, upset,
low in spirits, disappointed, discouraged, frustrated,
desperate；
害怕的/恐惧的：afraid, fearful, frightened, terrified,
scared；
迷惑的：puzzled, confused；
惊讶的：surprised, amazed, astonished, shocked；
感动的：moved, touched；
感恩的：thankful, grateful；
自豪的：proud；
疲惫的：tired, exhausted等

读后续写（一）
(2021届河北保定上学期期末） I got up at 4 am to receive a call from my daughter who needed my help to get home from the snowy mountain . After I helped her get a taxi , I noticed I was out of cigarettes , so I went to the gas station up the street to purchase some . There I saw a young man wrapped in a thin blanket , trying to keep out of the snow . I went in and bought my cigarettes .
As I walked out of the station , this young man asked me for a cigarette . I pulled out one , gave him and left . I just went forward a few steps and suddenly I realized that I should do something for him . I returned and asked him if he wanted a hot coffee . Obviously he couldn’t hide his eagerness to get one and said “ yes , please ”. Again I went in the station and bought him an extra large cup .
When I went back home , the pitiful look of the poor guy being out in the cold flashed before my eyes . Without hesitation I grabbed my warm coat and hurried to the guy . Helping him put on the coat , I told him there was a shelter nearby where he could ask for help . I asked him to promise me he would do it
At about 6 o ' clock , I got home . Seeing my daughter arrive safely and get ready for bed , I rested my heavy body on the sofa wondering about the guy at the gas station . So I made a call to the shelter and told the nice girl on the phone that there was a guy out in the cold . Told that they had one or two beds left , I quickly got into my car and drove to the gas station .
