“It’s Day 45 of our expedition(探险) to the South Pole. This must be one of the most difficult days I’ve ever had,” I thought with a heavy breath as I walked against the wind and snow. We’re finally just a few miles away from our destination(目的地).
This journey has been special even though at times it felt like it was never going to end. First, it’s not easy to move over the white snow and ice that feels like an ocean. Sometimes it’s white everywhere and it’s hard to see more than a few metres ahead because of storms. Luckily, we have planned the route well.
Another challenge of the journey is preparing food. For example, we have to eat any hot food fast as it gets cold very soon. Sometimes, we just have some nuts and sweets since there’s no time to stop for a proper meal. Even so, we’ve always made sure that we eat the right food so that we can continue our journey with enough energy.
I think the hardest part is to protect our feet. It would be awful if we couldn’t get to the pole because of injuries(损伤). Our team doctor has always treated our injuries well and has kept us in good health.
It will feel wonderful to be finally standing at the South Pole. We are all expecting the exciting moment.
9.Where is the writer now according to the text
A.Near the South Pole. B.On the way to the ocean.
C.Just at the destination. D.A few miles from the right route.
10.What trouble do the writer and his partners have on the way
A.It’s hard to cross the ocean. B.There is no hot food to eat.
C.The team doctor isn’t helpful. D.The weather is cold and windy.

A. B. C. D.
12.In which part of the newspaper can we read the text
A.Business. B.Journeys. C.News. D.Advertisements.

Booking a museum ticket this past summer was not easy. Visitors often found that tickets for the following week had been fully booked. Across China, museum halls were filled with visitors during the summer vacation. To many museums, such crowds had not often been seen before. So, what was behind this “museum craze(狂热)”
Part of the reason is a growing interest in traditional Chinese culture, according to Guo Sike, leader of the Confucius Museum in Shandong province.
“Nowadays, young Chinese love traditional Chinese culture,” said Guo. He added that modern technologies have also played a role. They allow people to experience traditional culture in more ways.
The Shaanxi History Museum in the city of Xi’an also saw an increase in visitors. The museum can only allow 12,000 people to visit each day. Its ticket booking app, however, received more than 600,000 clicks a day. To solve the problem, the museum called off its Monday rest. It was also open for more hours on Sundays.
Popular study tours also helped bring more people to museums. The Confucius Museum saw many of these tours. In Xi’an, the Qinqiang Opera was a popular subject of study tours. Local museums offered chances to learn the culture.
“Museums are bridges. They connect the past, present and future,” said Yang Chaoming, a professor at Shandong University. “More and more people wish to better learn about traditional Chinese culture through museum visits.”
13.What can we know according to Guo Sike
A.The Confucius Museum is playing an important role.
B.Modern technologies can greatly help to book tickets.
C.More and more Chinese enjoy our traditional culture.
D.The Qinqiang Opera is a popular subject of study tours.
14.The underlined words “called off” probably mean “______”.
A.advised B.chose C.stopped D.provided
15.From the last paragraph, we can infer that ______.
A.the price of the museum tickets will be higher and higher
B.bridges may be able to connect the past, present and future
C.the winter vacation must be the best time to visit museums
D.Chinese museums will find more ways to welcome visitors
16.What’s the best title for the text

Sometimes when the rain falls hard and fast on you, it might hurt a little. But what happens when it hits a mosquito (蚊子) A 2012 study says when a raindrop falls on a mosquito, it’s like when a bus hits a person. Besides, the little insect is hit by a raindrop about once every 20 seconds. 17
A mosquito is as big as a raindrop, but it is much lighter — 0.002g only. 18 Because the mosquito is so light, when it is hit by a raindrop, it won’t experience a force (力量) that is strong enough to kill it.
The study also found that when a mosquito is hit by a raindrop, the insect is pushed by the raindrop and falls together with it. 19 Why Because it is covered with hairs which keep off water. After dropping about 6 cm, it will roll (翻滚) off the raindrop and fly away.
20 If the mosquito flies too low when it is hit by the raindrop, it won’t have time to fly off. Then it will hit the ground and meet its death.
A.A mosquito will die when it rains. B.This saves its life in raindrop attacks. C.But the mosquito doesn’t get wet easily. D.However, this trick isn’t always successful. E.So why don’t we see many dead mosquitoes after it rains

As we all know, forming healthy eating habits does great good to us. It can make our body strong. It can also keep us full of energy all day.
In order to form healthy eating habits, we’d better have different healthy food every day, such as vegetables, tofu, eggs and meat. Second, we mustn’t eat too much for each meal. Too much food makes us feel uncomfortable and is harmful to our health. At the same time, we should stay away from food high in fat, salt and sugar so that we can’t become fat.
“You are what you eat”, as the old saying goes. So try to form good eating habits and stay healthy. Let’s take action now!
Yours,
Li Hui
