①A culture guide named Persephone welcomes travelers to Greece and takes them through a famous cave in the north. The guide moves smoothly around the underground area and can talk about it in 33 languages.
②Persephone is very intelligent. It is a human-sized robot. The robot has been in operation at the Alistrati Cave, 135 kilometers northeast of the city of Thessaloniki. Persephone guides visitors through the first 150 meters of the cave that is open to the public. For the remaining 750 meters, a human guide takes over. The robot can give its part of the tour in 33 languages. It can also answer 33 questions, but only in the Greek language.
③Nikos Kartalis is the scientific director at the Alistrati site. He had the idea of creating the robot when he saw one on televisionguiding visitors at an art show. Persephonewas built by the National Technology andResearch Foundation and cost about 118 000euros.
④Kartalis said the cave is 3 million years old and was first explored in 1974. It opened to visitors in 1998. This cave is one of the most beautiful, not only in Greece but in Europe,as well.

It can do two more stops, but it is too slow for the tour.Persephone's creators are considering ways to increase its speed. The robot begins the tourby saying,“My name is Persam the daughter of the goddess Demeter and the wifeof Hades, the god of the Underworld. Iwelcome you to my under Earth kingdom, theAlistrati Cave.”
⑥Many visitors are interested in the robot guide. Patrick Markes traveled to Greece from the Czech Republic. “It was surprising forme," he said.“I've never experienced such a thing.”He added he enjoyed the slower speedof the robot guide.“It goes slower,so I can look around,” Markes said.

①When kids sit down to eat lunch at school, fruit and vegetables may not be their first choice. But with more time at the lunch table, they are more likely to pick up those healthy foods. If we nutrition and health, insuring longer school lunch breaks can help achieve those goals, according to the research from the University of Illinois.
②“Ten minutes of seated lunch time or less is quite common. Scheduled lunch time may be longer, but students have to wait in line to get their food. This means the amount of time children actually have to eat their meals is much less than the scheduled time,” says Melissa Pflugh Prescott, assistant professor in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. “ During shorter lunch periods, children ate the fruit and vegetable parts of their meal less, while there was no significant difference in the amount of beverages or ; entrees they consumed. It makes sense that you might eat the part of the meal you look forward to first, and if there’s enough time : left you might go toward the other parts. But : if there’s not enough time, those items suffer, and they tend to be fruit and vegetables,Prescott explains.
③Our findings support policies that require at least 20 minutes of seated lunch time at school, she states. School lunch time policies ' can be decided at the district level, with some i room for individual schools to set their own standards ; for example, schools can institute a longer lunch time than the district mandates : (授权).
④Prescott notes that longer lunch time can also have beneficial effects for children beyond healthy eating. “The amount of seated time children have is also a really valuable time for ;have limited opportunities to do so throughout the school day. We found significantly fewer social interactions during the 10-minute lunch time That indicates other positive outcomes may come from longer lunch breaks as well,” she concludes
1.Why do students eat fruit and vegetables less at school according to Prescott
A.They are unwilling to wait in line.
B.There is not enough time for them.
C.They^re not used to a balanced diet.
D.There is too much study pressure for them.
2.What does the underlined word "institute" in paragraph 3 probably mean
A.Set up. B. Put off.
C. Hand in. D. Look into.
3What does the last paragraph mainly talk about
A.Key reasons for a longer lunch time.
B.The importance of a healthy diet.
C.Other benefits of a longer lunch time.
D.The detailed time of a lunch time.
4.What can be the best title for the text
A.Eating Lunch at School Makes Children Healthier
B.Longer School Lunch Time Can Insure Students Learn Better
C.Kids at School Spend Much Time Waiting in Line for Lunch
D.Longer Lunch Time Helps Kids Eat More Fruit and Vegetables

School lunch time policies ' can be decided at the district level, with some i room for individual schools to set their own standards ; for example, schools can institute a longer lunch time than the district mandates : (授权).
当然是set up
(第二段倒数第二句)It makes sense that you might eat the part of the meal you look forward to first, and if there's enough time left you might go toward the other parts.
It作形式主语,真正的主语是that引导的主语从句;you look forward to...是省略了关系代词that或which的定语从句,修饰先行词the part ofthe meal;if 引导条件状语从句。
①Rainforests are home to a rich variety of medicinal plants, food, birds and animals. Can you believe that a single bush(灌木丛)in the Amazon may have more species of ants than the whole of Britain! About 480 varieties of trees may be found in just one hectare of rainforest.
②Rainforests are the lungs of the planet-storing vast quantities of carbon dioxide and producing a significant amount of the world's oxygen. Rainforests have their own perfect system for ensuring their own survival; the tall trees make a canopy(树冠层)of branches and leaves which protect themselves, smaller plants, and the forest animals from heavy rain, intense dry heat from the sun and strong winds.
③Amazingly, the trees grow in such a way that their leaves and branches, although close together, never actually touch those of another tree. Scientists think this is the plants' way to prevent the spread of any tree diseases and make life more difficult for leaf-eating insects like caterpillars. To survive in the forest, animals must climb, jump or fly across the gaps. The ground floor of the forest is not all tangled leaves and bushes, like in films, but is actually fairly clear. It is where dead leaves turn into food for the trees and other forest life.
④They are not called rainforests for nothing! Rainforests can generate 75%of their own rain. At least 80 inches of rain a year is normal-and in some areas there may be as much as 430 inches of rain annually. This is real rain-your umbrella may protect you in a shower, but it won't keep you dry if there is a full rainstorm. In just two hours, streams can rise ten to twenty feet. The humidity(湿气)of large rainforests contributes to the formation of rainclouds that may travel to other countries in need of rain.
