By my mid-20s, I’d finished my master in psychology, and I was working in Dublin as a health researcher. It
was mostly data and statistics work staring at a screen. I was earning more than most of my friends, living the city life, going out at weekends. I had a good pension ( 养老金) and annual leave but it caused a lot of anxiety and
worry.I was really unhappy.
I wanted to get back to feeling passionate about something so I started thinking about the things I used to love. As a child, I’d always been involved in the outdoors, and I used to love hiking but all that had stopped after secondary school. I decided to volunteer with a local youth group and within a month, I’d gone camping with them.
I absolutely loved it. It was likes witching on a lightbulb. This was what I’d been missing.
I started taking courses in mountain skills and wilderness first aid, and by August I was working my usual job in the week, and I was a climbing club leader at weekends. I loved connecting with nature, connecting with other
people.
Through all this, I learnt about the whole field of nature-based therapies ( 疗法). It was the perfect fit to combine my psychology background with my passion for the outdoors. I began taking courses in wild therapy, forest bathing and ecopsychology. I left my government job and in July 2020 I launched my business Nature
Therapy Ireland, which is booming now.
I’d thought I’d always live in a city but last year, I moved to Tipperary to live at the foot of a mountain, surrounded by nature. If I’m feeling stressed, I can step outside in my bare feet and stand on the grass to ground myself. In Dublin, the front door felt like a barrier—I had to have my keys, my phone, my jacket before I could
even go out and find a green space. My life now is leading nature connection hikes and forest bathing walks. My
salary has halved for the moment but I’ve adjusted. I’ve never looked back.
24. What did the writer think of her job in Dublin
A. Stressful. B. Valueless.
C. Insecure. D. Demanding.
25. What does the underlined sentence mean in paragraph 2
A. She enjoyed her voluntary work.
B. She realized what she really loved.
C. Recalling the past made her happy.
D. A bright future was in store for her.
26. What drove the writer to launch her business Nature Therapy Ireland
A. Her adventurous experience.
B. Her leadership and background.
C. Her connection with other people.
D. Her major and passion for nature.
27. Why did the writer compare her life in Dublin with that in Tipperary
A. To highlight how boring city life was.
B. To call on people to get back to nature.
C. To show her satisfaction with her change.
D. To indicate how successful her business was.

Many people have participated into lots of virtual meetings these years. Some research shows this adjustment
might not impact workplace productivity to any great degree. A new study, though, suggests otherwise.
In the study, 602 participants were randomly paired and asked to come up with creative uses for a product. They were also randomly selected to work together either in person or virtually. The pairs were then ranked by assessing their total number of ideas, as well as those concepts’ degree of novelty, and asked to submit their best
idea. Among the groups, virtual pairs came up with significantly fewer ideas, suggesting that something about
face-to-face interaction generates more creative ideas. The findings could stiffen employers’ resolve to urge or
require their employees to come back to the office.
“We ran this experiment based on feedback from companies that it was harder to innovate with remote
workers,” said lead researcher Melanie Brucks. “Unlike other forms of virtual communication, like phone calls or
e-mail, videoconferencing copies the in-person experience quite well, so I was surprised when we found
meaningful differences between in-person and video interaction for idea generation. ”
When random objects were placed in both the virtual and physical rooms, the virtual pairs of participants spent
more time looking directly at each other rather than letting their look wander about the room and taking in the
entire scene. Eyeing one’s whole environment and noticing the random objects were associated with increased idea
generation. On platforms, the screen occupies our interactions. Our look wavers less. “Looking away might come
across as rude, ” said Brucks,“so we have to look at the screen because that is the defined context of the interaction,
the same way we wouldn’t walk to another room while talking to someone in person. ”
Like most educators, Brucks has primarily taught virtually in the past three years, and she did notice some
benefits of the approach as well. Her students were more likely to take turns speaking and her shyer students spoke
up more often, rid of the anxiety that comes from addressing a large classroom. Brucks found that one solution to
improving virtual idea generation might be to simply turn off the camera, for her students felt “freer” and more
creative when asked to do so. And this may be sound advice for the workplace.
Virtual teamwork can’t replace face-to-face teamwork. Idea selection proficiency (能力) is only valuable if
you have strong options to select from, and face-to-face teams are the best means to generate winning options.
Perhaps the workplace will find a compromise—a sweet spot in the middle that balances working from both home
and office.
28. What does the underlined word “stiffen” in Paragraph 2 most probably mean
A. Shake. B. Revise. C. Challenge. D. Strengthen.
29. At first, lead researcher Melanie Brucks might think that .
A. videoconferencing can’t compare with in-person communication
B. participants should make eye contact in an online meeting
C. the feedback from companies seems questionable
D. creative ideas may emerge from casual thoughts
30. What can we learn about Brucks’ class
A. Her students relieved anxiety by speaking up. B. Her students progressed in focusing attention.
C. Her students took advantage of virtual learning. D. Her students displayed talent for public speaking.
32. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage
A. Interacting Virtually Impacts Working Participation B. Maintaining Teamwork Improves Idea Generation
C. Grouping Randomly Increases Productivity D. Brainstorming Online Limits Creativity
D
Your emotion helps you make sense of the world. At the core of an emotion is a subjective experience of the
valence of it — what emotion scientists call “affect” (情感). Generally speaking, affect is what we are most focused
on. Do you have chocolate cake in front of you That’s good! Do you see a spider on the table! That’s bad!
Your affective reactions tell you which experiences are desirable, and which aren’t, but the total emotional
experience includes all you do and think. You can learn a lot by observing and describing them. You can also learn
a lot by appreciating their secret life.
The problem is: the affective features of emotions tend to dominate. Our subjective valence of emotion is
almost all we can see. When emotions are only about what is pleasant or unpleasant in subjective experience right
now the more important features of emotion disappear.
,
If you can slow down and expand; if you stop running or clinging (沉浸其中) and adopt a sense of curiosity, emotions become more subtle and different. When fear comes up, don’t walk away so that fear dissipates. Instead, stay. Allow yourself to feel the nervousness, the sweating, and everything else that comes along with it. It is one of the hardest things to do in life, but it’s also one of the most rewarding. If you run, you are telling basic parts of your brain, “I guess this threat really was real. I better stay away from it.” You are training yourself to fear, regardless of
that situation. If you cling, you are saying, “Escape from this emotion is a threat”, and since it is not a happy
experience, happiness slips through your hands like sand.
Note that you can not fool yourself. Just allow the full emotion. You will never enter into their secret life until you stop running or clinging. To control your life, you need to actively train your emotions to be your ally (同盟).
Observe. Describe. Appreciate. Do that and you may find you have allies for healthy living that were there all
along.
32. Why does the author mention “chocolate cake” and “spider” in paragraph 1
A. To explain the complex response of emotions.
B. To show the subjective experience of emotions.
C. To indicate the goodness and badness of the world.
D. To emphasize the significance of emotions in life.
33. What is the consequence if you just focus on your present feelings
A. The present feelings are less obvious.
B. The subjective emotions are less powerful.
C. The overall picture of emotions is easier to ignore.
D. The observation and description of emotions are easier.
34. What does the underlined word “dissipates” in Paragraph 4 probably refer to
A. Deepens. B. Spreads. C. Disappears. D. Sticks.
35. What is the text mainly about
A. The secret of emotions. B. The subjective experience.
C. The importance of allies in life. D. Magical functions of emotions.

How to Organize Your Digital Files
Searching for a file on your computer is a whole lot easier than digging through a pile of papers, yet it’s far from being a perfect system. Lately, it’s been hit-or-miss for me. 36 I hope some of these tips will help
you.
Use “resources”, “in progress”, “final”, and “scrap” folders for projects.
There are plenty of ways to title your subfolders for projects, but one of the most intuitive(使用简便的) is to
have folders for stages of your project. 37
The “resources” folder is for things like images, documents, and other items that are needed to complete your project. 38 “Final,” as you might imagine, is for the project files once the project has been approved and is
done. “Scrap” is for anything you want to save from the project that doesn’t belong in the “final” folder.
39
____
It’s near impossible to find a photo quickly when you have thousands of photos all named something like
“20211108_0978234.jpg.” So for photos, I like to have a date structure and folders for key events or categories,
such as: 2021 >01 (for the month)>2021-01 Mom and Dad 50 Anniversary LA.This way, you can either browse
your photos by year and month or search for folders that include “Mom”, “Dad”, “Anniversary”, or “LA .
Use tags.
In addition to creating a folder structure that works for you, consider tagging files. 40 Say, for
example, you want to see all of your photos for all of your holiday celebrations. You can set up a tag for
“holidays.” And then to narrow down the results, you can search using the tag.
A .With tags, you can connect multiple files across folders.
B .For photos, use a date structure and keywords for your folders.
C .This way, you can always know which is the final project file to grab.
D .The standards will keep files organized and make them easier on the eye.
E .“In progress” is for the current working version or versions of the project.
F .To find files more efficiently, I’ve been rearranging my digital filing system.
G .Move your photos to a more specific folder or back them up on an external storage device.

I remember being happy for my friend Avery when she won the karate (空手道) championship we’d both competed in. But I’m embarrassed to admit I was also pretty envious! But when she and I tried out for Alice in
Wonderland, though, things went the opposite way.
“I really hope I get picked to be Alice,” said Avery.
“You’d make a great Alice!” I said. “I don’t care what part I get as long as I’m in it.” “So you’dbe happy to
have a small part like the Dormouse ” she asked.
“Exactly!” I said.
A few days later,Avery and I raced over to the theater office, where the director had posted the cast list.
“Wow!” said Avery. “You got the part of Alice and I got the part of the Dormouse.”
“That can’t be right,” I said. “There must be some mistake!”
But I really and truly was given the part of Alice. I’m pretty sure the reason I’d done well is that I hadn’t been nervous at all during the audition (试镜). And the reason I hadn’t been nervous is that it hadn’t even occurred to me
that I could get the major role.
“Do you want to come over after school and we can practice our lines ” I asked.
“You mean practice your lines ” Avery said, not even looking at me. “No, thanks. I’m pretty busy this week.”
“OK,” I said. “How about some day next week ”
“Sorry,” she mumbled. “I’m pretty sure I’m busy forever.”
That night at dinner, after my parents congratulated me for getting the lead role, they asked how I felt about it.
“Well, I’m confused,” I said. “Avery was so upset that I was picked to be Alice, she pretty much threw away
our friendship.”
“Hmm,” said my mum. “Arizona, don’t you think this might be an opportunity for you to be an extra-good friend ” “Sometimes when our friends do well, we feel envious and don’t know how to act. Try giving her a little
time and understanding. I bet she’ll come around before too long.”
Over the following rehearsals (排练), Avery kept ignoring me on purpose.

Together, we have shared many great memories here, and he is a big part of our school’s history. However, his mother has become ill,and it is the right decision for his family. By my mid-20s, I’d finished my master in psychology, and I was working in Dublin as a health researcher. It was mostly data and statistics work staring at a screen.
A 25. B 26. D 27. C
根据第一段中的“I had a good pension (养老金) and annual leave but it caused a lot of anxiety and worry. I was really unhappy.(我有一个很好的养老金和年假, 但它引起了很多焦虑和担忧。我真的很不开心)” 可知,作者虽然工作待遇不错,但是感到焦虑和担心,觉得不开心。由此推知,作者觉得 Dublin 的工作压
力很大。故选 A 项。
根据第二段划线句子前的“I decided to volunteer with a local youth group and within a month, I’d gone camping with them. I absolutely loved it.(我决定在当地的一个青年团体做志愿者,不到一个月,我就和
他们一起去露营了。我非常喜欢它)”可知,作者很喜欢与年轻人户外活动,划线句子的下文“This was what
It was the perfect fit to combine my psychology background with my
passion for the outdoors. I began taking courses in wild therapy, forest bathing and ecopsychology.(将我的心理学

Her students were more likely to take turns speaking and her shyer students spoke up more often, rid of the anxiety that comes from addressing a large classroom.
D 29. C 30. C 31. D
根据第二段“Among the groups, virtual pairs came up with significantly fewer ideas, suggesting that something about face-to-face interaction generates more creative ideas. The findings could stiffen employers’ resolve to urge or require their employees to come back to the office.
We ran this experiment based on feedback from companies that it was harder to
innovate with remote workers,’ said lead researcher Melanie Brucks. ‘Unlike other forms of virtual communication,
like phone calls or e-mail, videoconferencing copies the in-person experience quite well, so I was surprised when
we found meaningful differences between in-person and video interaction for idea generation.
Like most educators, Brucks has primarily taught virtually in the past three
years, and she did notice some benefits of the approach as well. Her students were more likely to take turns
speaking and her shyer students spoke up more often, rid of the anxiety that comes from addressing a large
classroom.
Many people have participated into lots of virtual meetings these
years. Some research shows this adjustment might not impact workplace productivity to any great degree. A new
study, though, suggests otherwise. ,以及第二段“Among the
groups, virtual pairs came up with significantly fewer ideas, suggesting that something about face-to-face
interaction generates more creative ideas. The findings could stiffen employers’ resolve to urge or require their
employees to come back to the office.

B 33. C 34. C 35. A

Our subjective valence of emotion is almost all we can see. When emotions are only
about what is pleasant or unpleasant in subjective experience right now, the more important features of emotion
disappear.
由第四段中的“If you can slow down and expand; if you stop running or clinging (沉浸其中) and

由第二段中的“You can also learn a lot by appreciating their secret life. (通过欣赏情感的秘密生 活,你也可以学到很多东西)”和最后一段中的“Just allow the full emotion. You will never enter into their secret life until you stop running or clinging. (只需要充分的情感。你永远不会进入它们的秘密生活, 除非你停止奔跑 或沉浸其中)”可知, 文章主要介绍了情感的秘密有哪些, 包括情绪情感的核心, 以及如何更好控制它们, 成

【答案】36 .F 37 .C 38 .E 39 .B 40 .A
36.根据“Searching for a file on your computer is a whole lot easier than digging through a pile of papers, yet it’s far from being a perfect system. Lately, it’s been hit-or-miss for me.
The neighborhood
故填 has changed。
故填 a。
故填 to。
故填 who/that。

【答案】Over the following rehearsals(排练),Avery kept ignoring me on purpose. Mum’s words echoing in my mind, I supposed maybe we both needed some space. Then at rehearsal one day, I approached her and smiled, “You’re such a talented actor, and the way you say your lines is awesome.” “Thanks,” said Avery, “I figured out all the ways to perform it well.” A wave of pride flashed across her face. “Well,” I said, “I’m still struggling with a
few things about my character. I’d love your help if you have any free time this week.”
She smiled. “I think Imight be free on Thursday.” On hearing her words, I felt more than happy and smiled back. Avery came to practise with me as she promised. As expected, our play turned out marvellous, and the audience burst into cheers, pride filling in all of us. Although the friendship path between Avery and me was once a
little rough, we eventually enjoyed the sweetness from each other. Mum was right, “Give your teammate a little
time and understanding, and he or she just might come around before too long.”
