To the NBA, the 2. 23-meter center offers an opening of a different sort into the world’s largest new market. Yao’s NBA first appearance against the Indiana Pacers in October reached 287 million families in the US. That game might have been a bit of a letdown to Yao’s fans: He played just 11 of the 48 minutes, had two rebounds (篮板) and got no paring that with his performance on December 19, also against Indiana, Yao won 29 points and 10 rebounds. “This was one of the most exciting games I’ve had,” Yao said after Houston’s 95-83 victory. The NBA has to be excited about his on-count success. In all his games, he’s averaging 12. 7 points and 7. 7 rebounds, quite good for a new star. “Yao Ming has brought the NBA closer to the Chinese,” said NBA spokeswoman Cheong Sau Ching, “That makes the dream seem practical for other people in China and proud to be Chinese. ”The 22-year-old Yao is not the country’s first player in the NBA: Wang Zhizhi broke down the Dallas Mavericks in November 2003. They do poorly even if they know the material. Sian Beilock, a professor at the University of Chicago in Illinois, has studied these highly anxious test-takers. The students start worrying about the results. And when they worry, it actually uses up attention and memory resources (资源) .Professor Beilock and another researcher, Gerardo Ramirez, have developed a possible solution. Just before an exam, highly anxious test-takers spend ten minutes writing about their worries about the test. The researchers tested the idea on a group of twenty anxious college students. They gave them two short maths tests. After the first one, they asked the students to either sit quietly or write about their feelings about the upcoming second test.Professor Beilock says those who sat quietly scored an average of 12% worse on the second test. But the students who had written about their fears improved their performance by an average of 5%. Next, the researchers used younger students in a biology class. They told them before final exams either to write about their feelings or to think about things unrelated to the test. Professor Beilock says highly anxious students who did the writing got an average grade of B+, compared to a B-for those who did not."What we showed is that for students who are highly test-anxious, who'd done our writing intervention (干预), all of a sudden there was no relationship between test anxiety and performance. They were performing just as well as their classmates who don't normally get nervous in these tests."But what if students do not have a chance to write about their fears immediately before an exam Professor Beilock says students can try it themselves at home or in the library and still improve their performance. What may the students start worrying about before an exam What other students do during the test.Whether they can pass the exams.Whether they have remembered the materials. What kind of problems they will meet on the test paper. What is the solution developed by researchers A. Asking the students to ignore the test.Asking the students to focus on the test.Asking the students to sit quietly before the test.Asking the students to write about their worries before the test.30.According to Professor Beilock, those who thought about things unrelated to the test. A. became less nervous before the testwere better at controlling their feelingsdid better than those who wrote about their feelingsdid worse than those who wrote about their feelings31. What can be learned from the last paragraph Writing about our worries before an exam can work a bit.We can only write about our worries right before an exam.It doesn't matter where we write about our worries before an exam. The best place to write about our worries is in the test room.第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项 为多余选项。Going from middle school to freshman year of high school is a big challenge.____16____Be open to new friendships.High school is all about experiencing new things, including new friendships. Living on the same block, we’ve known each other since we were babies, and I’ve seen him act worried maybe five times total. I, on the other hand, am pretty much the exact opposite.I could find something to worry about every day.At my karate(空手道) school, there’s a group of kids that gives karate lessons to younger kids, and I recently tried out to be one of the teachers.Surprisingly, I wasn’t that nervous for the tryouts(选拔). But when I didn’t get the call saying if I was in or out, I started feeling more and more nervous. Before long, my nervousness turned into worrying, and when it came to thinking about anything else or getting anything done, I was useless! So after lunch yesterday, when my little brother Tex asked me to play basketball with him, I could only say, “I can’t. I’m busy!” “Busy with what ” my little sister, Indi, asked. “Busy waiting for the phone to ring!” I grumbled.“You’re reminding me of that old saying,” said our mom. “A watched pot never boils!” “The more you focus on the thing you’re waiting for, the longer it seems to take,” she explained when seeing my brother’s puzzling eyes.Just then, the phone rang, and I raced to grab it. “Hello ” “Hey,” said Ollie. “Oh, it’s just you,”I said. “Wow, you sure know how to make a friend feel special!” said Ollie. “I’m sorry. It’s just that I’ve been waiting for a call telling me if I made it into this karate group, and it’s stressing me out.” “I get it,” said Ollie. “I remember being so stressed waiting to find out if I’d made it onto the select soccer team last year. The best cure was distracting(使分心) myself.”I was surprised. “It thought you never worried.” “I’m pretty sure that’s part of being human,” said Ollie. “And I’m also pretty sure I have just the thing to distract you. Want me to bring it over ” he asked.注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;2. 请在答题卡的相应位置作答。“Hmm,” I said suspiciously. “What exactly is this thing ”_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________By the end of the day, we were all worn out and Daisy the dog even fell sound asleep, when suddenly my mom called from the kitchen, “Zona!
