阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Eva spent the first week of high school trying to keep her head above water. One of the major headaches for her was finding her way in the huge school building. It was a six-story building. On each floor, hallways stretched in four directions, leading to classrooms, laboratories, and teachers’ offices. Somewhere in the building, there was also a library, a cafeteria, and a gym.
Having a poor sense of direction, Eva found it impossible to get around in such a huge building. All the different hallways and rooms were too much to think about, let alone commit to memory. She decided that she would memorize where her classes were and then pretend that the rest of the place didn't exist.
In her first P.E. class, Eva was shocked when Coach Pitt announced that everyone had to run one mile around the track outside. She searched the faces of her classmates for signs of panic. There was nothing she feared more than having to run a whole mile. To Eva, “a mile” was used to describe long distances. It was ten miles from her home to her grandfather’s, and that always seemed like a long way, even in a car!
When Coach Pitt blew his whistle (睛子). Eva figured she would be left in the dust. However, while some of her classmates edged ahead, others actually fell behind. “It’s just the beginning.” she thought. “I’ll come in last for sure.”
Soon Eva began to breathe hard, with her heart pounding and legs shaking. Feeling desperate, Eva started using a mind trick on herself. She stopped thinking about the word “mile.” Instead, she focused on reaching the shadow cast on the track by an oak tree up ahead. Then she concentrated on jogging to the spot where the track curved (拐弯). After that, she tried to see if she could complete her first lap. One lap turned into two, then three, then four.
Paragraph 1:
When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:
Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building._______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Paragraph 1:
When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. She never thought that a mile would go by so fast and that she would accomplish running one mile. “Huh,” she thought, “I guess this trick really worked! If I make little goals and just focus on what is right in front of me, finishing these incremental goals can add up to overcoming one big challenge.”
Paragraph 2:
Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. She decided to focus on familiarizing herself with the school building one floor at a time, starting from the first floor. She broke each floor down to 4 quadrants and set out to explore each quadrant and all its rooms and hallways. In less than two weeks, Eva knows the building like the back of her hand. Now, she navigates around her school building confidently, armed not just with the knowledge to navigate the school building but also a new little trick to overcome any challenge that may come her way.
Paragraph 1:
When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. Such an encouraging acknowledgement extinguished and replaced her initial anticipation of criticism. She not only felt accomplished by these two simple words but also realized that she had overcome a physically daunting task that she found impossible. This moment marked a turning point in her life where she learned the importance and technique of perseverance. Furthermore, this life-changing instance was also where she discovered that she no longer needed to wish away all her troubles in life as long as she could exercise the technique of mind over matter.
Paragraph 2:
Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. Rather than brainwashing herself with self-defeating comments, she focused on positive feedback from her every attempt at trying out a new path. Instead of succumbing to negative thoughts, she paid attention to different memorable features within the campus grounds so she could form a visual mental map. Similar to the old saying that practice makes perfect, she told herself that practice makes proficient!
Paragraph 1:
When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. She did not expect herself to be able to run for a full mile, not to mention that she did not finish in the last place, as many of her classmates were still behind her. She felt very accomplished and began to reflect what helped her to finish this run. “It is the mind trick! This mind trick really works!” she thought to herself “Perhaps I should apply this mind trick to other challenges, and maybe I can conquer them as well.”
Paragraph 2:
Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. She stopped thinking about how big the school is and her poor sense of direction, and instead, she kept on reminding herself to not feel stupid even when she got lost and reward herself for every new location and route she became familiar with. Sooner than she expected, she knew the routes to all the rooms and facilities in the building, and the fear that she might get lost in the building never appeared again.
