Getting to Know the Plants Around Us
Last weekend, I participated in a “Getting to Know the Plants Around Us” activity organised by our Students’ Union.
The activity began with a lecture by a local botanist, who taught us about the different characteristics and uses of various plant species. We then went on a natural walk to observe and collect samples of different plants. The Historical Figure in China

The Scientist I Admire Most
Of all the scientists, I admire Qian Xuesen most.
When Qian was young, he realized China needed its own powerful air force to defend the country, so he made the decision to major in aviation. He went to America in 1935 to pursue his graduate studies and returned to China in 1955. Under Qian’s leadership, China developed the Dongfeng missiles, followed by the first generation of
Long March rockets.
Qian devoted himself to the country and helped make China stronger. He is an example to me and his spirit will inspire me to keep moving forward.

Learning English Beyond the Classroom
There are many things we can do to learn English well. Recently, we conducted a survey concerning different ways to learn English beyond the classroom. The results are as follows.
There are roughly 65% of the students preferring to listen to English songs while 50% of the students choose to watch English movies. But the percentage of students reading English books is only 18%, followed by 12% who study English via English learning websites.
The results suggest that most students would rather study English in a more entertaining way. From my point of view, we should also take English books and websites into consideration, thus laying a solid foundation for English.

According to the survey conducted in our school, 43% of the students prefer to read science books, followed by comics readers, which accounts for 26%. 18% of the students enjoy reading sports and music books while 13% of the students like to read classical books.
It is encouraging to see so many students reading regularly, as reading can improve comprehension skills and cultivate imagination. However, we should also encourage students to read books outside
their comfort zone to broaden their horizons and explore new perspectives.
From my point of view, I suggest our school organize book clubs or reading groups, where students can discuss and share their thoughts. It can stimulate their curiosity and critical thinking and enhance their social skills.
