A Chinese artist named He Peiqi made the news for building a model of his hometown, using nothing but coins! He spent a month stacking（堆积） up ancient Chinese coins, modern Chinese coins and foreign coins from 11 different countries to create the model. The model has roads, bridges and tall buildings. Believe it or not, he didn't use any glue!
He Peiqi said that he collected tens of thousands of coins for his model. Once the coins were ready, he got to work on the floor of his apartment, working for two hours each day. He carefully stacked the coins to make the general layout（布局） of Chongqing City. It took him a month to finish the whole model, and he used more than 50, 000 coins in all.
He uses red and green stones to represent（代表） the city's two major rivers—the Yangtze River and the Jialing River. The model also has some famous bridges, such as the E'gongyan Bridge, bridges over the Yangtze River and 28 bridges over the Jialing River. He said, “I also have paid special attention to the East Water and Chaotian Gate as well as Nanbin Petronas Towers and Sheraton Hotel.”
This model is amazing, and it's rather fragile, because he did not glue any of the coins together. So when reporters visited his home to see the art work, he warned them, “Be careful not to touch it!” His fear is understandable-touching even a single coin would cause the fall of the whole art.
