五、语法
1.keep+复合宾语(名词或代词+形容词)表示“保持某人或某物的某种状态”。如:
Please keep your clothes clean.请保持衣服干净。
We should keep our bedroom clean.我们应该保持我们的卧室干净。
2.make+复合宾语(名词或代词+形容词)表示“使……变得……”。如:
What makes our city dirty 什么使我们的城市变脏了
Rubbish makes the streets messy and dirty.垃圾使街道变得又脏又乱。
3.can 用于提出建议，意思是“可以”。如:
What can we do to keep our city clean 我们怎样做可以保持城市洁净。
We can take the bus and the metro to school.我们可以乘公交和地铁上学。
We can plant more trees to keep the air clean.我们可以种更多的树，让空气保持清洁。
4. move ... away 的意思是“搬走”、“移走”。如:
We can move some factories away from our city.我们可以把一些工厂从城市搬走。
5. help keep the air clean有助于保持空气洁净
keep the air clean是动词不定式，作help的宾语，接在help后的动词不定式通常省略to，尤其在非正式用语和口语中。如:
Can you help (to) open the window 你能帮忙打开窗子吗
Let me help (to) sweep the floor.让我来帮忙扫地吧。
6.pick up 的用法
pick ... up 是个由动词加副词构成的动词短语，需要注意以下几点:
(1)如果宾语是名词，可以将宾语放在副词前面，也可以将宾语放在副词后面。如:
Pick up the banana skin. = Pick the banana skin up.把香蕉皮捡起来。
Put on the coat. = Put the coat on.把外衣穿上。
(2)如果宾语是代词，代词一定放在中间，如:
Pick it up.把它捡起来。Put it on.穿上它。
7.of的用法
(1)有生命的东西的名词所有格一般用’s的形式，如:
Li Lei's book = book of Li Lei李雷的书
(2)无生命的物体的名词所有格一般用of短语的形式，如:
the pictures of our city我们城市的照片
8.smoke 表示的双重含义
(1)动词:吸烟。如:
He often smokes after dinner.他经常晚饭后抽烟。
(2)名词(不可数):烟雾。如:
Smoke from cars makes the air dirty.汽车排出的尾气使空气变脏。
