根据第一段内容“The traditional Chinese Shaoxing opera has a long history, but these days it seems that young people don’t show much interest in it.”(中国传统的越剧有着悠久的历史,但现在年轻人似乎对它没有太大兴趣。) 故选A项。
根据第二段关键句“Nowadays, as pop music and online films are popular with the public, Shaoxing opera is struggling for its survival. The market of the opera is becoming smaller.”(如今,随着流行音乐和网络电影的流行,越剧正在为生存而挣扎。
根据画线单词上文“Actually, not only Shaoxing opera but also many other traditional Chinese operas are in danger. That’s really worrying.”(事实上,不仅越剧,还有许多其他中国传统戏剧都处于危险之中。这真令人担忧。)可知,包括越剧在内的许多中国传统戏剧都处于危险之中,这一点令人担忧,由此可知,画线单词所在句指的是“人们正在尽力保护中国传统戏剧”,“them”代指的是“Chinese operas”,即中国戏剧。故选B项。

When Alex Petrie went to stay with his father, he noticed that the 75-year-old walked around several times during the night. This was worrying: his father lived alone and had recently been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia
“I was feeling quite nervous about it and wondered if he was doing it every night,” says Petrie. “It's not nice to think that he's worried or can't sleep properly.”
But Petrie had recently installed (安装) a smart home system, Howz, in his father's flat. It uses sensors to track movements, feeding the data into an app that family members and close friends can access. Once the Howz system has analyzed and established someone's habitual way of doing things, it will send alerts (警报) to the app if there are any changes. For example, if a sensor usually senses movement before 8 am each day — signaling the time the person normally gets up — an alert will be sent if there has been no movement by that time. Relatives can then call in to make sure everything is okay.
Using the app, Petrie could see that his father usually got a good night's sleep and very rarely walked about during the night. With this knowledge, he was able to provide the right kind of support and care when his father did have a sleepless night.
Howz, which was developed by Intelesant, a Manchester-based health tech company, aims to help people live independently in their own homes and provide peace of mind for their relatives.
Petrie set up two sensors in his father's flat: one on the front door and another in the hall. “The door sensor is important as I can see whether his careers have visited. It doesn't tell me who has visited but it's easy to find out by the time of the day. The sensor in the hall covers the most commonly used area of the flat. It gives us a near-continuous view of whether he's up and about. It's a little safety net,” says Petrie.
4. What was the problem with Petrie's father
A. He insisted on living alone.
B. He didn't like the care home.
C. He always went out for a walk at night.
D. He sometimes couldn't fall asleep at night.
5. What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A. How Howz works.
B. How Howz is tested.
C. Who invented Howz.
D. Why Howz was created.
6. What does Petrie think of Howz
A. It isn't privacy-friendly.
B. It isn't safe enough.
C. It is quite helpful.
D. It is big business.
7. What does the author want to tell us in the text
A. Tech shortens the distance between people.
B. Tech is benefiting people's daily life.
C. Tech affects the way people work.
D. Tech is slowing down aging.
根据第一段的“We always ride together; sometimes he leads; sometimes I do. And as we ride, we communicate the ways to reduce the dangers: Don’t go too fast, and watch out for doors suddenly swinging out from parked cars and jaywalking pedestrians, etc. I’m not sure there is a better way to let my son know how to deal with traffic dangers.(我们总是一起骑车;有时他骑前面;有时候我骑前面。当我们骑车的时候,我们会交流减少危险的方法:不要骑得太快,当心停着的车突然打开的门和乱穿马路的行人等等。一些朋友担心在交通中骑车的风险,但是有没有更好的方法让我的儿子知道如何处理交通危险)”可知,作者陪儿子上学是为了教他在交通情况复杂的情况如何骑自行车,以规避交通危险的发生。故选B。
5.词义猜测题。根据划线部分所在句子“This is healthy, of course, as my son needs space to develop independence in preparation for his inevitable departure from home. However, that means soon he will want to ride to school on his own, and I will no longer have this wonderful routine.(当然,这是健康的,因为我的儿子需要空间来培养独立性,为他 inevitable 离家做准备。然而,这意味着他很快就会想自己骑车上学,而我将不再有这种美妙的日常生活)”可知,作者的儿子需要空间来发展独立,并且马上就要自己骑自行车上学。由此可知,他的离家是不可避免的,即划线词为“不可避免的”与unavoidable同义。故选A。
根据倒数第二段的“My wife has just left on a six-month work in Libyan, where there is a war ongoing. In the days of her leaving, we spoke openly about the possibility, however unlikely, that she might be killed.(我妻子刚刚离开,在利比亚工作了六个月,那里正在进行一场战争。在她离开的日子里,我们公开谈论了她可能被杀的可能性,尽管可能性不大)”可知,作者对妻子的离开担心是因为他担心她在国外会有遇害的危险。故选C。
7.主旨大意题。根据本文的主要内容,和最后一段“As we travel through life’s stages, we must let goof so much. And I don’t think it gets easier with practice. But maybe just accepting that eventually we will have to let go is the secret to living a full life.(当我们走过人生的阶段时,我们必须放手。但是,也许只是接受最终我们将不得不放手,是一个完整的生活的秘密)”可知,文章通过讲述儿子骑自行车上学,进而独立的事情,和妻子出差作者的担心告诉我们:生活中我们不要太纠结于某些事情,当我们走到人生的某个阶段,我们必须适度放手故选。因此A项“放手在生活中是必要的”可以作为本文最佳标题。故选A。

Now a lot of people are paying much money to get their children the music teaching. As we know to learn an instrument such as the violin or accordion takes years. The job opportunities for musicians are scarce and competition is fierce. Then why are more people than ever before paying a lot of good cash to get their children the best music teaching they can afford
The secret lies in the influence of music on the whole person. It has been found that learning a musical instrument actually increases a person’s IQ over time. The Suzuki Piano Method teaches children from the age of 3 years piano, with two lessons per week. From preschool, children can learn to read music and play from sheet music. Progress in learning your instrument is directly proportional to the amount of practicing.
Is there such a thing as an unmusical child Shinichi Suzuki proposes that music is the native home language of all human beings and therefore nobody can be “unmusical”. Of course there are exceptional talents, compared to which others may seem to be slower learners.
Is there any benefit for adults in starting an instrument Apart from the purely relaxing aspect, yes. Learning an instrument can earn even adults additional IQ points, and as added benefit in improves your health by reducing your stress levels. Your social life may benefit too, if you are prepared to come out of your box and join occasions such as Childish (musical get-togethers) or arrange house concerts. It has been established that people who play instruments tend to be more emotionally balanced and more patient with themselves, others and life in general.

As I wash dishes at the kitchen sink, my husband, Scott, paces behind me, annoyed. “Have you seen my keys ” he asks. In the past I would have turned off the tap and joined the hunt while trying to comfort my husband. But that only made him angrier. Now, I focus on the wet dish in my hands. I don’t turn around. I don’t say a word. I’m using a technique I learned from a dolphin trainer.
For a book I was writing about animal trainers’ school, I started spending my days watching professional trainers do the seemingly impossible: teaching dogs to dance on command and chimps to skateboard. Eventually it hit me that the same techniques might work on that stubborn but lovable species, the American husband. The central lesson I learned is that I should reward behaviour I like and ignore behaviour I don’t. After all, you don’t get a sea lion to balance a ball on the end of its nose by talking. The same goes for the American husband.
I began thanking Scott if he threw one dirty shirt into the laundry basket. If he threw in two, I’d kiss him. I was using what trainers call “approximations”, rewarding the small steps toward learning a whole new behaviour. With Scott the husband, I began to praise every small act every time: if he drove just a mile an hour slower, or was on time for anything.
I followed the students to Sea World San Diego, where a dolphin trainer introduced me to Least Reinforcing Scenario (L. R. S.). When a dolphin does something wrong, the trainer doesn’t respond in any way. The idea is that any response, positive or negative, fuels a behaviour. If a behaviour causes no response, it typically dies away. It was only a matter of time before he was again searching for his keys, at which point I said nothing and kept at what I was doing. It took a lot of discipline to maintain my calm, but results were immediate. I felt as if I should throw him a small fish.
12.What can we infer about the writer
A.She treats her husband like animals. B.She often quarrels with her husband.
C.She behaves differently to her husband. D.She’s determined to learn from the dolphin.
13.How did the writer get the idea of treating her husband
A.By rewarding her husband. B.By writing a book on animals.
C.By focusing on washing the dishes. D.By watching professional training.
14.What will happen if the trainer doesn’t respond to the dolphin’s mistake
A.It will forget the mistake. B.It will feel embarrassed.
C.It will remember its mistake. D.It will repeat the wrong action.
15.What is the tone of the text
A.Serious. B.Humorous. C.Aggressive. D.Doubtful.

由第一段二三句“In the past I would have turned off the tap and joined the hunt while trying to comfort my husband. But that only made him angrier. Now, I focus on the wet dish in my hands. I don’t turn around.”(过去我会关掉水,一边安慰他一边寻找,但是那只会让他更生气。现在,我关注手头的盘子没有转身)可知,作者对待丈夫的方式发生了变化,故选C项。
13.细节理解题。第二段“I started spending my days watching professional trainers do the seemingly impossible: teaching dogs to dance on command and chimps to skateboard. Eventually it hit me that the same techniques might work on that stubborn but lovable species, the American husband.”(我开始花时间观看职业的训练员做一些看起来不可能的事情:教狗按照要求跳舞,黑猩猩滑滑板。
根据最后一段第三句 “If a behaviour causes no response, it typically dies away.”(如果一个行为没有任何回应,那么这种行为通常就会消失)可知,这种行为会被遗忘从而消失。故选A项。
纵观全文作者试图用训练员训练动物的方法来应对丈夫的日常行为,比如“With Scott the husband, I began to praise every small act every time: if he drove just a mile an hour slower, or was on time for anything.”(对于Scott这个丈夫,我开始每一次表扬他的每一个行为,如果他只是一小时慢了几英里或者是按时做了任何事情)可知,作者的语气是夸张的、幽默的,故选B项。
