Instead of his paintings, the notebooks on which the Spanish legendary artist drew drafts are shown to the public for the first time.Matchbox covers, postcards, restaurant napkins all served as drafting notes for the artist at moments of inspiration. It is important to know that each of the 14 notebooks presented reflects what was going on in his life. For example, a tiny notebook whose size is just 3 by 5 inches stands out among the exhibits. Inside the little book was a self-portrait of the artist finished roughly in pencil, with deep and thoughtful eyes. It was done in 1918 and Picasso, then in his mid-30s, had just got married. He produced big-sized artworks but he also kept this tiny notebook around, filling it with scenes of his wife, their friends, the beach and the town, and drafts of upcoming paintings. Actually, many of the draft drawings are early versions of famed paintings like Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907) and Dora Maar in an Armchair (1939).”He is a great artist of the modern period, and we see practice and determination in his notebooks, said Lynn Miller, referring to Picasso’s efforts in improving his skills through copious drawing. Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, a grandson of Picasso’s, remembered him always drafting until the last piece of paper available. “My grandpa was permanently drawing something, Ruiz-Picasso said.In a documentary film shown at the gallery, Picasso, shirtless and in shorts, was standing on a ladder to reach the top of his canvas (画布). It reminds visitors of the real size of his masterworks.24.What are the key features of the recent exhibit at the gallery A.Notebooks for sale. B.Picasso’s artworks.C.Priceless artistic drafts. This is called “zoo pharmacognosy” or, more commonly, animal self-medication.Scientists have discovered that tamarin monkeys use a specific tree resin (树脂) as medicine. In the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, scientists followed several groups of them to collect data. During one of these daily studies, tamarin monkeys were observed rubbing their bodies on the trunk of a tree. At first, researchers thought that they were marking their territory, a common behaviour in this species. Botanical experts later confirmed that the tree was a species of cabreuva, which is well known for its medical properties.Researchers decided to place camera-traps in different sites at the foot of the tree to record future visits by tamarin monkeys. The records surprisingly showed that many animals living in the forest visited it. Totally, ten species were observed. For many of them, it was the first time that behaviors similar to self-medication had been observed. More surprisingly, one species spread resin on each other’s fur in pairs. In general, the species seemed to specifically visit the tree to acquire the resin and seemingly benefit from it, either healing their wounds or fighting back parasites (寄生虫).While further studies are needed to identify the properties of the resin and thus confirm that this is indeed self-medication, the use of it suggests that cabreuva represents a common and universal drugstore for the residents of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. It is likely to be a valuable resource helping the species maintain their magnitude by improving their health. This discovery could have an important protection influence, as the disappearance of some trees could potentially affect the survival of some animals.28.Why do tamarin monkeys rub themselves against the tree A.They are trying to cure diseases. B.They would like to digest what they eat.C.They feel like occupying the land. D.They are attracting companions’ attention.29.What do researchers find through camera-traps A.Many animals copy monkeys’ behaviors. B.Animals can help each other clean the fur.C.The cabreduva is the habitat of tamarin monkeys. D.Resin can be used as medicine for some animals30.What does the underlined word “magnitude” in paragraph 4 probably mean A.Populations. B.Characteristics. C.Similarities. D.Flexibilities.31.What is the possible significance of the discovery A.Promoting evolution of creatures. B.Increasing the production of resin.C.Contributing to forest conservation. D.Motivating the study of monkeys’ diet.DIn the 1970s, a psychologist named J.P.Guilford dared to conduct a famous study of creativity—the nine-dot puzzle. He challenged research subjects to connect all nine dots using just four straight lines without lifting their pencils from the page. All the participants in his study limited the possible solutions to those within the imaginary square. Only 20 percent managed to break out of the illusory confinement (束缚) and continue their lines in the white space surrounding the dots. The fact that 80 percent of the participants were effectively blinded by the boundaries of the square led Guilford to jump to the sweeping conclusion that creativity requires you to go outside the box.The nine-dot puzzle and the phrase “thinking outside the box” became metaphors for creativity. Speakers, trainers, training program developers, organizational consultants, and university professors all had much to say about the vast benefits of outside-the-box thinking. Management consultants even used this puzzle when making sales talk to prospective clients. Because the solution is deceptively simple, clients tended to admit they should have thought of it themselves. Because they hadn’t, they were obviously not as creative or smart as they had previously thought and needed to call in creative experts. The smash hit carried the world before one until two different research teams-Clarke Burnham with Kenneth Davis, and Joscph Alba with Robert Weinberg—ran another experiment, using the same puzzle but a different research procedure and bothered to check the facts. Both teams followed the same way of dividing participants into two groups. The first group was given the same instructions as the participants in Guilford’s experiment. The second group was told that the solution required the lines to be drawn outside the imaginary box bordering the dots. Most people assume that 60 percent to 90 percent of the group given the clue would solve the puzzle easily. However only 25 percent did. In statistical terms, this 5 percent improvement over the subjects of Guilford’s original study is insignificant.Solving this problem requires people to literally think outside the box. Yet participants’ performance was not improved even when they were given specific instructions to do so. That this advice is useless should effectively have killed off the much widely circulated—and therefore, much more dangerous—metaphor that out-of-the-box thinking stimulates receptivity. After all, with one simple experiment, researchers had proven that the conceptual link between thinking outside the box and creativity was a myth.32.What did the nine-dot puzzle study focus on A.Visual perceptionB.Practical experienceC.Thinking patternsD.Theoretical knowledge.33.What can be inferred from paragraph 3 A.The clients were less creative than they had been.B.The nine-dot puzzle was beneficial in solving various problems.C.Outside-the-box thinking enjoyed strong popularity and appeal.D.Management consultants considered themselves creative experts.34.Which of the following best describes the follow-up experiment A.RevealingB.Mysterious.C.Misleading.D.Groundless.35.Which is the best title for the passage A.Nine-Dot Puzzle:A Magic TestB.Solving Puzzle:A Key To CreativityC.Creative Thinking:We Fell For The TrapD.Thinking Outside the Box:A Misguided Idea第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Benefits of Personality TestsCan identifying one’s personality type using the MBTI and other personality assessments really help They may. 36Better understand othersAfter taking a personality test and seeing our results, we can gain a better understanding of all the different perceptions and reactions that others might have to the same situation. 37 . Every month we would have a basketball match against another school’s basketball team. In spite of all the cheers we received from our classmates and the amount of training we had, we had never won a single match before. That was due to our lack of teamwork and cooperation.During one of our training sessions, our school team was divided into two to have a match against each other. The inter-school competition was coming up and none of us wanted to miss our chance of getting that gold trophy(奖品). “Three, two, one, start!” our basketball coach, Coach Leong, shouted. John, who was in my team, managed to grab the ball that Coach Leong threw in the air. In the most basic sense, a dumpling consists of the skin and fillings. As is known, China is the dumpling capital of the world. Jiaozi is a Chinese dumpling. It typically consists of a ground meat and vegetable filling wrapped into a thinly rolled piece of dough. It may be divided into various types depending on how they are cooked..Miyazawa, a Japanese cook, says,“Japanese dumplings came from China at the beginning, but Chinese dumplings are mostly boiled. However, gyoza, a pan-fried meat dumpling, is more common in Japan. It is in a half-moon shape. Its bottom is crispy while the top is softer, thanks to how it is steamed after being pan-fried.”In my hometown, local people tend to call ravioli the Italian dumpling on account of its similar shape. However, they are actually a kind of pasta. Although they are food in the form of "dumplings", there are big differences in their fillings, cooking methods and sauces that will go with them. For instance, ravioli are in square shape and the fillings can be cheese besides meat and vegetables. ABecome a Reading Volunteer and Change a Child’s StoryHelp a child learn to read so that they can succeed, in school and beyond. An hour a week for youYou’ll spend one hour a week reading stories with a child aged between 5 and 10 years old, on our secure online platform. D.Motivating the study of monkeys’ diet.【答案】28.A 29.D 30.A 31.C【解析】这是一篇说明文。 根据第二段“During one of these daily studies, tamarin monkeys were observed rubbing their bodies on the trunk of a tree. At first, researchers thought that they were marking their territory, a common behaviour in this species. Botanical experts later confirmed that the tree was a species of cabreuva, which is well known for its medical properties.(在其中一项日常研究中,研究人员观察到绢毛猴在树干上摩擦身体。起初,研究人员认为它们是在标记自己的领地,这是这种物种的常见行为。植物学专家后来证实,这棵树是一种以其药用特性而闻名的红檀香)”可知,绢毛猴要在树上摩擦自己是为了努力治疗疾病。故选A。29. 根据第三段“Researchers decided to place camera-traps in different sites at the foot of the tree to record future visits by tamarin monkeys. The records surprisingly showed that many animals living in the forest visited it. Totally, ten species were observed. For many of them, it was the first time that behaviors similar to self-medication had been observed. More surprisingly, one species spread resin on each other’s fur in pairs. After all, with one simple experiment, researchers had proven that the conceptual link between thinking outside the box and creativity was a myth.32.What did the nine-dot puzzle study focus on A.Visual perceptionB.Practical experienceC.Thinking patternsD.Theoretical knowledge.33.What can be inferred from paragraph 3 A.The clients were less creative than they had been.B.The nine-dot puzzle was beneficial in solving various problems.C.Outside-the-box thinking enjoyed strong popularity and appeal.D.Management consultants considered themselves creative experts.34.Which of the following best describes the follow-up experiment A.RevealingB.Mysterious.C.Misleading.D.Groundless.35.Which is the best title for the passage A.Nine-Dot Puzzle:A Magic TestB.Solving Puzzle:A Key To CreativityC.Creative Thinking:We Fell For The TrapD.Thinking Outside the Box:A Misguided Idea【答案】32.C 33.C 34.A 35.D【解析】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了一项关于创造力的研究实验。研究者发现大多数人在解决这个谜题时受到了边界的限制,只有少数人能够跳出思维定势,将线延伸到空白区域。这一结果导致人们普遍认为创造力需要跳出思维定势,但后来的实验表明这种观点并不准确。因此,作者认为“跳出思维定势”这一隐喻对于创造力的刺激作用是一个误区。32.细节理解题。根据第一段“He challenged research subjects to connect all nine dots using just four straight lines without lifting their pencils from the page.(他要求研究对象只用四条直线连接所有九个点,而不用把铅笔从纸上抬起来)”和第二段的“All the participants in his study limited the possible solutions to those within the imaginary square. Only 20 percent managed to break out of the illusory confinement (束缚) and continue their lines in the white space surrounding the dots. (在他的研究中,所有参与者都将可能的解决方案限制在虚方范围内。只有20%的人成功地打破了虚幻的束缚,并在圆点周围的空白中继续他们的线条)”可知,九点拼图的研究重点是思维模式,故选C项。33.推理判断题。根据第三段“The nine-dot puzzle and the phrase“thinking outside the box”became metaphors for creativity. Speakers, trainers, training program developers, organizational consultants, and university professors all had much to say about the vast benefits of outside-the-box thinking.(九点连线问题和“跳出思维定势”这个短语成为了创造力的象征。演讲者、培训师、培训项目开发者、组织顾问和大学教授都对跳出思维定势的好处发表了很多看法。)”可推理出,跳出思维定势具有很强的流行性和吸引力,故选C项。34.推理判断题。根据最后一段“That this advice is useless should effectively have killed off the much widely circulated—and therefore, much more dangerous—metaphor that out-of-the-box thinking stimulates receptivity. Since John grabbed the ball, he refused to let anyone, not even his teammates, take it.“Pass the ball to me, John!” I shouted. I was in a good position to shoot the ball into the hoop(篮筺). To my shock, John made a rude face at me. I made an attempt to grab the ball from him. When I got my hands on the ball, it became a tug-of-war(激烈竞争) between John and me. Once again, Coach Leong reminded us to work as a team. The referee blew the whistle and flung the basketball into the air. I knew I had to give my team a head start, so I leaped up in the air to grab the ball. "John, catch!" I yelled at the top of my voice. John was short but he could run at lightning speed, and I think the other team assumed he was the last person I would pass the ball to. Before the opposing team could reach John, he had already shot the ball into the basketball hoop. Our team cheered with joy, and I punched the air twice with my fist.John did a perfect overhead throw, and I caught the ball in mid-air. As the entire opposing team charged towards me, I kept my calm even though I was surrounded. I threw the ball over their heads. It flew through the air like a missile into the hands of Eric, who was standing right behind our opponents, next to the basketball hoop. Eric dunked the ball in. We won the match 5-0. Finally, we managed to work as a team and Coach Leong was very satisfied. Each of us received a trophy for our amazing efforts. As I recalled the match, I smiled as I looked at the trophy. I realized that the most important thing was not the trophy but the value of teamwork that I had learnt from that match.【解析】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了作者通过自己所在篮球队赢得比赛的经历告诉我们团队合作的重要性。1. 词汇激活行为类①抓住:grab/catch/get②认为:assume/think/suppose③成功做某事:manage to do/succeed in doing情绪类①高兴:joy/delight/happiness②满意的:satisfied/happy/content【点睛】【高分句型1】I knew I had to give my team a head start, so I leaped up in the air to grab the ball.(运用了省略引导词that的宾语从句和so引导的状语从句)【高分句型2】John was short but he could run at lightning speed, and I think the other team assumed he was the last person I would pass the ball to.(运用了省略引导词that的宾语从句和省略关系代词的定语从句) 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源列表 2024年高考英语二轮复习测试(新高考九省专用卷)1.mp3 2024年高考英语二轮复习测试(新高考九省专用卷)(一)(全析全解).docx 2024年高考英语二轮复习测试(新高考九省专用卷)(一)(答题卡).docx 2024年高考英语二轮复习测试(新高考九省专用卷)(一)(考试版).docx
