The living environment of pandas was discussed around four different topics. Enable students to understand the causes of endangered animals and what attitude we should adopt towards them, as well as what we can do. While organizing the content of the text, let students experience the writing style and characteristics of expository texts, and master writing methods.

讲授新课 Teaching the new lesson 阅读训练(Reading) Before reading Get students to read the words and phrases in the box and try to get the meanings. Read again, divide them into four groups:appearance; food;living place and situation. Check the answers together and lead students to say some sentences by using these given words. Fast reading Get students to scan the whole passage quickly and try to find the type of the passage. Explain the type and help students to circle some numbers. To show four statements for students to read and catch the meanings. Play the tapes for students to read and match the main idea with the paragraphs. Check the answer together and help students to underline central sentence in each paragraph. Detail reading Get students to read the first paragraph carefully and try to fill in the form which on the blackboard. Explain this paragraph clearly and help students to underline the relative sentences and fill in the blanks. Simply introduce Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Base. To give several questions on the blackboard,students read the second paragraph and try to find the answers. Explain this paragraph in detail and check the answers together. To show some questions about the third paragraph and get students read it quickly to find the answers. Check the answers together and lead students to think about why the writer mentions these number. Underline the relative sentences and explain the panda’s situation. Lead students to finish the mind map about The reasons for fewer pandas. Explain the last paragraph by translating it sentence by sentence than lead students to list the ways we can do in three part. Check the answers together. To show the pictures and video and get students to know what our government have done to save pandas. Post reading Get students to read the whole passage again and try to finish the exercise in 2d.
