导入新课 Leading in Greeting each other. To show some pictures about unexpected events and help students to say the words. Check the answers together and read them for remember. Encourage students to share their experiences about unexpected events. Greeting Free talk and learn some expressions. Sharing story. To introduce the topic and collect some expressions.
讲授新课 Teaching the new lesson 阅读训练(Reading) Ask students to skim the whole passage and try to list the two unexpected events. Check the answers together and underline the relative sentences. To show the short video of the man-made disaster--The September 11 attack in New York. Get students to read the first paragraph and try to find the information:when, where, what, how. Check the answers one by one and try to find the author’s feeling. Read again after the tapes and explain the paragraph in detail. To show the short video of the the natural disaster --The earthquake in New Zealand. Get students to read the first paragraph and try to find the information:when, where, what, how. Check the answers one by one and try to find the author’s feeling. Read again after the tapes and explain the paragraph in detail. Ask students to answer the two questions in 2a and introduce the words “survival(幸存者)”. Ask students to find the words in 2b in the passage. Ask students to translate these words into Chinese and write down their opposite words on the lines. Check the answers together ad read them. Get students to make sentences by using these opposite words. Ask several students to write down their sentences on the blackboard. Group work(团队活动) Get students to read the phrases in 3c and try to translate into Chinese. Get students to make a short passage about one event we have read in groups.
