Story 3 A huge snake wo British sailors, John Ridgway and Chay Blyth. One evening in 1966. When they were rowing across the Atlantic Ocean. Huge.

Language Focus
1. Pang said he was about two metres tall with long arms.
庞(先生)说他大约两米高,胳膊长长的。
two metres tall 两米高
tall, old, deep, high, long, thick, wide 与“数词+名词”连用时,放在后面。
My sister is eight years old.
我妹妹八岁。
The river is 10 metres deep and 20 metres wide.
这条河深10米,宽20米。
2. It came toward the boat, dived under it and came up on the other side after some time.
它(巨蛇)朝着船游过来,潜入船底。过了些时候,又从船的另一边钻出来。
(1) toward用作介词,表示“朝……方向”。
He walked toward the door.他朝着门走过去。
注意:toward只表示朝着目的地移动,而to则含有到达的意思。
We drove toward Tianjin. 我们朝着天津的方向开。
We drove to Tianjin. 我们开车去了天津。
(2) some time 一段时间
注意:sometimes, sometime 以及some time 的区别。
sometimes 有时;
sometime 某个时候;
some time 一段时间。
I sometimes go to school by bus. 我有时乘公共汽车上学。
I saw him sometime last year.
我是去年的某个时候见到他的。
She lived in Paris for some time. 她在巴黎住过一段时间。
