一、导入新课
THE SILK ROAD
2000 years ago, an ancient trade route slowly spread across a continent. As a historian, the Silk Road has always fascinated him. The Silk Road ran all the way from China's ancient capital (Xi'an), through Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. He will follow the way through the desert and oases.（绿洲）
Ideas and inventions will arrive in Europe and change everything. This is the power of the Silk Road.It could travel in almost any direction.Dunhuang is famous for its great artwork. Mogao Caves have been included in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites（联合国科教文组织世界遗产名录） since 1987. It's a major place of interest in north-west China.
Yangguan was China's west edge. It became a place that inspired a poetry about loss. Here is a poem from Wang Wei.
The morning rain of Weicheng dampers the dust.
The guesthouse is green, like fresh willows.
Let's finish one more cup of wine, dear sir.
West of Yang Guan, you'll meet no more old friends.

Gansu famous “Three Passes”
Jiayuguan：It's on the edge of the desert, and was an important place on the Silk Road. It was a busy city with a lot of people coming and going. Even today, it's a city that many business people travel through. An important part of the Great Wall was also built here.
Yumenguan：I first found out about Yumenguan in the famous poem written by Wang Zhihuan. It was in the Gobi Desert and was the only connection between Central Asia and China. I wonders how people ever made it through the hot desert so long ago.
Yangguan：It's China's west edge.Wang Wei 《 Send Yuan Er to Anxi》

Why was the Silk Road important
The Silk Road was important because it helped to encourage trade and business exchange between the West and China. Ideas, culture, inventions, and unique products were shared across much of the world. In other words, the Silk Road bridged the world together.
