Cultural awareness(文化意识): This lesson helps students sort out common conflicts in daily life through listening and speaking exercises and simple reading tasks, and provides feasible suggestions by using sentence structures of some modal verbs. At the same time, educating students to timely recognize the problems and possible consequences of things, and to actively admit their mistakes and maintain interpersonal relationships.

讲授新课 Teaching the new lesson 听力训练(Listening) Get students to read the statements on the textbook and try to get the meanings. Play the tapes for the first time for students to get the main idea. Play the tapes for the second time,students listen and try to fill in the blanks. Check the answers together. Get students to read the sentences again and try to explain the different between “could” and “should” according to the sentences. To show the distinguish with the two words. Get students to read the reasons on the table and try to get the meanings. Lead students to match them. Listen again and check the answers together. Read after the tapes and explain the listening material in detail. Check the answers. Read after the tapes to correct pronunciation. 对话练习(Pair work) Lead students to discuss in groups and try to list the ways which can help Peter. Get students to read the function sentences in the table and try to remember. Get students to make conversations with their partners by using the ways they have listed. Ask several groups to show their works in front of the class. 角色扮演(Role play) Free talk about with students about their trouble with brothers or sisters in daily life. To show some questions on the blackboard.Students read an catch the meanings. Play the tapes for students to read and find the answers.
