It’s a yearbook.

[Cultural tip] In many countries, students like to make yearbooks. A yearbook is a book that has pictures of all of the kids and teachers in your school.
Is it a real airplane
n. 飞机
No , it’s a model plane.
n. 模型
What do they do
They are pilots.
n. 飞行员
Pilot is a cool job. But I have a fear of heights.
a fear of heights 恐高
fear n. & v. 害怕;惧怕;担忧
height n. 高度;身高
That’s a problem. Will it stop you from being a pilot If you want to be a pilot, you must overcome your fear.

三、语言点
experience / k'sp ri ns/ v. 经受;经历n. 经历;体验
experience作及物动词,其后可跟名词、动名词、代词作宾语。
I experienced many things on the trip.
我在旅途中经历了许多事情。
experience作“经验”讲时,是不可数名词;作“(一次)经历”讲时,是可数名词。
e.g. He has gained much experience of teaching.
他已经获得了许多教学经验。
This is a special experience for Kate.
对于凯特来说这是一次特殊的经历。
height /ha t/ n. 高度;身高
e.g. We don't know the height of that building.
我们不知道那座建筑物的高度。
height的形容词为high,意为“高的”,可作表语和定语。
There is a high building over there. Do you know how high it is
在那边有一栋高楼。你知道它有多高吗?
辨析high与tall
不同点:
(1)指人、动物或树木的高度时,用tall而不用high;
(2)当指一个不与地面接触的人或物离地面的高度时要用high,而不用tall;
e.g. The cat is high up in the tree.
那只猫高高地趴在树上。
(3)tall的反义词是short, high的反义词是low;
e.g. a short man (short不能用low替换) 一个矮个子男人
a low building (low不能用short替换)一座矮楼
(4)high可作副词,而tall则不能作副词。
相同点:指建筑物的高度时用tall和high均可,可说
a tall/high building。
(注:但指一个非常庞大的建筑物时要用high,因为high在程度上要大于tall。)
辨析high与highly
high指具体的高度。
e.g. The boy jumps high.
那个男孩跳得高。
highly指抽象的高度。
e.g. My teacher thinks highly of me.
我的老师对我高度评价。
