A SPEECH ABOUT PREVENTING WAR
We all love peace and hate war. War brings suffering to people. How can we put an end to war？Imagine you are representing China at the United Nations. Make a speech about how the United Nations should work to prevent war.
Present your speech to a small group of classmates and listen to their speeches. Talk about your speeches in groups. Ask each other questions about your opinions and other information you learned.
三、新课讲解
1. satisfy
作及物动词，意为“满足、使……满意”，后加名词或代词作宾语。
e.g.
The pace of change has not been quick enough to satisfy everyone. 变化的速度还不够快，还不能让所有人满意。
satisfied是形容词，意为“满意的”，用在短语be satisfied with 中，意为“对……感到满意”。
e.g.
Is your teacher satisfied with your answer 老师对你的回答满意吗？
2.When the World War II was over, an organization called the United Nations (UN) was formed to help countries talk about their problems instead of fighting.
句中的When the World War II was over是时间状语从句，说明联合国成立的时间；called the United Nations (UN)是过去分词作定语，修饰前面的名词organization，意为“叫联合国的组织”；was formed 是被动语态，说明联合国被成立；to help countries talk about their problems是不定式短语作状语，表示联合国成立的目的；instead of fighting 是介词短语作状语，意为“替代战争”，其中的instead of是短语介词，后加名词、代词或动名词作宾语。
3. It is not always easy for the members to reach agreement. 对所有成员达成一致不是很容易的。
句中的for the members to reach agreement是动词不定式复合机构作真正主语，前面的 it是形式主语，is not是系词，easy是形容词作表语。不定式复合结构有两种形式：
for somebody to do something
of somebody to do something
这里使用介词for或of与前面的形容词有关，如果前面的形容词是kind, nice, good, polite, rude, pleased, happy, clever, foolish, wrong, careful, right 等往往用介词of，其他情况往往用介词for。
e.g.It’s very of you to do so. 你能这样做太好了。
In the early twentieth century, people suffered through many wars.
与suffer 相关的短语：
① suffer from 患……病；受……折磨
② suffer for 因……而受到惩罚
e.g. You must have suffered from a cold.你一定是感冒了。
You will suffer for your foolishness some day.
总有一天，你会因你的愚蠢而受到惩罚。
When the World War II was over, an organization called the United Nations (UN) was formed to help countries talk about their problems instead of fighting.
第二次世界大战结束后，一个叫联合国的组织成立了，这一组织是为了帮助国家之间商讨解决问题而不是付诸战争。
instead of fighting 是介词短语作状语，意为“替代战争”
其中的instead of是短语介词，后加名词、代词或动名词作宾语。
e.g. She was ill, so I attended the meeting instead of her.
她生病了，所以我替她参加了会议。
Just imagine how difficult it is to satisfy all 193 members!

后接动名词
e.g. We imagine living a thousand years ago.
我们想象生活在1 000 年前。
后接从句
e.g. Can you imagine who is knocking at our door outside

Just imagine how difficult it is to satisfy all 193 members!
satisfy 的用法：
satisfy＋n./pron.使……满意
e.g. The result of the test satisfied the teachers.
测试结果使老师们很满意。
