It happens on April 1st every year and is a day when many people play all kinds of tricks and jokes on each other.
愚人节是每年的四月一日，在这一天，人们互相捉弄，开各种玩笑。
play tricks on sb. 意为“捉弄某人”，play jokes on sb.则是“对某人开玩笑 ”的意思
It's impolite to laugh at, stare at or play tricks on disabled people.
take place和happen 的区别：
(1) happen 表示偶然的没有预料到的事情的发生
take place 表示必然发生或经过布置、策划后进行的事情，表示事先安排或有准备的事情或活动的发生 还可表示“举行”的意思。
An accident happened in that street.
The sports meeting will take place in October. 运动会将在十月举行。
Great changes have taken place in my hometown.
(2) 表示某人发生了什么事情要用 sth. happen(s) to sb.
例如：What happened to her （她出什么事了？）
(3) 某人碰巧做某事 sb. happen to do sth.
I happened to meet him in the park yesterday.
I happened to be in the lab that day. 那天我碰巧在实验室。
两者皆不用于被动语态。
A concert will soon take place here. 在这里即将举办一场音乐会。
The election took place in May, 2017. 那次选举在2017年5月举行。
No matter what happens, please let me know. 不管发生什么事都请让我知道。
2.Many people ran to their local supermarkets to buy as much spaghetti as they could.
很多人跑到当地的超市抢购尽可能多的意大利面条。
as + adj./adv. + as sb. can / could 相当于as + adj./adv. + as possible，意为“尽可能地……”，在句中作状语。
We must do everything as well as we can.
= We must do everything as well as possible. 请尽早来。
Please come as early as you can. = Please come as early as possible.
3.The lady was so happy because she really wanted to get married.
这名女子非常开心，因为她真的很想结婚。
marry sb. 意为表示“嫁给某人”、“娶了某人”或“和某人结婚”。
get married 意为“结婚”，为不及物动词短语，后面不跟宾语。get married to sb. 表示“与某人结婚”。
They got married last year. 他们去年结婚了。
My brother got married to a nurse last month. 上个月我哥哥和一名护士结婚了。
辨析：get married 与 be married
get married 强调动作，是非延续性的，不和时间段连用。
They got married and soon had kids. 他们结婚了并且很快有了孩子。
be married 强调状态，意为“嫁/娶某人；与某人结婚”，常用于婚姻状况，可以和时间段连用。
My parents have been married for 30 years. 我的父母结婚三十年了。
She married John last year. = She got married to John last year.
= She has been married to John for one year.她去年嫁给了John。
get married和marry都指结婚的动作，不能与for+时间段连用；
be married 表示状态，可用于现在完成时中，和for +时间段连用。
She had been married for 8 years.
4.Why did the supermarkets run out of spaghetti one April Fool’s Day
为什么有一年愚人节超市的意大利面脱销
run out of 意为“用完；耗尽（供应品）” 。
I’m afraid we’ll run out of gas. 我担心我们会把汽油用光。
辨析：run out of 与 run out
run out of 表示“用完；耗尽（供应品）”，是及物短语动词，其主语常是人，其后可直接跟宾语。常用结构 sb. runs out of sth.。
run out 表示“用完；耗尽”，是不及物短语动词，其主语常是物（时间、金钱、食物等），其后不能接宾语，无被动语态。常用结构 sth. runs out。
They are running out of oil and the plane has to land on the field.
他们即将耗尽油料，飞机不得不降落在田地里。
Food supplies had run out by last weekend.食物供应上周末已经耗尽。
5.Many April Fool’s jokes may end up being not very funny.
许多愚人节笑话可能以不是很有趣而告终。
end up doing sth. 意为“以......结束，以......告终”。
I must make good use of my spare time, or I will end up doing nothing.
我必须充分利用我的业余时间，否则我将一事无成。
1）end up (doing sth.)（以……）结束；最终成为；最后处于
Every time she tried to argue with her husband, she ended up crying her eyes out.
每回她试着和她丈夫争辩，她总是以流泪结束。
2）end up sth. 表示“结束某事”。
The scientist ended up his speech at last.那个科学家最后结束了演讲。
3）end up with sth. （以……）结束
The students began with speaking English, but ended up with speaking Chinese.
同学们以说英语开始，却以说汉语结束。
记者刚刚结束了他的报道。The reporter has just ended up his report.
聚会以一曲舞蹈结束。The party ended up with a dance.
他们做了很多工作，结果什么也没得到。
