What:
The topic of the text is about the dialogues between strangers and self introduction. The topic is about a person with his/her self. The first question is how to introduce oneself. What does a person introduce The name, age, hometown……

Why:
The purpose of the text is to help students introduce themselves in English. To be
confident and friendly is important for them in a new school. They want to make friends.
II. Analysis of students
What they knew:
Students may be familiar with Chinese self-introduction, they may know the simple greetings. They can use “be+….” sentence and change the forms of “be” according to the subjects.
What they wonder:
They may not know how to use the target structure to ask and supply the personal information.
What they will learn:
They will learn the target structure “I’m/she is/you are…”, the personal pronouns, short answers to Yes-no questions and interrogative form of "be" sentence structure
Appropriate signs and body languages are often important in greetings.

Step1: Pre-listening
1.Lead-in
The teacher introduces herself, write her Chinese name and discuss the first name and last name. Then ask the monitor English name and Chinese pare the differences. Then write down the age and hometown on the blackboard .

What:
The topic of the text is the reading and finding specific information about people. Students are introducing themselves. They supply some detailed personal information.
How:
The text is a short passage about self introduction. Before the passage, activity1 is to highlight the order between sentences. There are 3 self introductions. The first student introduce himself in the order: greeting, name, age, hometown. And he talks about the second girl as his friend. The girl has a friend Henry, then the last English boy. He ends his speech with a greeting.
Why:
The purpose of the text is to help students introduce themselves and write self introduction. It is to encourage students to show themselves and make friends in a new school bravely. The 3 students will be their 3-year new friends: Li Daming, Wang Lingling, and Tony Smith.

What they knew:
Students have learned how to ask and answer some personal information, they can use “be” sentence, interrogative sentences.
What they wonder:
They may not know how to introduce themselves in a logic way and introduce friends at the same time.
