66.Last Friday afternoon witnessed an intense basketball match between Class 7 and my class on the school basketball court.
It was an extraordinary experience and something I will never forget. In the first half, my class was 10 points behind. Exhausted as the players were, they never gave up. As time went by, the score came to 66:67. During the last seconds, my classmate Wang Xin caught the ball, turning swiftly to get rid of the opponent and with a beautiful slam dunk, the ball fell into the basket. Everyone was on their feet, cheering. I was also caught up in the excitement and cheered so hard that I thought my lungs would burst.
Not only did the basketball match reduce us students’ pressure, but also taught us the importance of teamwork. I’m looking forward to activities like this next time.
67. Two weeks later, David led 20 students in the team to collect food for the homeless. In the whole process, David was active and creative. His behavior and attitude also influenced other students in the team. They collected more than 2,000 cans of food in just two hours, which set a new school record. They all felt happy. After that, David led a second project, collecting 300 blankets and 1,000 pairs of shoes for the homeless, and then, a third one. The local newspaper covered the event with a full-page article, in which David’s picture was up for doing something greater.
After David’s picture appeared in the newspaper, everyone saw great changes in him. He fully demonstrated his ability. All the teachers were surprised. They found that great changes were taking place on David. After he graduated from college, he opened his own company, where most workers were local people from his community. He proved his ability by his actions. From David’s story, we firmly believe that a bird with a broken wing only needs mending and once it has healed, it can fly higher than the rest.

M:OK, but I'm just going to stay at home.
Text5:
M: Can you change the room for me It’s too noisy.
W: Sorry, we don’t have any spare room today. Could you wait till tomorrow The American People-to-People Education Delegation will be leaving tomorrow morning.
Text6:
W: Have you received an invitation to Anna’s party
M: I don’t know. I haven’t checked my mail yet. When is the party, by the way
W: On July 10th.
M: That’s too bad. I’m afraid I cannot go. Some friends of mine from Chicago are coming to our city for a visit this Friday. I’ve promised to hang out with them the following day. I can’t get out of that, unfortunately. I wish I could.
W: I’m so sorry to hear that. I was really looking forward to seeing you at the party.

W:And then we left Tokyo. We went to Kamakura, and we saw the famous Giant Buddha there.
M:That's the big attraction there. And you have pictures of that, too

W: Dr. Spenser, what are the scientists at your company doing
M: We’re developing a tool to help people to see again, the people who lost their sight because of an accident.
W: So, tell us how it works.
M: Well, it uses a computer chip and special glasses. We put an extremely small chip in the blind person’s eye. And the glasses... they have a very small video camera inside.
W: So, how do the computer chip and glasses work together
M: Well, a blind person puts on the glasses and looks at something, for example, this pen. Then the video camera in the glasses, takes a picture of the pen. Then the camera sends the picture to the computer chip in the person’s eye.
W: And then the person can see the pen!
M: Exactly! This whole process happens very quickly.
W: Wow! Now, using this tool, will a blind person be able to see as well as a normal person
M: No, they won’t have perfect vision, but they will be able to see many things.
Text9:
M:So Maddie, can you tell us a little bit about yourself
W:Well, I moved to New York in 1995. And before I really started in music, I had performed ballet and did back up singing.
M:When was your first album
W:That was 1999, called By Myself.
M:And since then you've been unstoppable. Thousands of audiences got impressed by your performance and became your fans.
W:Well, I have been singing for over ten years now, and I have produced two more albums since By Myself.
M:And your last album was number one in twenty countries, and sold over 5 million copies throughout the world! And you're not only a superstar, you're also a wife and a mum.
W:Yes, I am. My little twins are a joy. They're in nursery school now. My husband is a great guy. He really cares about the girls. Plus he's a great cook!
M:Well, Maddie, thank you so much for talking to us today.
Text10:
W:I’m looking for a small apartment or maybe a small house. We are talking about 60 square metres. Nothing big. I only need two bedrooms, one for me and the other for guests. One bathroom will do, and to be honest, I hardly ever cook so the kitchen doesn’t have to be very big. It’s really important that I don’t want to be looking at just another apartment block. In front of a park would be perfect but a top floor apartment would do fine. Then I would like it to be near a transport system because I don’t have a car and use public transportation all the time. I’m single and have no kids so schools are not important. And there is just one other thing — I do a lot of work on the Internet and so I would need a broadband Internet connection. Do you think you have anything that matches my requirements

A former starchitect (明星建筑师) who designed villas for Pakistan’s celebrities now rebuilds villages completely destroyed by natural disasters.
October 2005, a catastrophic earthquake claiming some 79, 000 people in Pakistan reduced the villages to ruins in mud. Yasmeen Lari, a then-65-year-old architect was there to help lead the reconstruction of settlements. Working with volunteer architects and engineers from Pakistan and abroad, she started drawing plans for earthquake-resistant homes.
Over the following decades, Lari designed various houses and devices inside. Lari’s shelters, inspired by traditional designs and made with sustainable materials such as bamboo, mud and lime (石灰) that are sourced locally first, can better withstand disasters. Bamboo homes on stilts (柱子) allow water to flow through, while cross-bracing (交叉支撑) provides strength and flexibility during earthquakes. Lari’s insistence on low-cost, zero-waste and zero-carbon buildings reflects her commitment to the planet.
This sustainable inspiration has fuelled many of Lari’s designs, which now include household innovations. For instance, more than 80, 000 of her well-received limecrete and smokeless cookstoves were built. The device, which won a UN World Habitat Prize in 2018, costs about E8 to make and is fuelled with agricultural waste. The stoves stand higher than flood levels, making them safer than smoky, open cooking fires on the ground.
Now at age 83, Lari is still fizzing with ideas about zero-carbon designs, skills building and self-sustaining villages.
28.Which can best describe Yasmeen Lari
A.Insistent and conventional. B.Productive and stubborn.
C.Innovative and committed. D.Economical and academic.
29.What is an advantage of Lari’s shelters
A.They accommodate homeless villagers. B.They are all made of local materials.
C.They follow traditional designs. D.They are resistant to earthquakes.
30.What do we know about the stove Lari designed
A.It costs a lot. B.It generates smoke.
C.It gains popularity. D.It burns animal waste.
31.What can be a suitable title for the text
A.From architect to humanitarian B.The greatest architect ever
C.Rebuilding destroyed villages D.Designing household devices

Three-dimensional printing, a technology that creates objects layer by layer, has revolutionized (变革) the way we make things. Recently, a group of Chinese scientists took things a step further by using this technology to create realistic replicas (复制品) of human organs.
Previously, it was challenging to create a single material that could print different human organs due to their complexity. The research team from Chinese Academy of Sciences started by using hydrogel (水凝), a soft gel-like material as the main ingredient.
Human organs have various textures (质地), with our brains being the softest. To replicate the hardness of materials like bone, the researchers added metallic elements to the hydrogel and adjusted their ratio (比例) to create the texture of each organ. Besides, to make sure the printing results are correct, the team used light-curing (光固化) technology in the 3D printing process. A special lamp was placed under the printing machine, causing the gel to become solid right after it was printed.
According to the team’s paper published in the journal Advanced Functional Materials, they are able to produce organ models including the brain, lungs, and intestines (肠). These 3D printed organ models are essential for medical researches, such as testing medical equipment and demonstrating pared to live organs and animal models, they are also ethically (伦理上) acceptable since they are printed artificially. They can help researchers develop new treatments more efficiently, due to their lower relative cost, commented the Alliance of Advanced Biomedical Engineering website. However, this method is still developing, and experts are hoping it will be used in the medical field within a decade, according to CNN.
32.What was the main challenge in printing human organs
A.The complexity of human organs. B.The various textures of human organs.
C.The difficulty in creating proper materials. D.The lack of appropriate printing technology.
33.How did the research team ensure the accuracy of the printing results
A.By controlling the number of metallic elements.
B.By using light-curing technology before printing.
C.By solidifying the gel immediately after printing.
D.By putting a special lamp on the printing machine.
34.What can we infer from the last paragraph
A.This technology is still in the period of theory.
B.3D printed organs are of great medical significance.
C.The printed organs are more effective in the treatment.
D.Live organs and animal models are more acceptable ethically.
35.What is the best title for the text
A.The Power of 3D Printing B.Printing the Body Parts
C.Revolutionary Technology D.Finding New Materials for Organs

The uneducated person, on the other hand, is either unable to do something new, or just does it 64 (bad). Some people are just doomed (注定) to be failures. That’s the way some adults look at troubled kids. A bird with a broken wing will never fly as high. David was made to feel this way almost every day in school.
David was the most famous troublemaker in high school. He wasn’t confident and didn’t answer questions. From time to time he skipped classes and got into lots of fights. Teachers didn’t want to have him again the following year. However, things gradually changed during a weekend leadership meeting. All the students at school had been invited to sign up for ACE training, a program designed to have students become more involved in their communities.
At the start of the meeting, David was literally standing outside the circle of students, against the back wall, with that “go ahead, impress me” look on his face. He didn’t readily join the discussion groups. But slowly, the interactive games drew him in the discussion. David started to join them and he really had great ideas. The other students in David’s group welcomed his comments. All of a sudden David felt like a part of the group.
The next day, David was very active in all the sessions. By the end of the meeting, he had joined the Homeless Project team. He knew something about poverty, hunger and hopelessness. The other students on the team were impressed with his passionate concern and ideas. They elected David co-chairman of the team.
The very first community service project organized by the Homeless Project team was to collect food for the homeless in the charge of David. But a group of teachers doubted whether this crucial beginning should be in the hands of David. The principal reminded them that the purpose of the ACE program was to uncover any positive passion that a student had and reinforce (加强) its practice until true change can take place.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Two weeks later, David led 20 students in the team to collect food for the homeless.
