Did people eat takeout in ancient times
In fact, there was takeout as far back as the Song Dynasty(960-1279). According to history books, Emperor Xiaozong(1127-1194) liked to order takeout late at night. His servants then went around the city to pick up the dishes and bring them back to the palace.

Many scientists believe our love of sugar may actually be an addiction(上瘾). When we eat or drink sugary food, the sugar enters our blood and influences parts of our brain that make us feel good. Then the good feeling goes away, leaving us wanting more. All tasty foods do this, but sugar has a stronger effect(影响).
“It seems like every time I study an illness, I find my way back to sugar,” says Richard Johnson, a famous scientist. One-third of adults in his country have high blood pressure, and up to 347 million have diabetes(糖尿病). Why “Sugar, we believe, is one of the main reasons,” says Johnson.
Our bodies are designed to live on very little sugar. Early humans often had little food, so the bodies learned to keep sugar as fat. In this way, we had energy when there was no food. But today, most people have more than enough. So the very important thing that once saved us may now be killing us.
It’s clear that we need to eat less sugar. The trouble is, in today’s world, it’s very difficult to avoid sugar because our foods are increasingly filled with it. In most advertisements, some manufactures even use sugar to take the place of the fat in foods. As a result, the fat in the foods is less. This may make the food appear healthier, but much sugar is often added.
But there are those who are fighting back against sugar. Many schools are offering more fruit instead of desserts. Other schools are building places for students to do exercise. The battle(战斗) has not yet been lost.

The Royal Mint(英国皇家铸币厂) has announced plans for a new factory where it will deal with electronic waste to get precious(珍贵的) metals for coins and gold bars. The factory will the first of its kind in the world.
The Royal Mint is a government-owned company that makes coins for the UK and lots of other countries. Most of its coins are made from cheaper metals such as copper, tin and zinc, but the Mint sometimes makes coins and medals from precious metals like gold and silver. It also makes gold bars.
The precious metals used by the Mint mostly come from the ground, but now it plans to make use of the large amounts of electronic waste that is thrown away in the UK each year. Many electronic devices use small amounts of precious metals such as gold and silver because they are good conductors(导体) of electricity. However, just 20% of old electronics are recycled worldwide. This is not just a waste, it can be dangerous, because when e-waste is buried in rubbish dumps, metals and chemicals can leak out and pollute the environment.
Now, e-waste from the UK is sent abroad to be melted down to recover precious metals. The new factory will use chemical reactions(反应) to do the same job much quicker with far less energy. The process can get 99% of the precious metals from plastic circuit(电路) boards within a few seconds, and could provide the Mint with hundreds of kilograms of gold each year.
“Our new factory will help the UK process its own e-waste rather than send it to other countries.” said Anne Jessopp, the Mint’s chief boss.

As for me, doing sports is the best way. It’s not only good for our health, but also free ourselves from a long day’s hard work. So every evening, I play table tennis with my parents. We really enjoy it.
Since I was a kid, I have dreamt about being a writer. However, I didn’t have enough time to practise my writing. But now I can spend hours reading at weekends and try writing some short stories online. What fun!
All in all, I feel so glad that we have more time to live a richer and happier life now.
