本节课是第八单元的写作课。本课采用读写结合的方式,要求学生首先阅读分析一份关 于“市民环保举措”的调查报告 Actions Taken by City Residents to Help Protect the Environment,然后选择一个环保话题(如人们对共享单车的态度) 展开调研, 撰写一份调查 报告。希望学生通过实践,发现身边的环保问题,提出改进建议,树立主人翁意识。
教学目标与核心素养
在本课学习结束时,学生能够: 1.梳理调查报告的文本结构,明确调查报告的基本组成部分及具体内容; 2.识别调查报告典型的语言特点,尤其是运用多种方法进行定量表述,描述常见图表; 3.根据自我评价和同伴评价的意见,修改完善自己调查报告; 4.在学习写作的过程中,提高环保意识并积极行动起来。
教学重难点
教学重点: 1. 梳理“市民环保举措”调查报告的文本结构以及具体内容 ; 2. 学习调查报告典型句式、定量表述方式; 3. 提高学生环保意识并号召学生从我做起,从身边小事做起。 教学难点: 1. 对常见图表的数据分析和汇报; 2. 根据自我和同伴的评价意见,修改完善自己的调查报告。
教学过程
Step 1 Activate and Share 1. What is a survey report 2. Can you write a survey report 3. Enjoy a video about protecting the environment.
Step 2 Read for structure 1. Label each paragraph with the headings and summarize the outline.
Para.1 Para.2&3 Para.4 a) conclusion b) introduction c) positive and negative findings
Step 3 Read for details 1. Read para.1 carefully and find out When was the survey conducted Who conducted the survey How many people took part in the survey What’s the purpose of the survey 2. Read para. 2&3 and look at the graphs carefully and find out What questions are asked in the report What are the positive and negative findings 3. Read para.4 carefully and find out What’s the summary of the survey report What suggestions does the author make
Step 4 Read for language 1.Underline the quantity expressions in the report. 2.Classify the quantity expressions and learn them by heart. about / around / as high as / almost all / most of / more than / the majority of / just under / just over / not as many / very few
Step 5 Describe the graph 1.What information does the question in the graph provide 2.Use proper quantity expressions to describe the data in the graph.

Step 7 Writing task Write a survey report based on the following two graphs.
Step 8 Evaluation 1. Edit your writing in group of four according to the checklist. Is the purpose of the survey clearly stated in the report Are quantity expressions and graphs used appropriately Is a conclusion provided Is the report logically organized Mark any spelling, grammar errors or unclear expressions. 2. Share your writing with the whole class.
Step 9 Homework Improve your writing and copy it neatly.
