I have a lot to write about this week!
I want to write a report about agriculture. Agriculture is all about growing plants and raising animals for food.

To learn more about plants, we planted some seeds. I planted one in a small pot. I gave it plenty of water, and it sprouted a few days later. Soon, it grew a stem and a leaf.
Now, something new is growing at the top of the stem. It’s a flower bud. It will open up and turn into a flower. Later, the flower will become a head, and the head will turn into seeds.

I’m going to look after my plant carefully. I’ll put the pot in the yard. There, it can get some sunshine. I’ll cover it when the weather is cold. I’ll send some seeds to Li Ming. I think he will love them.
Now I’m going to draw a beautiful picture of my plant.

1. Agriculture is all about growing plants and raising animals for food. 农业是关于培育动植物以获取食物的产业。
raise /re z/ v. 饲养，养育

【拓展】
raise还有“升起；举起；募集，筹集”的意思。
e.g.
Our classmates raised some money for the sick boy in our class.

辨析：raise与rise
raise 及物动词，主要指举起、抬高。
rise 不及物动词，主要指某物自然升高，如太阳的升起，价格的上涨等。
2. To learn more about plants, we planted some seeds. 为了对植物有更多的了解，我们种了一些种子。
“To learn more about plants”是动词不定式短语，在句中作目的状语，放在句首表示强调，也可放在句尾。
e.g. To know more about the space, I learn about
the spaceships in the museum. 为了更多地了解
太空，我在博物馆了解了宇宙飞船。
3. Now, something new is growing at the top of the stem. 现在，茎的顶部正长出新的东西。
something new 形容词修饰不定代词，要放在不定代词之后。
e.g.
There is nothing important in today’s newspaper.
在今天的报纸上没有重要的东西。
Let’s buy something delicious for lunch.
让我们买点好吃的东西当午饭吧。
4. I’m going to look after my plant carefully.
我打算精心照料我的植物。
①look after 照顾；照看
look after的同义短语为take care of
look after… well的同义短语为take good care of
e.g. Don’t worry. I can look after myself well.
别担心，我会照顾好我自己。

carefully用作副词，修饰动词。
