Nowadays an increasing number of people turn to online news media for news. The rapid rise of the Internet and smart device era has made it easier for readers to access news reports online. It has been estimated that around 90% of people get at least some of their news online. With the availability of numerous news apps and news media accounts on social media, it is understandable that using online news media is a trend that is set to continue.
It is clear that online news media has advantages which are making it a popular choice. A lot of online news is free to read. It is also updated more quickly than print and broadcast media, and is easily accessible to fit every personal schedule. In addition, online news media has made it convenient for us to share news stories with our friends.
However, there are negative sides of online news media too. The huge amount of content on the Internet makes it difficult to tell what news is well researched, or even what is true at all. Besides, it is not easy to change people’s reading habits and some simply enjoy the feeling of holding a physical newspaper when reading news. For these reasons, there are still some people who choose to reject online news resources.
