Dear fellow students,
I’m delighted to announce the upcoming 18-year-old adult ceremony (coming-of-age ceremony), a momentous occasion that marks our transition into adulthood.
The ceremony is to be held at 2 p.m. this Saturday at the school hall. It will begin with a warm welcome from our school leadership. Then we will watch a video of our highlights in the past three years and be issued our adulthood certificates, after which a student representative will share insights from his life journey. In the end, we will take a collective oath, reminding us of our commitment to the personal growth and contributions to society.
Please arrive promptly in your school uniforms, ready to embrace this momentous milestone.

Then he climbed onto the railing. Taking a deep breath, he let go of the railing and jumped. The cold water surrounded him, but he managed to steady himself and began swimming towards the girl. As he got closer, he could see her face more clearly. She was crying, but her eyes were wide open, looking at him in fear and hope. Bauer reached out and gently took hold of her. When they broke through the surface, Bauer could hear shouts and cheers from above.
Finally he reached the shore with the little girl in his arms. As they were lifted out of the water, the truck driver finally came to himself. Bauer looked down at the girl. She was still crying, but her grip on him had loosened. She looked at him with wide, grateful eyes. “It’s okay, sweetie,” Bauer said, trying to comfort her. “You’re safe now.” And as he looked into her eyes, he knew that this moment, this rescue, would stay with him forever. It was a reminder of the power of love and courage, and the importance of being there for each other in times of crisis.

Then he climbed onto the railing. He was about to jump into the water when the truck driver suddenly came to himself and rushed to the railing. He looked at Bauer with fear in his eyes. “Let me go!” Bauer shouted. “Stay here with Ava!” The truck driver hesitated for a moment, then nodded. Bauer took a deep breath and jumped into the water. Thank Goodness! He was unhurt! He swam towards the little girl, picked her up, and began to swim towards the shore.
Finally he reached the shore with the little girl in his arms. He watched as the little girl was taken away and given to the truck driver and Ava. They were both smiling, their eyes full of gratitude and admiration. Back in the car, Ava hugged him tightly, tears welling up in her eyes. “Dad, I was so scared,” she said. “I know, baby,” Bauer said tenderly. “But it’s over now, and you’re both safe.” They drove home in silence, but Bauer knew that he was not just a skilled professional, but also a courageous and responsible father.

W: I’ve heard of that. “By the skin of your teeth”, for example — just barely getting out of a bad situation.
M: Actually, that one is not from Shakespeare. “Clothes make the man”, “What’s done is done”, “melt into thin air” — these all come from Shakespeare. The only problem is, while literature is interesting, it’s not very useful in our careers, unlike economics or math. By the way, do you take math course (12)
W: Yes, (12) I think it is interesting. But what you said just now is not exactly true. All these phrases can help break the ice when we’re meeting new people. Being good at conversation is one of the most important career skills, no matter what your job is. (13)

Photography is the art of capturing(拍摄) moments, understanding light conditions, and telling creative stories. But I’d say it’s also one of the easiest and most rewarding art forms. At this exhibition, we’ll first show you the roots of photography technology. So, please, everyone — follow me. (17) Along with the world’s leading photography museums in Chicago, USA and Lianzhou, China, this museum here in the Netherlands features one of the most extensive historical photography collections. (17) (18) In the year 1021, a model of the first-ever camera was created. Although it couldn’t capture photographs, its mirror imaging was the basis of camera technology. Six hundred years later, these camera rooms were researched and made smaller. But it wasn’t until 1826 that film paper was used to create the world’s first photo. Only 60 years later, film cameras went from being the size of a car to just a handheld box, as Kodak launched the first commercial camera. (19) Film photography then became essential to capturing history and telling humanity’s stories. In 1991, the first commercial digital camera was made. And then, in 2000, tiny cameras were first put on cell phones. Anyway, I know we have some young photographers visiting today, so let’s look through this exhibition’s camera collection, and I’ll let you all try them out! (17) (20)
