教材分析 The reading passage of this article introduces a new form of music, the Virtual Choir and its founder Eric Whitacre. This paper is divided into four sections, mainly by explanation and supplemented by narration. The first paragraph briefly introduces the definition, advantages and positive effects of virtual choir. The second and third paragraphs introduce the story of composer and conductor Eric Whitacre, the founder of the virtual choir, and how he founded the virtual choir. The two paragraphs are divided into one part by a transitional sentence. The fourth paragraph summarizes the role and significance of the virtual choir in one sentence, which reflects the author's point of view.
学情分析 The students are in senior one,who have a high enthusiasm for learning, but students have different English foundations and lack of autonomous reading ability. They have good learning ability and strong culture cognition ability. It would be better to give guidance in terms of thinking ability. In the aspect of language competence, most students are deficient. They may be a bit lacking in oral expression, so it is necessary to enhance oral expression in the post-reading. Students like active classroom atmosphere.

Help students sort out the main meaning of each paragraph and understand the narrative characteristics of "timeline” in illustrative style. To cultivate students’ ability to scan the text to get some important date, figures, names.

Have a prediction of the text Arouse their interest in the topic and provide basic information for them. This section is aimed at guiding students to use titles and illustrations to aid reading. Read by making predict is important step while start to go through a passage.
While-reading Step 4 skimming Activity4: Ask Ss to Skim the text and match the paragraph with its main idea. Step 5 Scanning Activity5: Ask Ss to read in detail and finish the mind map by snanning. Activity6: Ask Ss to read in detail and answer the following questions. 1. The man who came up with the idea of virtual choir 2. The place where he studied musical composition 3. The name of his song. Activity7: Ask Ss to make a time line and fill in the blank and find out the function of numbers. Activity8: Ask Ss to answer the question “What’s the influence of the virtual choir How do you know ” by finding out the evidence. Step 6 inferring Activity9: Ask Ss to answer the question “What’s the writer’s attitude towards the virtual choir ” by inferring. Read the passages quickly and find out the answers. Read the text carefully and locate their answers. According to the timeline, students will remind them of what they have learnt from the text. Recognize the author’s attitude according the context. Sorting out the structure and main ideas of paragrphs helps them to grasp the main idea of this passage This part aims to cultivate students' ability to extract the key words of information, so as to pave the way for the following details of reading. These activities include factual detail questions. Checking answers help Ss to have a better understanding of the content in the text. This session aims to help them retell the text better.
Post reading Step 6 thinking Activity10: Play a video of the song of virtual choir and let Ss compare the difference between the virtual choir and the reality choir. Step 7 speaking Activity11: Groupwork to present a dialog according to the passage Find out the useful expressions in the conversation. Use the phrases learnt today to express their ideas on the following questions. Enable the students to think creatively based on the information learnt from the passage. Enable the students to express their understanding of a virtual choir.
