这个合集为我在2023年秋学期任教高一时带学生练习的题目及课件，因为只有10篇，所以未包含全部上面我列出的全部主题。但是10篇练习下来，大部分学生的表达已经非常非常好了，所以大家放心用吧～
PS：上课时我是要求学生把PPT上的表格全部记到笔记本上，并利用早读时间全部背诵且默写的～

01读后续写练习: 丢戒指后续
Paula is a 55-year-old woman living in New Jersey. She lives a happy life without concern for financial or social problems and she constantly shares laughs with her family and friends. About ten years ago, her husband Michael gave her a gold ring with a diamond in it on their 20th wedding anniversary. She cherished it very much and wore it every day.
Having been married for almost 30 years, Paula had everything set for herself, and knew that her life in New Jersey was a thrilling one. One day, Paula was in the bathroom cleaning everything up, from the sink to the floor. She wanted to keep her house clean and beautiful. As soon as Paula finished washing the bathtub, she moved on to the part she feared most: the toilet. Wanting to get it out of the way, she quickly cleaned the inside of the toilet with a brush, and flushed (冲走) the soap away. After finishing, she felt there was something wrong, but she couldn’t think of what it was.
Paula’s heart skipped a beat when she noticed that her left ring finger felt a bit lighter. She slowly looked down at her ring finger, hoping that her treasured anniversary gift was still on it. She was frightened to see that it was lost. She didn’t notice that she flushed it down the toilet.
Paula said, “I must have flushed it down. It had been a little big on my finger, because it was winter time and my hands were smaller. I felt so bad about it. Sad and embarrassed.”
She couldn’t believe that she just let thousands of dollars go down the drain (下水道)，literally. She searched the bathroom and even the house, hoping that she just dropped it somewhere and forgot about it. She even took apart the toilet and searched the inside pipes with a flashlight, but in vain. Paula had no idea how to explain this to her husband. To buy the ring, Michael worked extra hard before the anniversary, so to tell him the bad news was unimaginable for Paula.
Para1: She softly knocked on the door to their bedroom.
Para2: After finishing her explanation, Paula wiped away her tears and waited for Michael to say something.

02续写练习：母亲的疤痕
Raju's family was the smallest family on the coastal line of Kanyakumari. Raju was 10 years old. He was tall, dark and handsome and had a lot of dreams. He had always dreamt of living in a city. He was always his dad's charm, as he was not quite happy to spend time with his mom. All he could remember about his mom was her scars, red and white scars on her face, neck and hands. He always felt unpleasant to see his mom's face. But what he did not know was that his mom scratched her beauty to save him from a fire when he was one year old. Not wanting to burden him with it, Raju's parents kept it a secret.
His mom Kamala used to drop him to school and pick him up every day. He felt awkward to see his mom with that scarred face standing in front of the school gate. As he was laughing and chatting with his fellow school mates, all of them became silent and started staring at the gate. So, Raju turned towards the gate with a lot of curiosity. He froze when seeing his mom, face covered with a piece of cloth. Raju felt ashamed and rushed out of the school with lots of anger.
With days passing by, Raju started to dislike his mom more. He did not like to get picked up or dropped by his mom. He felt that she was ugly and so abnormal. As he grew old, he stopped going out with her to the market or anywhere outside. Kamala tried her best to make her son happy, got him everything that he wanted and gave him his space. She understood what her son was going through and felt pity for herself and sad for her son, as she was helpless.
When Raju turned 15, he was sent to a city high school 67 kilometers away from his coastal village. The very thought of not being with his ugly mother made him very happy.
Three years later, then came Raju's graduation ceremony. His parents didn't want to be absent from such an important occasion, so they managed to be there without informing Raju.
Para1: Raju was shocked when seeing his parents arrive at the ceremony hall.
Para2: Hesitating for a moment, Raju's father told him everything that happened many years ago.

Having walked up to them, Raju managed a smile/forced a strained smile and greeted his father, totally ignoring his mother, whose face was covered with a piece of cloth again. However, when Raju heard some students whispering about his mother’s face with curiosity, a mixture of embarrassment and anger overwhelmed him. “You have ruined my graduation ceremony!” said Raju, biting his teeth and giving his mother a furious look. Boiling with rage, Raju seized his mum’s arm and pushed her hard, attempting to drive her out of the hall. Struggling to stand still, his mum [hung down her head, endeavoring to hold back tears][sobbed, hiding her face in her hands].

Upon hearing the unexpected fact, Raju was numb with shock, utterly speechless. With scenes of hurting his mum emerging in his mind, so regretful about his previous behaviour was Raju that tears of guilt filled his eyes. He reached out his hands to touch those scars on Mum’s face cautiously and tenderly, murmuring “sorry” again and again. He could hardly imagine the amount of pain his mother had gone through physically and mentally owing to him. Mum raised her head, looked straight into her son's eyes and slowly showed a relieved smile. Gazing at mum’s face, Raju eventually realized the sacrifice she made for him and threw himself into mum’s arms.
03续写题目：女儿离家又回家
Lily was the only child in her home. She had just had a quarrel with her mother that afternoon and had run angrily out of the house. She couldn’t help crying when she thought of the scolding from her mother. Having wandered aimlessly in the street for hours, she felt a hungry and wished for something to eat. However, this was not possible for her, since she had no money. She stood beside a stand for a while, watching the middle-aged seller busy doing his business. With no money in hand, she sighed and decided to leave. The seller behind the stand noticed the young girl and asked, “Hey, girl, do you want to have some noodles ” “Oh, yes…but I don’t have money on me ...” she replied.
“That’s nothing. I’ll treat you today,” said the man. “Come in.” The seller brought her a bowl of noodles, whose smell was so appetizing. Lily thanked the man and started to gobble up(狼吞虎咽)the delicious food with silent tears running down her cheeks. “What is it ” asked the man kindly. “Nothing. I was just moved by your kindness!” said Lily as she wiped away her tears. “Even a stranger on the street will give me a bowl of noodles, while my mother drove me out of the house. She showed no care for me. She is so mean and cruel!” Lily added.
Hearing the words, the seller smiled kindly and whispered, “Girl, do you really thinks so I only gave you a bowl of noodles and you thanked me a lot. But it is your mother who has raised you since you were a baby. Can you count the number of times that she has cooked for you Have you expressed your thanks to her ”
Lily sat there, speechless and numb with shock, remembering her mother’s familiar face and weathered hands. “Why did I not think of that ” she thought to herself. “A bowl of noodles from a stranger made me feel grateful, but I have never thanked my mum for what she has done for me.”
At that moment, Lily knew that as soon as she arrived home, she would give her mother an apology for her terrible rudeness.

With scenes of quarreling with her mother emerging in her mind, so regretful about her terrible rudeness was Lily that she felt an overwhelming sense of guilt mixed with uneasiness. “I shouldn’t act in that way. But for mom’s devotion and care, I wouldn’t have had such a happy life. ” an inner voice reminded her.
Her mother came back home, which called her mind back.

Upon catching sight of the familiar figure of mom, Lily rose to her feet and walked over to her. “Where did you go I’ve been looking for you!” exclaimed mom, who were still out of breath, but let out a sigh of relief after seeing her beloved daughter. Mom’s look of exhaustion added to Lily’s guilt. Lily couldn’t help throwing herself into her mother’s arms and sobbing bitterly, expressing her sincere apology for her previous behaviour and great gratitude for everything mom have done for her. Hearing these words, mom stroked Lily’s hair tenderly, with her face expanding with a big smile.

There was a little boy named Johnson, who lived with his father in their attractive little cottage1 near a forest. They didn’t have much but were content with2 the little they had. Every day after he came home from school, Johnson would accompany his father to3 the forest to collect firewood.
One day, when Johnson was in the forest collecting wood, he came across4 a puppy (幼犬) which seemed to be all alone. Johnson looked here and there5 for his owner but in vain6. So he picked him up, put him under his shirt and carried him home. Having reached home, he said to his father, “Dad, I found a little puppy alone in the forest! Can we keep him, please ” Feeling Johnson’s happiness, his father couldn’t decide whether to keep the puppy or not at the time. He told him, “Oh, Johnson, that’s the cutest puppy I’ve ever seen! But we don’t have much. What will we do about his food and sleeping arrangement7 ” Johnson replied, “It’s OK. I’ll give him half of my meals and let him sleep with me in my bedroom.” Hearing this, Johnson’s father just nodded. Johnson was wild with joy8, and he named the puppy Rigo.
From that day onwards9, Johnson and Rigo became the best friends. Rigo followed Johnson wherever he went. When Johnson went to school, Rigo would patiently wait outside the classroom till the classes ended. At night, Rigo slept next to Johnson on his tiny bed and dreamed sweet dreams.
On one particular day10, Rigo was sick, unable to follow Johnson so he stayed at home. That day it rained heavily, and the roads everywhere turned slippery (湿滑的). On his way home, Johnson was trying to reach home as soon as possible as he imagined Rigo waiting for him and keeping him warm. Unfortunately, Johnson missed seeing11 a hole at the side of the road and fell down the hole12! He cried for help13, hoping to be heard by passers-by14. But due to the loud thundering and noise of the heavy rain, no one heard him.

05 续写：打破窗户后续
I have already forgotten the name of an old lady who was a customer on my paper-delivery route when I was a twelve-year-old boy. Yet it seems like just yesterday that she taught me a lesson in forgiveness that I can only hope to pass on to someone else someday.
On a mindless Saturday afternoon, a friend and I were throwing rocks onto the roof of the old lady’s house. We just wanted to observe how the rocks changed to missiles(导弹) as they rolled to the roof’s edge and shot out into her yard.
I found myself a perfectly smooth rock and sent it for a ride. The stone was too smooth, however, so it slipped from my hand as I let it go and headed straight for a small window on the old lady’s back door. At the sound of broken glass, we took off from the old lady’s yard faster than any of our missiles flew off her roof.
I was too much scared! However, a few days later, when I was sure that I hadn’t been discovered, I started to feel guilty. She still greeted me with a smile each day when I gave her the paper, but I was no longer able to act comfortable in her presence.
I made up my mind that I would save my paper delivery money, and in three weeks I had the ten dollars that I thought would cover the cost of her window.

In the letter I expressed my sincere apology for breaking her window and my wish that ten dollars could cover repair bill. And at the end of the letter, I signed my name.Unsure about the way she responded to the letter, I didn’t make my way to the old lady’s house immediately. Instead, I waited until the darkness fell. Having tiptoed to her home, I put the letter in front of her door with great caution and left. Though my sense of guilt was relieved a little after sending the letter, I kept tossing and turning that night, wondering whether she would forgive me or not.
The next day, after receiving the paper, she thanked me and said, “I have something for you.”

She reached into her pocket and took an envelope. It was what I left in front of her house last night! So astonished was I that I gazed at the envelope, utterly speechless. Sensing my confusion, she patted me gently on the back and replied to me with a mysterious smile. As I proceeded to deliver newspapers, I tore open the envelope. Inside was ten dollars and a short note which read “I’m delighted that you choose honesty and integrity. Your attitude counts more than money.” Tears of gratitude filling my eyes, I would always treasure the 10 dollars as a reminder of my mistake and a lesson about forgiveness.

My Father’s Son
It’s hard being an astronaut’s（宇航员）son. I often wonder how my father ever had a son like me. I mean he’s so special and so good at everything he does. But I’m just an average eleven-year-old kid.
Nowadays I dream about being a famous writer, but I used to dream about doing something big to impress my father and make him proud of me — something like saving a child from a burning building or driving a robber away from an old lady.
I was daydreaming in school one morning (which I do often). I was daydreaming about being some kind of hero when my friend Ellen reminded me of my English teacher’s announcement about a Father’s Day essay contest.
“I hope we have a winner right here in my English class,” she said. “There are three prizes for each of you.”
When I got home, I kissed my mom quickly. Then I went upstairs to my room and sat down with a pen and a pad of paper. I started to think about what I would write.
How did I see my father Hmm.
I saw him teaching me how to use a bat and how to throw a baseball.
I remembered how he hugged me for hours when my dog Spotty was hit and killed by a car.
And I remembered how he sat and tried to explain death to me when Grandpa Bob died.
These were the things I was going to write about my dad. To me, he wasn’t just a world-famous astronaut. He was my dad.
I wrote about all these memories and put them in my essay. I handed it in the next day and was surprised to find out that the winning essays would be read in the hall on Thursday night. All the parents and students were invited.
My parents and I went to school Thursday night. One of our neighbors said, “I bet you’ll win the contest, David. I bet you wrote what it’s like to be the son of an astronaut, and you’re the only one in town who could write about that.”
Para1: I shrugged and then the first prize winner — Ellen was announced.

Seeing my friend heading towards the stage, I managed a smile, feeling a mixture of frustration and disappointment. It came no surprise that Ellen won the first prize, owing to her competence in writing and vivid description of her father. No sooner had she finished reading her essay, whose content was about her father’s dedication as a police and several risky situations he encountered when arresting criminals, than the whole audience stood up and clapped. I turned to my father and sensed his admiration for my friend from his eyes, something that I desired for a long time. If only it were me on the stage!

I had watched performance of Les Miserables (《悲惨世界》) 40 times. I fell in love with the songs back in 1985 when they were first released — Bring Him Home, I Dreamed A Dream and On My Own. Even as a head teacher, I hadn’t read the Victor Hugo novel and knew very little about the musical, but the songs captured my attention instantly and I happily sang along whenever I heard them on the radio.
Five years later I set out on a trip around the world with my wife and daughter. On one of our stops in Vancouver, Canada, I saw a large advertising banner promoting Les Miserables and immediately suggested booking tickets. On the drive to the theatre, we discussed what we knew of the storyline — nothing but the French Revolution. But we did love the rollercoaster ride of emotions and the tragic story of Jean Valjean when enjoying it.
On the late-night drive home, on a high after this amazing performance, I announced that I wanted to perform in the musical when we returned to Australia. This was an incredible statement, given we lived 50 kilometers from the nearest large town, Toowoomba. There was little likelihood of ever having a chance to perform. But the Toowoomba Choral Society bought the performance rights in 1992 with the view to perform it in 1994. I had seen a few of their performances but was not a member of the choir. They called for auditions and, emboldened by the chance to be part of the “Les Mis” experience, I went along. I had had no experience singing and had never performed in any musicals but I believed in miracles and hoped for a place for me somewhere in the chorus.
I tried out for the part of Javert with others as well as the students from the University of Southern Queensland. Rehearsals (排练) started immediately and I got a crash course in singing, acting and dancing. There was so much to learn and as I drove to rehearsals three times a week a little voice would say, “You are in over your head, get out now.”
