When you hear the word “shapeshifting”(变形), you may think of the robots in the science fiction movies instead of the animals. But that’s what animals are doing to deal with(处理)climate change(气候变化).
Animals have their own ways to deal with climate change. For example, a new study shows that some warm-blooded animals are experiencing their body changes because of the climate. Some of them are slowly growing larger beaks(喙), legs and cars because of the rising temperature, while others living in colder climates have smaller legs, ears and beaks.
“When we talk about climate change, we often ask ourselves ‘Can humans control this ’ or ‘What technology(科技)can solve this ’ But we should know that just like humans, animals also have to be used to these changes,” said the writer, Sara Ryding.Larger beaks, legs and cars can help them lose heat(热量)more easily, so they can cool themselves down as the earth gets warmer. If animals can’t control their body temperature, they can overheat and die.
In one example, the beaks of some Australian parrots have grown 4 to 10 percent larger since 1871.The study says that is because of rising summer temperatures over the years. There are more examples—wood mice have longer tails, and bats have bigger wings in warm climates.
Although the changes are still small, Ryding said they could be more clear as the days become hotter.“Body parts like ears may become much bigger, so we might have animals like Dumbo, a big-cared clephant in Disney cartoon, in the near future.”
Although animals are changing their body shapes, scientists say that it doesn’t mean everything is fine.It just means they are trying hard to live. Not all animals will succeed.“Humans have caused the climate change, which is giving a lot of pressure on animals.” said Ryding.

A.By providing pictures. B.By telling stories.
C.By asking questions. D.By giving examples.
54.According to the text, which of the following is TRUE
A.Humans have already controlled the climate change.
B.Some animals may be in danger with rising temperatures.
C.Animals’ body parts will become smaller and smaller.
D.Animals are giving humans a lot of pressure about climate.
55.What can we learn from the text
A.We should get on well with our environment. B.We should care more about our health.
C.We should know more about animals’ food. D.We should learn more about body parts.
