Gordon Hartman had just got out of the swimming pool on a family holiday, when his12-year-old daughter Morgan went up to some children playing in the water. She tried to play with them but they quickly left the pool. Hartman thought, they didn’t know how to interact with someone with a disability—Morgan has a condition.
The incident stuck in Hartman’s mind. He asked other parents where he could take his daughter-somewhere she would feel comfortable, and others would feel comfortable interacting with her. He realised such a place didn’t exist.
So he decided to build a theme park where people with and without special needs could play. The park, called Morgan’s Wonderland, opened in 2010 in San Antonio, Texas. Attractions include an adventure playground and a carousel(旋转木马)with specially designed chariots (双轮敞篷马车)for wheelchairs that go up and down alongside the animals.
However, it was three years before Morgan would go on the carousel. “When we opened, she was too frightened to go on it. She didn’t understand why it was going around,” Hartman says.
“First she would stand near it, then she’d get on an animal but we wouldn’t start it. It was a slow process but now she loves going on it. And she knows the park is named after her.
Since it opened Morgan’s Wonderland has received over a million visitors. Entrance is free to any guest with a disability.
“I didn’t want cost to be a barrier(障碍)for people with special needs” Hartman says, “We open every year knowing we’re going to lose over 750,000.”
Hartman says most visitors are not disabled-and that the park is having the effect hoped for.
“It helps people realize that though we are different in some ways, actually we are all the same”, he says, “I saw one girl in a wheelchair go up to another girl without special needs, and they began playing together. That’s cool.”
24. What do the underlined words “The incident” refer to in paragraph 2
A Morgan refused to leave the pool.
B. Morgan lost interest in swimming.
C. Morgan avoided playing with another swimmer.
D. Morgan failed to interact with other kids.
25. What can we learn about Morgan’s Wonderland
A. It is named after its builder. B. It is going through difficult times.
C. It is free to anyone with special needs. D. It is designed only for the disabled.
26. What does Hartman think of Morgan’s Wonderland
A. It gives visitors prizes and honor. B. It is a place full of respect and care.
C. It will become a big commercial success. D. It doesn’t meet his expectations.

One form of social prejudice (偏见)against older people is the belief that they cannot understand or use modern technology. Activities like playing computer games, surfing the Internet and downloading songs are only for the youngsters. Isn't it unfair that older people enjoying a computer game should be frowned upon(反对) by their children and grandchildren
Nowadays older people have more control over their lives and they play a full part in society. Moreover, better health care has left more people in their sixties and seventies feeling fit and active after retirement. Mental activity, as well as physical exercise, can contribute to better health. Playing computer games is a very effective way of exercising the brain.
When personal computers were first introduced, most older people didn't believe they would ever familiarize themselves with them. Now computers have been around for a few generations and retired people have gradually become more relaxed about using them for fun. Gamers over 65 prefer playing puzzle games and card games. Kate Stevens, aged 72, says,“ I find it very relaxing. It's not very challenging, but you still need to concentrate(集中注意力).”
Another development that has favored“grey games” is a change in the type of video games available on the market. There's a greater variety of games to choose from, including more intellectual and complex methods and simulation(模拟)games. Internet Chess and Train Simulator are among the most popular of these. Train Simulator is based on real-world rail activities. Players can choose from a variety of challengers, such as keeping to a strict timetable and using helper engines during a winter storm.
Some people argue that “grey gamers” simply don't have the skills required for computer games, and that teenagers are better. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Most computer games require the kind of analytical thinking(分析思维) that improves with practice, which means that the “grey gamers” may well be far better than gamers half a century younger than them. In games where speed is the main consideration, older people would be at a disadvantage because they may have slower reaction time. On the other hand,“ grey gamers” have a preference for slower-paced, mind-challenging games.
27. What’s the purpose of the second paragraph
A. To show the best way to exercise the brain.
B. To explain why grey gamers exist.
C. To stress the importance of good health.
D. To teach how to play video games.
28. What was older people’s attitude towards personal computers at first
A. Worried. B. Supportive.
C. Doubtful. D. Interested.
29. The method the author uses to develop paragraph 4 is .
A. giving examples B. offering analyses
C. listing numbers D. making comparisons(比较)
30. The underlined part in paragraph 5 probably means .
A. mind-challenging games are not suitable for older people
B. teenagers should improve their skills with practice
C. playing computer games requires analytical thinking
D. older people may perform well in some computer games

第五部分 写作
Dear fellow students,
Faced with the still raging pandemic, we take the chief responsibility for our own personal health. Thus, I’m appealing to all of you to take measures to safeguard our health.
Nothing is more important than health, without which nothing can be achieved and everything will end up in dust. It is highly advocated that we keep a balanced diet to take in as much nutritious and diverse food as possible. Then we should work out on a regular basis to build up a strong barrier against the virus and potential risks. Most importantly, wearing facial masks correctly and holding a positive attitude are also necessary.
Hopefully we can all develop a healthy lifestyle to help protect against the virus and diseases. Wish you a healthy life!

Listening manuscript(录音原文)
(Text 1)
W: You’re always cleaning around the house on weekends. I think you must enjoy it.
M: Not really.
W: To my surprise. But your house is tidy and clean.
M: I know. I’d rather relax or go hiking. But weekends are the only time I can clean the house.
(Text 2)
W: Hey, George, you look tired. What have you been up to
M: I’ve just got back from the Philippines. The flight was long, but it was great; the beaches were beautiful and the hotel was really relaxing.
W: Wow, amazing!
(Text 3)
W: Alan and I are going to eat at the restaurant by the station after the meeting. Would you like to come along
M: I went there about two months ago, and the service was pretty slow.
W: Well, I heard they had a new manager a couple of weeks ago, so maybe it’s better now. And it’s close enough to walk to.
(Text 4)
M: I have no idea whether my workmates will come to the party or not.
W: Don’t worry. We have enough food for all of them.
(Text 5)
W: How is your brother doing
M: He’s great. He’s been training hard for a 42- kilometer race in June.
W: That’s fantastic. What’s he doing to prepare
M: He runs about 10 kilometers every other day and he watches his diet carefully.
(Text 6)
W: Good afternoon. Thank you for calling Wilson Law Firm. This is Monica.
M: Hi, Monica, this is Carl from Wholesale Office Supplies. I am returning your call about the broken copy machine in your shop. I can come by and fix it tomorrow afternoon if that’s okay.
W: Actually, I have quite a few documents that I need to copy as soon as possible. Is there any chance you could come this afternoon
M: Hmm … I could probably fit you in sometime late this afternoon. I’ll call you about 30 minutes before I get there.
W: Okay, thank you. See you then.
(Text 7)
M: Excuse me. I’m looking for a video camera. I’ve never had one before, and I’m wondering if you could make some suggestions.
W: Sure. It’ll help, though, to know what your specific needs are and how much you’d like to spend.
M: Well, I plan to use it most when I go on vacation. I have a couple of trips coming up, and I’d like to record my experiences. I’ve never operated video equipment, though, so I’d like something that’s basic.
W: In that case, I’d recommend the Sepler 83. I personally like this one the best because it’s very easy to operate.
(Text 8)
W: Hi, Jane calling. I’m on the bus headed to the restaurant for the customer dinner, but I’m running late. My meeting was longer than I expected.
M: Oh, right — the sales meeting. So do you know how to get to the restaurant
W: Well, I just know it’s near Cloverfield Park, but I’m not sure how to get to the restaurant from the bus stop. Could you meet me there so I can walk over with you
M: Sure. How soon
W: I don’t know, but right now we’re passing the City Musuem.
M: Oh, so it’ll be about ten minutes. I’ll see you soon.
(Text 9)
W: Don’t you live by the new supermarket
M: I used to, but I didn’t really like the area, so last year we decided to move back to Manhattan. Now we can go anywhere on foot, even the kids’ school is only a ten-minute walk. We live in that new building next to the old cake shop.
W: Oh, that’s great. It’s an amazing building. I drive past it every day to get here to the office.
M: I have to say we’re quite lucky. Actually, I know it’s quite near but since you drive past my building every day, maybe you could give me a lift when the weather’s bad, so I don’t have to take the crowded bus.
W: Yes. And they’re saying it’s going to rain all day tomorrow. What time shall I pick you up Is 7:45 too early for you
M: Not at all. 7:45 is just fine. See you tomorrow, then.
W: See you.
