This passage is from junior 2 Unit1 Reading10 Bus driver and passengers save an old man. It’s about a news report which is related to our daily life. In this unit, it mainly focuses on helping the students talk about health problems and accidents and then teach then how to give advice and treatments.
Ⅲ. Analysis of students
According to a year’s study, the students of this phase have mastered some basic knowledge. They have learned some knowledge about object clauses. In this semester, it needs detailed teaching. News report is closely related to the actual life of students. Students have a great interest in learning and the teaching organization is not so difficult. The students in the age are gradually establishing their own values. Using this class leads students to the values of integrity and know how to give other people a hand rightly.
Ⅳ. Teaching objectives
By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to
1. Memorize the new words and phrases.
2. Learn about Chinese popular stories about helping others. Talk about and read the texts about helping others’ news. Get to understand the basic features and structures of news
3. Guess the meanings of new words and phrases through the pictures or the context, form good reading habits and skills to find the information in text.
4. Establish right values and have the courage to help others, to be a kind person.

Ⅵ. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Warming up (3 min)
Show a video of a social hot spot about “help or not” and let students think about the question for preparing the study of this unit.
T: Watch the news carefully and think that if you’re a passer-by, will you help the old lady
T: Now, I think you have your own answer. After this class, let’s see if your answer will change and think about the reason. If you remember similar cases and try to tell us.
Step 2 Pre-reading (3min)
Read the passage quickly and find the main idea of each paragraph.
Step 3 While Reading
Read Para.1 and find the answers to the questions. (6 min)
Find important information, like where, how, who, what, when.这几个关键词板书引导学生找出答案 And lead students think about the pattern of news.
Read Para.2 and find the answers to the questions. (8 min)
Focus “How” and ask student the developing of the story. Asking students what they will do if they face such an accident and give proper aid advice.

Read Para.3 and find the answers to the questions. (5 min)
Find the end of the story and the comments of a passenger. Asking students did the passengers think Wang Ping did the right thing and the reasons.
Further Reading (6 min)
Reread the passage and find questions that cannot be answered. Asking students the real reason why the writer wrote the passage. Let student rethink if they should help others and how to help.
Step 4 Post Reading (13 min)
Share a story about helping others in the group.
Try to write a piece of news similar to the passage we learn. Share and polish in the group and then present it in class.

Practice new words and phrases
Watch more touching news about helping others and try to retell them.
