His teachings emphasized the importance of moral values, respect for elders, and social harmony. A Famous Figure in Chinese History—Li Bai
As we know, our country has a long history of five thousand years, and there are many famous poets, such as Li Bai,Du Fu, Du Mu, Ou Yangxiu and so on. As for the famous figure whom I admire most, it must be Li Bai.
Li Bai,born in the 701 AD,is a romantic poet of the Tang Dynasty, with the name of poetry god. He is cheerful and generous, likes drinking wine, writing poetry and making friends. And he has many famous works, such as Invitation to Wine 将进酒 ,Jing Ye Si 静夜思 ,Difficult Roads in Shu 蜀道难 and so on.

They give people a tasteful spiritual enjoyment,so that readers can feel the beauty and meaning of life while they are enjoying the poetry, which can encourage people to overcome difficulties. Maybe I can’t achieve as much as him, but I am determined to become a person like him, a person of great creativity, optimism and inspiration.
范文3【2023年高考题甲卷】A Famous Figure in Chinese History—Fan Zhongyan
The Historical Figure in China— Fan Zhongyan
Among the Chinese historical figures that are widely acknowledged,Fan Zhongyan is the most influential in my opinion. Here are the reasons.
Known as a Chinese writer and politician in the Song Dynasty,Fan Zhongyan was highly appreciated because he made great contributions to society. He spared no effort to carry out a series of reforms to make our country prosperous. Besides, he proposed the establishment of a national school system, which had a far-reaching influence on the Chinese educational system.
What impresses me most is his famous philosophy of life: "Be the first to worry about the troubles across the land, the last to enjoy universal happiness." Fan Zhongyan is such a role model that he always encourages me to be a man of noble character.

参考范文
Dear Jim,
It’s great to hear from you. I feel proud knowing your interest in Chinese history. As for my favorite figure in Chinese history, it must be the great thinker and educator, Confucius.
About twenty-five hundred years ago, Confucius was born. His father died when he was only three years old and his mother brought him up on her own. He left his hometown and started to travel around all the neighbor countries. He stressed the importance of kindness, duty, and order in society. His thoughts have affected generations to generations.
From his famous saying, “You can always find something to learn from the people who keep you company.”, I learn that if I am always modest, and learn from people around me, I will make much more progress.
If you want to know more about Chinese history, don’t hesitate to ask me.
Yours,
Li Hua

The new skill I acquired was skating. The process is challenging but productive.
Initially, on watching the Winter Olympics Games in Beijing, I became enthusiastic about skating. From then on, I was determined to master this fascinating sport. However, at the very beginning, when I stepped on the ice, I stumbled over myself. Hard as I strive, I still fell over again and again. The moment I thought of the athletes on the field, I was inspired by their powerful spirits. Eventually, my persistence and painstaking efforts paid off. I can skate freely all by myself.
From the learning experience, I fully understand that only by diligent practicing can we overcome many kinds of difficulties. And eventually, we can have a good command of what we desire to learn.

Dear foreign teacher,
I am Li Hua, one of your students. Regarding the grouping method for the oral training course, I would like to raise some concerns and suggestions. While it is true that randomly mixing up students can encourage more communication and interaction, there may also be some potential issues to consider.
Firstly, random grouping can result in students with vastly different speaking abilities being paired together. This may make some students with stronger communication skills feel inhibited, while those with weaker speaking skills may feel overwhelmed. Additionally, some students may feel uneasy and uncomfortable having to work with unfamiliar classmates.
Therefore, I suggest that a more thoughtful grouping method be adopted, such as grouping students according to their exam grades, verbal performance, or interests. This would allow each student to practice their spoken English with peers who are of a similar proficiency level(相似的熟练程度), and ones with similar interests, which would serve to enhance student motivation and confidence. This approach also ensures that students with varying abilities have opportunities to develop their language skills.
I hope that my suggestions will be considered. Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
Li Hua
参考范文2
Dear Ryan,
I'm Lihua from Class 3. I would like to express my concerns regarding your plan to randomly divide students
into pairs for post-class oral practice.
Some students may share common interests or learning needs, and they can help and motivate each other.
However, if they are assigned to different groups, their full potential might not be realized. Furthermore, random
grouping could result in language proficiency disparities(语言能力差距加大) within the groups, which could affect the effectiveness of practicing oral skills. Based on these concerns, I suggest allowing students to form teams voluntarily, based on their interests, learning goals, or language abilities. Besides, we could divide students into different levels or categories based on their oral proficiency or other relevant criteria, which would better cater to each student's needs.
I hope my suggestions can be helpful in your decision-making process.
Yours.

I'm glad to know that our school is organizing an English festival with the theme "Happy Childhood", where each student is invited to provide an item from their life to be exhibited.
After much consideration, I have decided to exhibit my favorite childhood book, "The Adventures of Peter Rabbit". "The Adventures of Peter Rabbit" is a classic children's book, which tells the story of a mischievous rabbit named Peter and his exciting adventures in Mr. McGregor's garden. I chose this book for the exhibition because it represents the joy and innocence of my early years. Reading the book was a delightful experience that sparked my imagination and instilled in me a love for reading. It reminds me of the carefree days of my childhood when I could
immerse myself in the enchanting world of stories and embark on thrilling adventures alongside beloved characters.
By exhibiting this book, I hope to share the happiness and wonder of my childhood with others. I believe that everyone deserves to experience the joy of a carefree and imaginative childhood.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When I was in middle school, my social studies teacher asked me to enter a writing contest, I said no without thinking. I did not love writing. My family came from Brazil, so English was only my second language. Writing was so difficult and painful for me that my teacher had allowed me to present my paper on the sinking of the Titanic by acting out a play, where I played all the parts. No one laughed harder than he did.
So, why did he suddenly force me to do something at which I was sure to fail His reply: “Because I love your stories. If you’re willing to apply yourself, I think you have a good shot at this.” Encouraged by his words, I agreed to give it a try.
I chose Paul Revere’s horse as my subject. Paul Revere was a silversmith (银匠) in Boston who rode a horse at night on April 18, 1775 to Lexington to warn people that British soldiers were coming. My story would come straight from the horse’s mouth. Not a brilliant idea, but funny, and unlikely to be anyone else’s choice.
What did the horse think, as sped through the night Did he get tired Have doubts Did he want to quit I sympathized immediately. I got tired. I had doubts. I wanted to quit. But, like revere’s horse, I kept going. I worked hard. I cheeked my spelling. I asked my older sister to correct my grammar. I checked out a half-dozen books on paul Revere from the library. I even read a few of them.
When I handed in the essay to my teacher, he read it, laughed out loud and said, “Great. Now, write it again.” I wrote it again, and again and again. When I finally finished it, the thought of winning had given way to the enjoyment of writing. If I didn’t win. I wouldn’t care.

A few weeks later, when I almost forgot the contest, there came the mews. I went to my teacher’ office after the award presentation.
参考答案
Weeks passed, I forgot the competition. Thoughts of winning — a pipe dream to begin with — gave way to the enticements of a Georgia spring. Then came the news. There were two winners from each grade. A lanky, sweet-natured redhead in my class won second place. I won first place. That may have been the first time in my chatty life I was struck dumb, in any language. Our teacher hooted with delight, my classmates stared at me in open disbelief, and Second-Place Red gamely shook my hand.
The following week, the winners met with the head of the sponsoring organization. We stood in the office, clutching our plaques and tittering to one another, when a small, birdlike woman entered. She spoke to the adults, then made her way down the line of winners, congratulating each of us and shaking hands. Red and I were last. We introduced ourselves. She looked from one to the other. She didn’t speak. She didn’t extend her hand. After a few awkward seconds, she cleared her throat and explained that there had been an embarrassing mistake. Then she gently reached down and took our plaques — hands crossing at the wrists, she re-assigned them---- and apologized for the error. I was now the second-place winner.
