Now let me introduce something of our city. Xiamen is a beautiful coastal city along the southeast coast of China, with a total area of 1565 square kilometers and an urban population of less than 600000.
The biggest feature of Xiamen is “the city is on the sea, and the sea is in the city”.
Kunming is called the spring city. There is no bitter cold in winter and no severe heat in summer.
It is the capital city of Fujian province. It is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese.

Our car is now passing Xiamen bridge, which is the first sea-crossing bridge in China.
On one side of the bridge are many tall buildings, on the other side is the vast sea where ships are sailing.

A: The history of the city can be traced back to over 2,200 years ago. You know, in classic Chinese, the word “ Hangzhou” means a piece of land in water which is accessible by boat. Hangzhou saw its heyday during the Southern Song Dynasty about 700 years ago when it served as the capital of the country. Thus, Hangzhou is one of the six ancient capitals in China.
B: What is the population of the city
A: The population is about 6 million including the suburbs. However, here in China, it is only a medium-sized city. Now we have entered the downtown area.
B: That huge building on the right looks very unique. What is it
A: That is Hangzhou East Station. The total construction area of the station is more than 50000 square meters. It adopts a huge space wooden truss supporting the whole structure, reflecting the image of “ white wall and dark tile” of folk houses in Southern China. It is notable for the combination of the traditional architectural elements and the flavor of modern times.
B: When we leave Hangzhou for Shanghai, can we have a chance to take a train there
A: Yes, we will go to Shanghai by express train from Hangzhou East Station.
B: That is excellent.
A: Now we are approaching the West Lake. It’s called the West Lake because the lake is located on the west part of the city, surrounded by mountains on three sides, except the east. The east is the city proper.
