Step 1 Leading-in (2mins) Students enjoy a song: You Are You 教师引导学生听歌曲。学生听歌曲。
设计意图： 通过歌曲导入的形式，一方面，激发学生兴趣；一方面，导入本单元话题。
Step 2 Review the contexts from lesson43 to lesson 48.(6mins) Students complete a mind map. Students review the texts and find the answers. 教师引导学生回顾课文，完成思维导图。学生完成思维导图。
设计意图：通过思维导图的形式，让学生梳理回顾本单元的话题：如何表达鼓励。加深学生对 话题的理解，使学生认识到鼓励别人和获得鼓励的重要性。
Step 3 Exercise (2mins) Suppose your friend is having trouble at plete the conversation to encourage him or her. You: How are you doing these days Friend: Not very well! My English grade is very low, and my Chinese is even worse! You: If you work harder, things will get better. Friend: I ’ m not so sure. I failed my English and Chinese exams. You: Don’t give up. I had the same problem, but now I am doing well! Friend: Really I’m still not sure. What should I do You: Friend: Thanks! You’re a good friend! You: 教师引导完成练习：补全对话。学生完成习题。
设计意图： 通过补全对话，让学生学会鼓励他人，提高学生相关话题表达能力；通过阅读，
让学生认识到遇到问题，要寻求帮助，要珍视别人的建议。
Step 4 Writing(8mins) Students write a passage to encourage Tom. Students learn to think about the topic sentences, how to make sentences cohesive and how to make the topic sentences clear. 教师引导学生写一篇鼓励他人的作文。教师引导学生想出主题句，灵活运用连接词和添加主题句的细节表述。 学生完成作文。
设计意图：通过让学生写一篇关于鼓励他人的作文，提高学生相关话题的写作能力。
Step5 Homework(1mins) Suppose you are Li Hua, and Lucy is your friend. She writes you an e-mail. In the e-mail, she said she was asked to give a talk in front of the class next week. But she is nervous and doesn’ t know what to do now. Can you give her some advice to encourage her 教师引导学生课下练习相关话题的写作， 学生完成作文。
设计意图：通过让学生练习相关话题的写作，使学生巩固写作能力，加深对鼓励他人重要性的认识。
