本单元的主题范围是“人与社会”,涉及的主题内容是工匠精神。本单元包括时代楷模与大国工匠、职业榜样等学习内容,旨在引导学生思考工匠精神的含义,并通过介绍时代楷模与大国工匠的先进事迹,深化学生对未来职业规划的思考。此外,本单元还介绍了很多古今中外具有工匠精神的代表人物,一方面拓宽学生的视野,另一方面培育学生的职业精神。

“导人”板块由两个活动组成,旨在激活学生已掌握的有关职业、工匠精神的语言知识和背景知识,为整个单元的学习活动做好铺垫和预热。活动一通过词语、音频和图片呈现了一些常见职业。活动二给出了一些描述工匠精神内涵的短语,引导学生选出自己心目中的工匠精神的主要内涵。 “听说”板块包括两段听力对话。第一段对话发生在琳恩和周博之间,双方谈论校友经验交流会上导游陆佳的职业优势;第二段对话发生在乔和吴琳之间,双方谈论故宫文物修复师具备的工匠精神。本板块旨在培养学生在真实语境中获取关键信息、用简单的英语进行交流的能力。

Step 2 Lead - in Ss learn the new words and play game. Listen to the recording and match the words with the pictures. And speak out their own majors and the jobs they might do in the future. Answer the following question: What qualifications should you have if you want to be a best mechanic/ stewardess/ electrician/ fashion designer Read and translate the phrases in Activity 2 and then pick the inner meanings of craftsman’s spirit from the phrases. Discuss in groups about other aspects of craftsman’s spirit. Step 3 New Lesson Pre-listening Tell the meanings of a model tour guide and a model of public speaker. Is it easy to be a model tour guide While-listening Ss listen to the dialogue between Lyn and Zhou Bo and choose the topic in Activity One. Ss listen again and complete the blanks in Activity Two. T shows the dialogue text. Ss underline the key words to check answers. According to the given text, Ss work in pairs to role play on Lyn and Zhou Bo. Ss summarize the qualifications of a model tour guide by using some adjectives. T makes a sample dialogue with one student. T: What should a tour guide be S:A tour guide should be knowledgeable and energetic both physically and mentally. T: Why is that S: Because they need to deal with long days and large groups. Ss work in pairs and make dialogues as above sample dialogue with the given information in activity 3. T shows 2 pictures of an antique clock and an antique restorer. And ask: What can you see in the first picture What does he do in the second picture And then give the right answers. Ss listen to the dialogue and write down the adjectives describing the clock. Step 4 Practice T helps Ss summarize the words of jobs learnt in this period and brainstorm many more words about jobs, especially those relating to the majors of the school. Ss review and work in pairs to discuss their favorite jobs and the relative qualifications. Ss are encouraged to talk with the help of the learning resources provided by T. Based on that, Ss finish the task in Activity Five. T holds a sharing session on jobs and qualifications.
