A letter of advice
Teaching Aims and Demands
1. The students can review the words and expressions about study issues in this Unit.
2. The students can learn about the English learning strategy and give some advice tohelp people study English well.
3. The students’ awareness of forming good study habits will be increased after this lesson.
Teaching Key Points and Difficulties
The students can give some advice to help people who are in need according to what they have learned in this lesson and some useful sentence structures given to them.
Teaching Procedures
Step1 Lead in (2 minutes)
The students will be shown some words and phrases about the topic---how to study English well. And then, the students will be guided to focus on the topic of learning strategy.
Step2 Before reading: Reading the materials and answer the following questions. (5 minutes)
1. What is the most widely spoken language in the world
a) Spanish b) French c) English d) Mandarin Chinese
2. Why is it essential to learn English
a) It is used in many different fields such as business, science, and entertainment.
b) It is spoken by a small number of people.
c) It is difficult to learn.
d) It has no practical use.
3. What should you do if you want to learn English effectively
a) Only read English books.
b) Only speak with native speakers.
c) Set aside some time every day to study and practice English.
d) Ignore your mistakes and never practice.
4. How can technology help you learn English
a) By making it harder to learn.
b) By providing a variety of exercises and games to improve your vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.
c) By limiting your exposure to English.
d) By only teaching you how to use apps and websites.
Step3 Apply for writing: Find out some useful expressions in the text and analyze how to organize the article . (5 minutes)

Step4 Writing (20 minutes)
After knowing about the English learning strategy and advice on how to study English well, students will be guided to give some advice to help people who in need .
The structure of the letter and some useful expressions will be provided on Seewo whiteboard to help students.
After 15 minutes, some groups will be invited to present their letters. Meanwhile, their letters will be taken photos and shown on Seewo whiteboard. The groups who present their letters voluntarily can get 5 points.
Step6 Summary (1 minutes)
The students and the teacher will make a summary together. The group who gets the highest score will be the winner.
Step 7 Homework (1 minutes)
1. Polish your composition.
2. Take your notes down about the useful sentences.
