【教学目标】
Knowledge goals
(1) Students can listen, speak, read and write the key words and phrases in this lesson. danger, losing their home, number and so on.
(2) Students should be able to use the key sentence patterns in this lesson. For example, “One of + Noun plural as subject predicate verb singular”.
2. Ability goal:
let the student improve English reading ability through the reading training. .
3. Emotional goals:
1) Make students understand the appearance of animals, their living habits and the main places of production, and use English to describe their favorite animals.
2) Cultivate and inspire the love of animals, and build a harmonious society.

The main points: Students can be able to skillfully use reading skills, understand the article information, and can write a small article on animal protection.
The difficult points: On the basis of reading and understanding the passage, students can train the reading comprehension and application ability
【教学过程】
Stage 1 leading in
Activity 1 Ask the students what they know about endangered animals.
Justification:
The teacher uses pictures and a question to stimulate students' interest and activate class atmosphere.
Stage 2 Pre-reading
Activity 1 Make a prediction
The teacher asks students to look the kind of the passage and the picture to make a prediction about the passage.
Justification: This is conducive to the development of students’ thinking.
Stage 3 While-reading
Activity 1 Fast reading
Read the website and check the best title. Then the teacher gives some tips about it.
Activity 2 Careful reading
Activity 1 Read and find out the main idea of each paragraph. Then the teacher gives some tips about it.
Activity 2 Show three pictures and ask students to answer which is the first flag of Thailand. Then emphasize the sentence" The elephant is one of Thailand's symbols."(P1)
Activity 3 What can elephants do
Activity 4 Elephants are in great danger. Why
Justification: The teacher uses appropriate reading strategies to guide students to quickly understand the content of the article and improve their reading level.
Stage 4 Post-reading
Activity 1 Read the passage again and complete the mind map, and then retell it.
Activity 2 Watch a video and discuss with group members how to protect elephants.
Justification:
1. The retelling of the whole article by mind map can not only reduce the difficulty of retelling the whole article, but also help the students to sort out their writing ideas.
2. The teacher let the students discuss how to protect the animals in groups, which is good for expanding the students’ thinking and cultivating the students’ sense of cooperation.
Stage 5 Homework
Write a composition about how to protect elephants.( at least 80 words)
