Electric motors are broadly classified into two categories: AC and DC. The type of motor best suited to operate a particular piece of equipment can be different for different types of machines. Machines that employ gears generally require a motor that can start at reduced speed gradually. Wound rotor induction motors or squirrel cage motors controlled by variable frequency drives are generally excellent choices for this requirement. Machines that require a long starting period require a motor with high starting torque and relatively low starting current. Squirrel cage motors or synchronous motors are a good choice for these types of loads. Synchronous motors have an advantage in that they can provide power factor correction for themselves or other inductive loads connected to the same power line.

电机安装与维护
The correct handling, positioning, fixing and aligning of a motor are very important. Although it is a strong piece of machinery, great care should be taken. When transporting or positioning it, not to crack the casing or damage the feet.
Once the motor is in position it has to be fixed and aligned and this procedure will depend on the type of linking used and the size of machine. Very large motors are usually fixed to a concrete base with fixing bolts.

A power station (also referred to as a generating station, power plant, or powerhouse) is an industrial facility for the generation of electric energy.
At the center of nearly all power stations is a generator（发电机）, a rotating machine that converts mechanical（机械的）energy into electrical energy by creating relative motion（运动） between a magnetic field（磁场）and a conductor. The energy source harnessed（点火）to turn the generator varies widely. How Does a Transformer Work

The basic physical process of transformer is electromagnetic（电磁的） induction. If a conductor, such as a copper wire, is sitting in a magnetic field（磁场）that is changing, a current will flow in the conductor. A transformer works only with AC circuits. The changing AC current enters the primary coil（原线圈）of wire in the transformer. A magnetic field is produced that is concentrated（集中）in the iron core（铁芯）of the transformer. A secondary coil（次级线圈）of wires is wrapped（卷绕） around the iron core.

The changing magnetic field produced by the first coil is experienced（感应） by the second coil and current begins to flow in these wires as well. The second coil has many more turns of wire and offers a higher resistance to the current flow than the first coil. The greater resistance means that a larger voltage drop is produced from one end of the coil to the other. Therefore a low voltage enters the transformer and a high voltage exits, or vice versa（反之亦然）.
