Three Way Switches.
THREE WAY SWITCHES are so called because they have three connected（连接的）points inside them. If two 3-way switches are arranged, the lights can be turned on or off at either end of the circuit.
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM below shows the layout(布局)of one of the off positions. You can see that the circuit is open and so no current can flow. If the positions of both switches were reversed（反置）then it would still be an open circuit（开路）. There are also two ways for the circuit to be closed: both switches in the up position or both switches in the down position.

Two 120 volt wires and a grounded neutral wire feed the meter through the weather head. The power company is responsible for power to the meter and the homeowner takes it from there.

The electrical panel, breaker box, fuse box or service panel is the next device in line. This panel’s job is to distribute power throughout your home and disconnect power from the incoming feed.

Cable wiring methods are less expensive to install than raceway systems and require less training for the installer. They offer the advantage of low first cost, but changes after initial construction are fairly difficult and expensive to make.
Individual conductors installed in tubular raceways are much less common in residential construction. A raceway is any enclosed channel designed for holding wires. Conduits and wiring gutters are both common examples of raceways. Raceway wiring systems are more expensive to install and require more training. They have the advantage that wires can be pulled out and replaced with new ones after original construction.
