第一节(满分 15分)
参考范文 1
Dear Ryan,
Having reviewed your initial draft for the poster design competition on “Most Beautiful Campus,
Thanks to You”, I’m writing to offer some suggestions for improvement.
Firstly, your design seems to lack some touching stories, which can vividly showcase how students
are trying their best to beautify our campus, from their working hard to civilized behaviors. Additionally,
some of the text on the poster is difficult to read and recognize due to font (字体/字型) choice and size.
Therefore, I’d like to propose selecting a convincing example of students keeping the school
environment harmonious and refreshing, clean and tidy by starting with small things. And it’s beneficial
to choose a clean and easy-to-read font, simplifying the layout by removing some unnecessary elements.
I hope my feedback is helpful. Good luck with your design. Your revised work is highly expected.
Yours,
Li Hua
参考范文 2
Dear Ryan,
I hope this letter finds you well. So delighted to receive your first draft for the poster design
competition themed “Most Beautiful Campus, Thanks to You”, I’m writing to brief you on the noticeable
problems and offer some suggestions for improvement.
Fabulous as your work is, there’s still something to be improved. To begin with, the theme of the
poster, presented in your poster, fails to fully raise/arouse/enhance students’ awareness of loving and
maintaining our campus sustainably, which should be highlighted, for it is what the judges look forward
to. In addition, as for the layout of the poster, which was a little bit chaotic, if you put them in a certain
order or refer to specific display, the overall view would be greatly/significantly improved.

第二节 读后续写:(25分)
All of a sudden, a flower painting on the wall caught Regina’s eye. Inspiration struck Regina like a
lightning bolt, her eyes sparkling/twinkling with excitement. She raced up stairs, grabbed her art supplies
and sat down at her desk with unwavering determination. Looking at the remaining carnations below the
window, she moved her brush. As her brush moved smoothly across the paper, carnations came alive, as
if smiling merrily at her. At the thought that this ideal way might work, Regina’s face lit up with pleasure.
Day in and day out, Regina made one painting after another. The next few days witnessed Regina’s
continuing efforts and burst of creativity. She even drew the greedy Buttermilk and hot-tempered dog.
Her paintings mounted, but Regina’s heart was beating faster than a galloping horse as the fair day was
drawing near.
A week later, the fair day, when her parents were loading the car, Regina brought her vivid paintings
downstairs. With butterflies in her stomach, she presented the paintings to Mama, hoping they could
bring her a trace of comfort. Utterly in disbelief at these lifelike paintings, Mama’s lips curled into a
warm smile, tears welling up in her eyes, not just for the bright colors, but for the sweat Regina put in
bringing the flowers back to life, meaningful and invaluable. She gathered Regina into her arms with
affection. “Do you think anyone will buy them ” Regina asked. Mama smiled, “Oh, sweetie, yes. I’m
sure they will.” Regina’s heart swelled with relief and happiness. The sunlight then shone upon the
family. Not only were the carnations saved by Regina’s striking innovation but their family bond was
also strengthened.

W:There are too many cars and people on the road, too.
(Text 2)
W:Are you going to Carol’s birthday party She’ll be nineteen in January.
M:Oh, yes. It’s on the thirteenth, isn’t it
W:No, three days later than you said. It’ll be a big party about thirty people, I think.
M:Great. I’ll see you there.
(Text 3)
W:I’ve just watched a film about India.
M:What’s the film about
W:It describes a man’s journey through India.
M:Oh, I’ve always wanted to go there. Maybe we could go there together, you and I on a slow train
through India.

W:I’m here to pick up my car, please. Here’s my ticket.
M:It says that you arrived here at 7:00 this morning, so that’s a total of 8 hours. That will be $20, please.
(Text 5)
W:I can hardly tell Jennifer and Jessica apart.
M:I know. But their looks are the only thing they have in common.
(Text 6)
W:Hi, John. It’s Maria. The hostess who films elephants in Africa and tigers in India is doing a special
program tonight.
M:Is she going back to Africa
W:Well, 6this time she’s visiting the South Pole, to study some of the wildlife there. There was no train
there and the bad weather prevented them from going there by plane … 7It took two weeks just to
get there by sea.
M:That’ll be interesting, thanks!
(Text 7)
M:Look, the bus has just gone. What shall we do now
W:8We should have left the concert half an hour earlier. It’s going to be difficult to find a taxi at this
time. We’ll have to go home on foot.
M:You’d better phone your parents. You know how strict they are.
W:You’re right. Oh, look, 9there’s Max. Perhaps he’ll take us home in his car.
M:But his car is too small. There’s only room for one, I’m afraid.
W:Sorry, Jeff! But you know how it is: your mom and dad are not as strict as mine. 9Bye, Jeff. Hi,
Max …
M:Sara!
(Text 8)
M:How are your new neighbors, Susan
W:They seem nice enough, but their son is driving me crazy.
M:What do you mean
W:10 11He comes home every night around 10:00 with his car radio on loudly. It stops as soon as
he turns the car off. But then my kids are wide awake.
M:Oh, no.
W:Sometimes it takes us till mid-night just to get them to settle down again.
M:Have you tried talking to them
W:We haven’t even really met them yet except to say a quick hello. And … um … I feel stupid
complaining.
M:You said it was driving you crazy.

W:Well, I’m just not getting enough sleep and neither are the kids.
M:12Maybe you could go over sometime with a little gift: a plant for the yard or something. Then you
could talk about your trouble with them.
(Text 9)
W:You made a big decision five years ago — what was it
M:I’d completed about two years of my university course. I’d done pretty well in everything, and 14I
was planning to be a manager in some kind of big company after two years. I think I had a fairly
good chance of doing it. Anyway, it was during the summer holidays. I suddenly had this feeling that
I didn’t want to do this. I wrote to my college and said that I wasn’t going back.
W:What did your parents think
M:Oh, I think they were probably shocked, but 15they just said it was my life and I had to make up
my own mind. In the end I decided to try acting. So I applied to an opera school, and luckily they
accepted me.
W:Have you been able to find work as an actor since then
M:Well, I get some bits of work, but I’m certainly not rich and famous yet. 16I also spend a lot of time
working in bars or restaurants, you know part-time jobs, when I haven’t got any acting work.
(Text 10)
M:So last week when I was talking about my flight around the world, I’d got as far as Norway. 17This
week I’ll tell you about the last part back to my home — London. 18When I landed in Norway,
two friends were there to meet me and took me to a hotel. And we talked a lot about my trip. The
next morning after breakfast my friends helped me get into the suit I have to wear when flying over
water. I hadn’t slept much, but I was excited and felt really wide awake on the flight to Denmark on
Sunday evening. On Monday I was worried about the plane. There was a problem with one of the
front wheels. But fortunately, I managed to land in the Netherlands without any problems. And my
friends helped me repair the plane as soon as I landed. That night I stayed with them on their farm in
the Netherlands. 19The next morning it was so foggy that I couldn’t fly, but it was good to have a
break. When the fog lifted in the afternoon, I was pleased to take off within minutes. My next landing
place was a flying club in the north of England and I knew it would be impossible to land there once
the sun had gone down. But fortunately, it was a lovely clear evening, and I arrived in good time. I
left early again on Thursday for London. I felt nervous because it was my last day of flying. Then,
when I finally landed, I felt wonderful — the long, difficult journey had been worth it.
